LOC SSIC All that is Good

There are many thing I love about the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge, The Design Team, who are such a blessing, the opportunity to share in Gods Word and the fact that so many of you play along with us!

I am honoured to be hosting this weeks challenge and have chosen the following scripture:
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things
Philippians 4:8

My challenge this week is to make a card or project that is all white or cream, something that is pure

This was a challenge for me as I could not even do sponging, although I could distress the edges but no ink!!  I embossed the white CS using the SU Vintage Wallpaper and added a Strip of embossed sentiment,

Some sheer ribbon with some dazzling dots is added, along with a bow and topped with a layered flower - the top layer being a gorgeous crochet flower and a large pearl brad has been added!

Finishing off with the gold embossed Layers of Color  butterfly from the Butterfly Collector art stamp set, this is flanked by two punched butterflies and of course I had to add pearls!!

I have loved this scripture for many years and have tried to apply it to my life from the moment I understood what it means. We all know it is easy to see the negative in things, to bypass all of the good and to focus on that which is negative. In fact, we can easily get caught up in the negative and before long we find ourselves missing all of the good and only seeing the bad. Our perspective changes and this, in turn, can affect us at the very core of our being!

Are you a "glass half full" or "glass half empty" person? I have always tended to be a "glass half full" person. Even if my glass was half empty, I would just be happy that I had a glass at all! But if I'm not careful I can find myself quietly agreeing with those who may be noting the negative in a situation, or, even worse, on a person, maybe even someone we love. Before too long the negatives come up before all of the good!

This is NOT what God wants for us and not at all what I desire for my own life! We have the following scripture printed out and hung on the bathroom door so it's there for us to read every day and help us refocus on the good things rather than the negative:

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14

LOC CP Flower Doily

I have created this card for the Card Patterns Challenge using Layers of Colours Flowering Gems art stamp set - it is such a pretty set and the flowers always come out beautifully in any style!

This is the sketch - very CAS, which is harder for me, but I am happy with the result!

I embossed the SU Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder swiping the Tim Holtz Distressing Ink Pad Tattered Rose over it, which gives such a  gorgeous effect!  I have had some requests for a tutorial for this technique and will be doing one in the next week - so watch this space!  LOL!

I used a new DieCut that my DH got me  - it is called Lace Doily by Scrapping Cottage - don't you just love it!  I will be using this often - bring on those sketches with circles!  LOL!

Here you can see the added shimmer on the flowers using Kindy Glitz.

This gorgeous bow is made using satin ribbon from a RAK from my dear friend Sabrina,  I used by Bow Easy and added the flower gem.

This is for the following Challenges:
Simon Says Stamp - Punch 'Em
A Spoon Full of Sugar - Let's Get Punchy
Fab'n Funky - Clean and Simple
Speedy the Cat's Friends - DieCuts and punches
Creative Card Crew - Let's Punch It

LOC Framed Vintage Girls

Today I am showing you the Layers of Color Wild Grass Frame cling art stamp - it is so much fun to use and so versatile.  You can use it as a complete frame or emboss it with Spellbinders™ Nestabilities® Die Templates Labels Sixteen,

This card was very quick to make, which is always a nice change.  After stamping the frame I added an epoxy image that I had sitting in my stash for over a year....

and framed it with bling completing it with some small cream roses , which were part of a RAK from my friend Gunn - thanks Gunn, they are divine!

I finished it off with paper piercing on the corners, distressed edges, sponging and a touch of lace along the flower edge!  Don't you love the nostalgic feel!

This is for the following Challenges:
Speedy the Cat's Challenge - Use Dies or Punches
Craft Your Passion - Bling, Sparkle of Glitter
A Spoon Full of Sugar - Lets Get Punchy

MMSC77 Snow Day/Snow Angel

For this weeks Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge I think I have followed a theme - funny really as we are going from winter to summer so we are leaving this weather behind us, but how would I resist this adorable image from I Did It Creations - I don't know what draws you to an image but these whimsical images just call my name - I think it is to do with the shape and of course the colouring potential!

I coloured her with SU Chalks and a Blender Pen - no surprises there are there!  LOL! The card stock layers have been embossed with the Snowflake folder and I have inked it before embossing to get this effect - I love the way it looks and have decided the love the lighter colours using this technique, it gives a more of a washed technique.

I have used Tim Holtz Distressing Inks and decided to use brown as well, Walnut Stain I think.  The fibre added a great touch but was a tricky little thing to get to stick - several layers of skin later, I am happy with the result,  Snowflakes and gems are the finishing touches to this wintry wonderland.

Below I am using one of Priscilla's newest images - her Angel - my photos just do not so this card any justice, it is full or sparkle and bling and takes this angel to another dimension!

Hopefully you can see some of the bling and shimmer here - well, juts s hint of it anyway!

SSIC LOC A Touch of Pink

It is a very special week at the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge - it is Breast Cancer Awareness Week and like you, we all know someone special who has been touched by this terrible disease, including our gorgeous Design Team sister Randi.

Our wonderful sister Chris has chosen this beautiful scripture to share this week

My health may fail, My spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; He is mine forever. Psalm 73:26

Chris has encouraged us to  think of someone who has cancer as you create your card/project and pray for them....and the challenge is...

In recongition of Breast Cancer Awareness week please use a pink ribbon and primarily pink on your card

I have used the Layers of Color new release Cottage Rose cling art stamp and coloured it - naturally pink - how fitting for this wonderful Cause.  Now I have to say the gorgeous chiffon ribbon is actually a soft baby pink but the photo has not captured it properly!

The rose is coloured with SU Chalks, cut out - yes some very fussy cutting was done here, but oh so worth it!  I have popped it up onto a Oval, using Nesties Large Oval.  The Vintage Corners have had pearls added as a finishing touch!

This scripture is perfect for this week and holds a truth that we all need to encompass.  Regardless of our circumstances,  whatever state our health and bodies are, whether they be in peak condition and serving us well, or we are battling with various ailments and diseases - the truth is that God is the strength of our heart - and that remains forever!  This is so true - these bodies, no matter how well looked after they are, they are temporal, not at all designed for eternity.

We are limited by our bodies to a certain degree and for some, they can tie us down and stop us doing all that we can - but the heart - it is not stopped by anything, when it is centred on God!  Often God uses our health, or lack of it (note I did not say CAUSES IT!) to make us call on Him - sadly, that is what it takes for some of us!!  I love the scripture Chris chose today and came across it in the Living Translation ( don't you love e-Sword!)

My flesh and my heart waste away; God is the rock of my heart and my portion forever.

Psa 73:26 (LIVT)

and the Good News Bible

My mind and my body may grow weak, but God is my strength; he is all I ever need.

Psa 73:26

LOC Framed Song Bird

I just love an Inspiration Challenge and seeing how everyone interprets it - we can all start with the same thing and create something so different - I discovered the Moxie Fab Word  site the other week

and had to play along again this week in the Trigger Tuesday challenge after discovering I was one of the Trigger Targets for the week - it certainly made by day!

The card I have made for this weeks challenge is inspired by this amazing photo:

I have used the colours, they are fabulous - I have to say I did have to go hunting for the grey card stock, but thanks to my friend Ann and her amazing scrap pile - I had some!!

I used Ranger Distressing Ink in Scattered Straw for the sponging around the edges and also on the Layers of Color Belle Brocade art stencilPeeled Paint Distressing Ink was also used.

My main image is from the Layers of Color Backyard Birds art stamps and I have embossed it on top of the Beaded Frames art stamps - the shape of it was quite fitting - I thought!  I coloured the beads with SU Chalks and a Blender Pen.  The bird has been coloured in by lightly wiping the inked dauber over it after sponging the Belle Brocade art stencil.

I pleated a piece of old hymnal and sponged it with the Peeled Paint Distressing Ink and added two rows of faux stitching on it to finish off.

This card is for the following challenges:
Cowgirl's Sunday Stampen Challenge - make your own background
Penny's Challenges  - As long as it flies

LOC Shielded

Faith Art Friday is a special day for Layers of Color - it is all about our faith and not about sales - what a great concept is that!

As soon as I saw the New Release Flourish Crest cling art stamp I thought about the Armour of God....there is nothing I could say about it to expand - God's Word says it all in this scripture...

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities
, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world,
against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth,
and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit,
and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly,
to make known the mystery of the gospel.
 Ephesians 6:10-19

So often I have heard it preached that we are to put on the armour of God daily, this was something I did as a new Christian and continued to do so for a number of years - but one day when reading it, I had to wonder where does  it say in the Word that we are to ever take it off!?!  It is something worth thinking about!!  I am sure there are many beliefs that we have formed from the words that we have heard preached from the pulpit - a great word, but it is brought to us through someone else and has their understanding - we need to go back to the Word of God ourselves and see just what God is really saying!!

This card is for the following challenges:

Tuesday Throwdown - Anything Goes

LOC On My Mind

I am having so much fun with the New Release  Red Rubber Cling Art Stamps from Layers of Color - I just love the fact that Layers of Colors is now a Spellbinders Preferred Company.

I have used the Victorian Frame cling art stamp and it is a Die Coordinate for the Labels 14 Nestibilitie!!   It has been such fun working with this image and as you can see it makes such an elegant  card with only a small amount of work!

The DP is Graphics 45 and really sets the tone for the card!  I coloured the fabulous frame with SU Chalks. cut it out and sponged around the edges with Distressing Ink then popped it up on foam tape.  I layered two flowers, and then this DIVINE flower button - both flowers and button are part of a RAK from my dear friend Pam (aka pam124, the FAVE or 'da Princess!!' LOL!! )   The sentiment tag is from the Nestibilities Tag set and the sentiment from Stampin' Up.
This card is for the following Challenges:
Make it Crafty - distressing (ink distressing around edges)
Pear Tree Designs - Free for All
Paper Cutz Challenge - Anything Goes

I look forward to showing some more projects - yes I do have quite a few more using the different Red Rubber Stamps!  You can see more of my projects in my Layers of Color Gallery, while you are there make sure you check out the other Design Team galleries there is so much inspiration waiting to be discovered, we are thrilled that Layers of Color is a Spellbinders Preferred Stamp Company.
