SSIC LOC Blue and Green - So Serene

Sunday means it is time for Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge.  We love seeing so many of you playing along with us and seeing your gorgeous cards - how inspiring you all are.  There is such an array of divine vintage cards from last weeks challenge  - it is fabulous to see!

This week the challenge is brought to us by our very dear Lisa  , who has brought us the very well known

Psalm 23, "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever."

Lisa has challenged us to use the colors blue (still waters) and green (green pastures) in your cards/projects.  What a pretty colour combination...

Along with the Happy Wishes art stamp set which has been cut out using my Spellbinders Grand Calibur and the Classic Oval Nestibilitie, layered onto the Labels 14 Nestie.

The top and bottom edges of the card have been stencilled with the Delicious Dots art stencil and Distressing Ink to give a lacy effect.

The butterflies are from Stampin' Up, thanks to my friend Ann and the use of her Die Cut - I love the texture on them!

This card is for the following Challenges:

LOC Wild Wings

Don't you love weekends - we are having a HOT one here but not too hot especially when you have AIR CONDITIONING!!  It has been a couple of days since I have posted something - but that is not because I haven't been busy - I have, I am preparing for teaching at the local Craft Shop one night a month and also weekly at the Art Center - I will give you a little look at those cards when they are finished...in the meantime....

I have created for creating sake and this is what I came up with!  The colours are very 'earthy' and I am really loving the combination.  I have used the Layers of Color Wild Grass Frame cling art stamp - don't you just LOVE it!!!   It is stamped with Distressing  Embossing Powder - this is my first time using it and I love the effect but have to perfect my technique!

The butterfly is from the Flutterescent art stamp set and has been sponged with Distressing Ink in Walnut Stain and had some light chalking in purple, to add a hint of colour, along with Kindy Glitz - you just have to have the shimmer on these fabulous wings!!

This card is for the following Challenges:
Sisterhood of Crafters - Anything Goes
My Time to Craft - Embossing
Stamps R Us - Animals
Gingerloft - Things that Fly
Fuzzy Wuzzy - Animal, Anything Goes
Phindy's Place - Lace and Pearls

Australia Day our Way!

Happy Australia Day

to all of you in Australia !  Over the past weeks, we have been privileged to see the great 'Australian mateship' in this country, with the horrendous flooding in Queensland and the devastating flooding that is still occurring in Victoria!!  It is with such a sense of pride that we see 10's of 1000s of volunteers living up to help those in need - no longer strangers, but mates!!!  This is Australia - these are Australians and this is what we do - and we LOVE it!

This year our family did something different for Australia Day - we coordinated Kids Activities at our local Market Place

In this day and age when everyone's focus in more inward and so much communication done via the Internet, it was time for us to come face to face with our neighbours....those who live in our area

Setting up only took minutes...

and then the fun started

Careful colouring by my DD2 - she was a great helper,
specialising in applying faux tattoos - so popular with all ages!

Free Australian flags, tattoos, colouring and lollies

were enjoyed by many

Flying the Australian Flag....just had to be done...

by the young...

and the fabulous....

the smell of YUMBLY food filled the Shopping Centre

Tons of free fun and hopefully exhausted children.....LOL

A little atmosphere and of course plenty of parking!  LOL!

What a great day.  It was such a blessing to us to be able to put back into the community - to smile at strangers and give out freebies to the children, chat with adults and help being back that sense of community, that we all need to feel!!  We have two more says of fun - wahoo!

I heard a little rumour - Easter Bunny is said to be making an appearance at the same Centre this Easter - bringing a week of fun and activities with him - what fun and what a privilege!!

Thank for sharing in our day!!
Happy Australia Day - and it was!!

March of the Snowmen Blog Hop

I am excited to be invited to be part of the second
"March of the Snowmen Blog Hop"

I have created a card using a gorgeous free image from Cora at Digital Two for Tuesday

I coloured the image with SU Chalks and a Blender Pen.  The background card stock has embossed with the Snowflakes Embossing Folder that had been inke prior to embossing - I love this effect.

I then ambossed some acetate with the same folder - and attached it over the image with brads.  The acetate has been recycled from a chocolates box - the family was only too happy to help by eating all of the chocolates!  LOL!

I love the frosted feel that this gives the image!!  The snowflake is from a Martha Stewart Punch - sadly not one I own! LOL!  I have added bling to the centre of each snowflake along with some Kindy Glitz.

Laura from Layers of Colour has kindly donated the Renaissance Hearts art stamp set as a Blog Candy - to win you just have to leave a comment here and I will announce a winner in 48 hours.

MMSC88 Raining Hearts

Where did the week go - I can't believe that January is nearly gone - for us that means school holidays are coming to an end - our kids are back to school on 7 February and NOT looking forward to it!  I can't say I am either - I am loving the slower pace of life and not running to any timetables!!  But one thing I am looking forward to is this weeks  Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge!!!

I have used an image from "priscillastyles" Store - don't you just love this Raining Hearts image!  I have coloured it with the fabulous shimmer products from our monthly sponsor Lindy's Stamp Gang.

I wanted to use the shimmer on the image but did not want to spray the whole thing so decided to use a paint brush and add it that way - the effect is fabulous and sadly is not captured well with the camera  The trunk is painted with the Moon Shadow Mist in Buccaneer Bay Blue.

I used the Starburst Spray in Azure Sea Asters on the Scalloped Oval - I got a pleasant surprise to find that it had gold shimmer through it - you have to love that!!  The whole card has a metallic look IRL and is very effective - I will definitley be using this technique again!

The Large Scalloped Oval and Classic Oval Nestibilities are cut using the Spellbinders Grand Calibur - I am really loving how easy it is to use - you get crisp cut lines every time!!

This card is for the following Challenges:
Woodware USA - Anything Goes
The Stamp Man - Distressing
Crafty Purple Frog - Distressing
Stamp with Fun - Blue and Brown
Paper Sundaes - Distressing
