Spellbinders Basic Scrapbooking with Dies Tutorial

My Spellbinders tutorial today is very quick and easy - sharing how to start using Dies on your layouts/scrapbook pages - nothing too hard but definitely effective! Scrapbooking is such a wonderful way to be the 'Memory Keeper' in the family, recording those precious times for the generations to look back on.  There are so many wonderful Scrapbookers around - it can be daunting for those of us starting out...

Spellbinders Products:
Other: Liquid Glue; button; Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L: E-Z Adhesive Runner, 3D Foam Squares; Sanding Block; Washi Tape; Cosmo Cricket: Alpha Stickers; Corrugated Cardboard; May Arts Ribbon - Sheer ribbon; 2 x 4"x6" photos (portrait); 12 x 12 Patterned paper.

1. Cut/emboss the photos using Pierced Rectangles #5 #6 (#1 being the smallest) using the Platinum Die Cutting and Embossing Machine.
NOTE:  Make sure you use Respositional Tape - or Washi Tape to hold the Dies in place so the spacing is even.

2. Using a Sanding Block and circular motion, lightly sand around the pierced edges, you can see this adds the impression of another layer and makes the photos a little nostalgic - or distressed.
3 Cut patterned paper approx 10" x 6", adhere to patterned paper.  Attach a strip corrugated cardstock across the base of the blue paper using double sided tape.
4. Layer the distressed photos onto a panel of patterned paper, angling each one towards the outside edge.
5. Adhere double sheer bow to where the photos join, adhere a button and heart using liquid glue.
6. Randomly add Washi Tape to the corners of the layout - making each piece a different length and making sure you tear not cut the tape.
7. Add the sentiment stickers above the lower portions of Washi Tape.
8. Add various size buttons using liquid glue, finishing with name and date.

It is as simple as that - and the results are sure to make you more than happy with your layouts - Spellbinders has so many different Dies that help display your memories so beautifully.

Take care friends - thank you for your comments and all of the support you give me - you make blogging such an amazing place to be!! Your encouragement is such a blessing for me - it makes my day! God bless you!

Blast from the Past - previous AIR Submission

Hello friends, I have been doing a little 'housework' on the back of my Blog and come across some posts I have not shared (or at least I don't think I have!!)  This one being one of my submissions for the 2014 Artist in Residence for Imagine Crafts - my favourite ink company and it was a pleasure to be on their Team for nearly 3 years.

  • IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Memento™ Dye Ink in Dandelion
  • IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Memento™ Dye Ink in Tangerine
  • IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Memento™ Dye Ink in Summer Sky
  • IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Memento™ Dye Ink in Teal Zeal
  • IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Memento™ Dye Ink in Rich Cocoa
  • IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Memento Luxe™ Mixed Media Pigment Ink in Wedding Dress
  • IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® StazOn® Solvent Inks in Jet Black
  • IMAGINE Crafts® Embossing Powder™ in Clear
  • IMAGINE Crafts® Embossing Powder™ in White
  • IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Sponge Daubers™
Preferred Promotional Partners:
Other:   Stamp-It image, Heat Gun, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® - E-Z Tape Runner, Foam Dots, Spritzer Bottle and water, white cardstock, jade cardstock, paper towels, Blue Moon Beads®
Lost & Found Tag, yellow and white twine

Start by randomly sponging white card using IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Memento™ Dye Ink in Dandelion and a IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Sponge Daubers™  - bearing in mind where you will be stamping the Dandelion.
  1. Follow this with the IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Memento™ Dye Ink in Tangerine in the center of the Dandelion.
  2. Fill in the white areas using the IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Memento™ Dye Ink in Summer Sky
NOTE: Using circular motion while sponging will help avoid uneven colour.

Cover with the IMAGINE Crafts® Embossing Powder™ in Clear and set with  Heat Gun.

Once the embossing has cooled, repeat the process, using white embossing powder instead of clear.  You can see in the photos below the definition the white embossing gives.

Once the embossing has cooled, sponge the blue areas using IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Memento™ Dye Ink in Teal Zeal and a IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Sponge Dauber™, next lightly sponge IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Memento™ Dye Ink in Rich Cocoa to the center of the dandelions to add some depth.

Lightly spritz the inked images with water, dabbing dry with a  paper towel to remove excess water.
Cut out using the Grand Calibur Cutting Machine and the 5x7 Matting Basics A Spellbinders®  Nestabilities® Card Creator Die #5 (remembering #1 is the smallest Die.)

Layer the image onto white card , cut using the 5x7 Matting Basics B Spellbinders®  Nestabilities® Card Creator Die #5, using foam tape.
Adhere this to the jade card base, cut using 5x7 Matting Basics A Spellbinders®  Nestabilities® Card Creator Die #6.
Using IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® StazOn® Solvent Inks in Jet Black and a IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Sponge Daubers™ to ink the sentiment on the Blue Moon Beads® Lost & Found Ta.  Wipe the excess ink off the tag, leaving it in the lettering as shown in the photo below.

Attach to the card using yellow and white Twine and Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® - Foam Dots on the tag.
