Art Journal - When in Doubt...

Hello friends, thanks so much for stopping by.  Today I am sharing another page from my Art Journal - as I have mentioned with each page - we are all on a journey, whether it is art, faith, health or something else.  This one came together easily - I love that part of it - just feels right. I am sure as I go along that will change - but in the meantime I am enjoying the process and looking forward to learning and evolving...

This page has been created using recycled cardboard.  It is very simple, starting with patterned paper adhered to the page using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L E-Z Adhesive Runner.  Lots of layers have been added but it is still not bulky - one of the reasons I love Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L 3D Foam Squares.  The inking around the edges and the image from Little Birdie Crafts have been stamped using Imagine Inks, Versamark and Embossing Powder.

The Tim Holtz Paper Dolls are part of a very generous RAK I received and have been adhered using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L E-Z Adhesive Runner.  The chipboard is also from Little Birdie Crafts and has been glued to the page.  Finishing off with Washi Tape and patterned twine.

I just love this journal created using recycled cardboard - I have great plans for it .... hope you join me as I continue this journey!

A Sweet Wish

Hello friends - welcome and thank you for stopping by!   I am working on some projects that I cannot share yet - not for a while infact, but I had to stop by and share a card with you.  I was given these gorgeous images and papers from a friend - they are from a publication and I have to say it was so-o-o quick and easy to put together - simply elegant!

The main image has been cut/embossed using the Spellbinders Nestabilities Standard Circles SM Etched Dies and popped up onto cut/embossed using the Spellbinders Nestabilities Standard Circles SM Etched Dies pre-die cut in gold; along with a scalloped circle that has a faint floral patterned on it, using Scrapbook Adhesives BY 3L 3D Foam Squares.  Next the layered card front has been adhered to a slightly larger white card front that has had the corners rounded.

The sentiment is from a Penny Black Inc clear stamp set and has been embossed onto black card using Imagine VersaMark Ink and White Embossing Powder and then adhered across the base of the image layer. popped up below the image.  A smaller image has also been popped onto the card front using Scrapbook Adhesives BY 3L 3D Foam Squares, slightly overlapping the sentiment.

As you can see - there is lots of dimension but it is still not too bulky for posting - and that is something we need to keep in mind these days.

This card is linked to the following challenges:

Floral Greetings

Hello friends - welcome and thank you for stopping by!  It is Friday here and the weekend is almost here - I hope you have a good one - in whatever you do! I am hoping for a solid block of time in The Studio, as it has been few and far between over the past few weeks. I have been working away at more cards created using these gorgeous images and papers from a friend - they are from a publication and I have to say it was so-o-o quick and easy to put together - simply elegant!  I am sure you would be shocked at how many cards you can created with your freebies - I know I am - slowly working at using them all up!

The main image has been popped up onto patterned paper using Scrapbook Adhesives BY 3L E-Z Adhesive Runner followed by the slightly larger pre-cut card base also using E-Z Adhesive Runner Ultra. The sentiments have been stamped using Imagine Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black and VersaFine in Vintage Sepia have been die cut using Spellbinders Dies and popped onto the card front also using Scrapbook Adhesives BY 3L 3D Foam Squares.

The small flowers are from Little Birdie Crafts, finishing off with bling from Want2Scrap being adhered to the body of the butterflies and to the card front. The pre-cut butterfly wings have been popped up using Scrapbook Adhesives BY 3L 6x4 Adhesive Sheets that have been trimmed into small strips - and I do mean small!!  A little labour intensive but well worth it. The Adhesive Sheets are not as high as the 3D Foam Squares and give the perfect amount of lift to the small butterflies.

Art Journal - What if I fall

Hello friends, thanks so much for stopping by.  Today I am sharing another page from my Art Journal - as I have mentioned with each page - we are all on a journey, whether it is art, faith, health or something else.

This page has been created using recycled cardboard.  It is very simple, starting with patterned paper adhered to the page using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L E-Z Adhesive Runner.  Lots of layers have been added but it is still not bulky - one of the reasons I love Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L 3D Foam Squares, including white paint and teal ink.  The inking around the edges and background stamping has been done using Imagine Inks. The image has been fussy cut/hand cut out using scissors and also adhered using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L E-Z Adhesive Runner.

Tulle has been adhered to the wings and a Little Birdie Crafts flower glued to the centre.  Finishing off with Washi Tape and patterned twine.

I just love this journal created using recycled cardboard - I have great plans for it .... hope you join me and help me 'spread my wings' in this journey!

Art Journal - Not All Who Wander are Lost

Hello friends - welcome and thank you for stopping by! I have been working on another Art Journal, although my signature is shabby/vintage - I decided to create something a little more grunge/urban and am sharing a page in my upcycled journal. I have worked 'within the lines' for so long that 'colouring outside the lines' does not come easy but I do think it is getting easier with each page - moving forward slowly!

As I have mentioned before - I am very blessed to have been inspired by so many wonderful artists - my journey with the Australian Mixed Media Roadshow has certainly opened by eyes to life beyond paper - while at the same time showed me that I can work with paper and still create Mixed Media projects - there really are no set rules...- it is a matter of shaking off those things which limit us and open up our minds

My husband - my biggest supporter - says I am transitioning - and have been for some time; whatever that may mean - as long as it does not involve hormones I am okay with it.  Wink:wink!  Then there are the wonderful artists on the Roadshow who encourage me LOUDLY to 'come over to the DARK SIDE!' LOL not naming names Michael DeMeng!!  Then there are the words of encouragement from John Creighton Peterson - 'look at you girl - getting in touch with your dark side!' LOL!  That makes me laugh.  Of course the Seth Apter was quietly working away inspiring me and giving me a nudge here and there...LOL!  I am grateful to these guys and the amazing ladies who are part of my journey - taking me out of my comfort zone and to new places artistically!

Seth - well he was just encouraging every time we chatted about art - and I have to say I am greatly inspired by Seth's stamps, dies and stencils - I seem to use them a lot when it come to my take on Mixed Media....Seth actually was a key person in helping me define the whole Crafter/Artist thing...if you know what I mean - along with Linda Molden Peterson - who is amazing and I had the honour of meeting in Phoenix on a Spellbinders Retreat....anyway enough about that...

So here you have it - I have been inspired by one of my favourite sayings and a photograph taken by my husband.  The background is from a recycled box and I hve added some inking.  A very easy page but I felt it was a case of 'less is more' - the good things is I can always add more if I feel inspired in the future.
