The Apron Project 2018

Hello friends, thanks so much for stopping by.  I have a very special project to share with you today for a very special Cause -  the 2018 Apron Project was borne from a comment made by a young boy who likened the aprons to super hero capes.

Strength is the inner power to withstand whatever comes our way.  Strength is our capacity to endure in the midst of tests and as we grow in strength we are able to tackle life’s challenges with courage and determination.

The Apron Project was created by Australian Sallianne McClelland who has 30 Years in Event Management and is the current Board President for the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women’s Shelter.

Artists from across Australia and overseas will once again unite to create works of art on aprons. In the last three years over 100 artists have presented more than 200 aprons and raised much needed funds for the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women’s Shelter.  Importantly they also raised awareness of the growing epidemic of Domestic Violence. 

I am excited to be taking part in this fabulous Cause - you can read all about it here.  I participated last year and made two aprons - my first ever attempt at this kind of project - but what a fabulous journey - a learning curve and well worth it in every way.  It was exciting to be part of a world wide event for such an amazing cause - the baby of my dear friend Sallianne McClelland.

I have used a mixture of Imagine Memento Fabric Pens, Chameleon Pens, paint and ink that can be used on fabric, along with Stencils by Penny Black Inc., Little Birdie Crafts, TCW and Dream Weaver.  I have also used stamps by Seth Apter of The Altered Page and created the background clouds and hills using torn paper and Fabric Markers.  The addition of a sun, some shadows and a few splatters and buttons as flower centres along the hemline.  The apron was ironed with a hot dry iron to seal the products.

Remember...I am Here for You

Hello Blog friends, I have off the Blog longer than I like, but have been busy two big Workshops in Sydney over the past few weeks, as well as Workshops locally - and that means kit preparation BIG TIME...plus there is family life...and our first grand-baby due in just over 2 weeks - so very exciting!

I have a very quick and easy card to share with you today - but I have to say - how adorable is that owl - it is created by sponging a stencil from Dreamweaver Stencils using Imagine Crafts featuring Tsukineko Inks.

The sentiment is from SRM Stickers, Want2Scrap© -  Swirls Finesse add to the beautiful feel of this project.  Scrapbook by Adhesives by 3L - 3D Foam Squares, E-Z Runner has also been used on this card.. The card base is created using Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles and the Spellbinders® Grand Calibur® Die Cutting and Embossing Machine

Step 1. Stamp Magenta image onto white card and blue card using Versafine in Onyx Black

Step 2. Cut out framed image and emboss/deboss using Gold Squares One  Spellbinders® Nestabilities® Imperial Gold Enhancing Elements dies

Step 3. Colour the image using Memento Markets in Summer Sky and an Aqua Pen

 

 

Step 4. Highlight the image and the embossed/deboss borders using Memento Markers in Desert Sand and Toffee Crunch and an Aqua Pen

Step 5. Pop up coloured image onto image 2 on blue card stock, using 3D Foam Squares

Step 6. Lightly 'paint' the highlighted areas on the embossed frame using an Aqua Brush

 

 

Step 7. Sponge Authentique Paper using Delicata Golden Glitz.

Step 8. Sponge the Dreamweaver Stencil sing the Golden Glitz, followed by Espresso Truffle on each corner.

 

 

Step 9. Adhere layered image onto the inked base using E-Z Runner.

Step 10: Adhere Tattered Lace using Liquid Glue

Step 11: Adhere Metal corners using Liquid Glue

Step 12. Cut sentiment as desired

Step 13. Sponge around the edges of each section using Espresso Truffle

Step 14. Highlight around each word using the Memento Marker in Tuxedo Black

Step 15. Adhere silver sentiment using Liquid Glue

Step 16. Apply a coat of Dimensional Magic to the bird image - allow to dry for approx. 2 hours

Step 17: Adhere Large Magnet to the back

Birthday Splash

Hello Blog Friends - it is a little bit of a change of pace for me - this 'splat' card is very far from my usual shabby/vintage style, but so much fun.

I have used the Splats - Dreamweaver Stencils along with IMAGINECrafts® Radiant Neon™ in Electric Pink, Electric Yellow and Electric Orange.  This has been cut/embossed using the A2 Curved Matting Basics Spellbinders® Nestabilities® Card Creator and the Spellbinders Grand Calibur® Machine.

The final splatters are added using IMAGINECrafts® Fireworks!™ Craft Spray in Danube Blue.  Finishing with a flower, along with a sentiment from Penny Black Inc.   Scrapbook by Adhesives by 3L - 3D Foam Squares and E-Z Runner have been used on this card.

The Design Team at Altered Pages will also be featuring IMAGINE Crafts/Tsukineko products on their blog throughout the month and we hope that you'll visit the Altered Pages Blog to see the fabulous projects that their team has designed as well.

Supplies:

• Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko: Sponge Daubers; InkBlushers; Delicata™ Pigment Ink in Golden Glitz; Memento™ Dye Ink in Espresso Truffle, Wedding Dress, Peanut Brittle; Fantastix™ Multi-Purpose Applicators   IMAGINE Crafts® Creative Medium™; InkBlushers™
• Spellbinders® Tweets and Twigs M-Bossabilities™ folders 
• Dreamweaver -Owl Stencil.
• Miscellaneous: liquid glue, Want2Scrap bling and Owl Embellishment, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L E-Z Runner, 3D Foam Squares, Misc background stamps, Brayer

Directions:

 

Step 1. Emboss white card using Owl Stencil and Die Cutting/embossing machine.

Step 2. Tape corners of Stencil to avoid smudging
Step 3. Sponge Stencil using Delicata in Golden Glitz adding more layers for added depth.
Step 4. Stamp wings using background stamp and Memento Espresso Truffle

Step 5. Sponge dotted stamp using an Ink Blusher and Creative Medium - be generous
Step 6. Stamp onto the stomach of the owl and allow to dry

Step 7. Sponge lightly with Wedding Dress Ink and a stipple brush
Step 8. Colour Owls feet and beak using Fantastix™ and Memento Peanut Brittle  Ink
 

Step 9. Emboss black card using Tweets and Twigs M-Bossabilities™ folder
Step10. Using a Brayer, add Delicate Golden Glitz to the M-Bossabilities.  Allow to dry
Step 11. Add strips of corrugated card using liquid glue, to look like branches.

Step 12. Round the top corners of the white card with the Stenciled image.
Step 13. Cut around lower edges of the feet, using scissors
Step 14. Add torn Corrugated card, sipping under the cut out feet.
Step 15. Adhere corrugated card to the back to add dimension (savesw on foam/tape or squares for larger areas.
Step 16. Adhere to embossed black card.
Step 17. Add a length of green ribbon across the lower portion of the layers
Step 18. Add a row of material roses, using liquid glue.

Step 19. Add layered image to a wooden frame - taping at the back
Step 20. Add Gems around the frame
Step 21. Glue the Owl to the frame
Step 22. Add bling swirls either side of the owl.
Step 23. Thread doubled green ribbon through holes at the top - for hanging
