LOC Because of You

Hello everyone - it is Saturday morning here and unfortunately I have woken up 'under the weather' not often that happens, so I am going to take it easy today and hopefully beat it. I have been looking through old photos, which is always lethal for me as it makes me long for the day gone by, when we all know that we retain happy memories and forget about everything else.

At least these days I do something productive with the photos - how could I resist scrapping these - the kids on their first bikes!  I got the 'bones' of the page completed at my Scrapbooking night and then came home and added a few Layers of Color touches and was happy with it.

These butterflies from the Butterfly Collector art stamp set - they are just so gorgeous and something I reach for often with scrapbooking AND cardmaking - who can resist them, they lift a project and bring joy to look at.

I cut them out and inked the edges with Tim Holtz Distressing Ink - Peeled Paint - I love it's richness.  I then coloured them with SU Chalks/Pastels using a Blender Pen.

You know I had to add that sparkle of Kindy Glitz - I amaze myself regularly at how I use things like Kindy Glitz and I am not usually a 'glitterly' person - and flowers - I was never a fan of flowers but now, I have 'seen the light' and use them on everything - well almost - funnily enough, none on this one! LOL!

I added a corner from Layers of Color Touch of Elegance, this set lives up to it's name - it is so elegant and just the right touch for this otherwise bare corner,  I added some highlights with Chalks and ppicked up the colours on the DP - how easy is that!!

The other touches are from the SU Scrapbooking Kits that we used - this layout was super quick, while I like that fact I do enjoy taking my time and adding those touches that add to the scene I am creating and capturing the 'moment' from days gone by - oh, I am sounding OLD - guess it comes with how I am feeling today!! LOL!

This is for my Twisted Sister Challenge this week, where Terri (aka  Brat Cards aka the Brat)  challenge us to finish something we have had sitting there for ages - this layout had been sitting in my folder for ages waiting for those final touches and to be added to the album - so I am happy to have completed it - I do have a card I finished as well - it was only waiting for brads or buttons - I hang my head in shame - and that is a major fete as when I do that it feels like there is a HEAVY METAL concert happening in it - I will see how I go and may post is later - or NOT!! LOL!

I am linking this to:

My Big Guy

Friday morning I scrapbooked with a couple of friends, Nat and Deb. A group of us try and get together once a week, some make it some weeks and not others - me...EVERY WEEK!! I have decided that I am setting aside this time to do my own thing, not make cards for shops, but do what I want to do...I will probably so scrapbooking...

This page is of my my eldest, my only son, Jacob. You know what it is like with your first...so-o-o many photos so I am happy to make a start! Jacob actually has his own story, he is a walking miracle and one day I will share his story. I love the blues and browns together and they are great for boy pages or cards. I have loosely cased a page by my friend Hannah (aka bubblefrog) but I doubt if she would recognise it! LOL!

The DP's have been sponged and layered with a scalloped border added to the lower one. I have stamped various circles and sentiments, sponged and layered them, then added a corrugated card strip and 2 buttons with string attached between them! I t was very hard to get the colours exact, I think I left it a bit late in the day, it is close but IRL the colours are a bit richer without being too bright! The corrugated strip is for the Ways to Use it Challenge on SCS and the metal button brings it into this weeks StampinB. Challenge where we are to use metal on our projects.

Thank for visiting, I appreciate you leaving your comments... so I know you have been! It is Sunday night here and going to be a cold one...the family are watching comedies and enjoying NOT having to rush out the door in the morning as it is school holidays!! I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. God bless you!!
