Other than Paper....

It has taken me longer than I thought, but I am back to show you one of my other projects - 'Other than paper' that is....

Would it surprise you to know that before I got into my papercrafting obsession, I used to knit.  My Mother taught be at the age of 6 and I knitted for a number of decades - infact up until four and a half years ago, due to damage in my hands.....

I have always loved lace

and flowers - I have hand embroidered those little roses onto this Pomander, a lady who lived down the street when I was growing up, taught me to make these when I was around ten years old....they are so pretty and about the only embroidery I do!

The wool used is very fine, 2 ply infact and the needles tiny, but well worth every stitch.  Scented oil in the center adds such a sweet touch.

Satin ribbon to hang from is the finishing touch - this is the only one I have kept, the rest have been given as gifts - hopefully something that is treasured - definitely from the heart!

Thank you for your comments and all of the support you give me - you make blogging such an amazing place to be!! Your encouragement is such a blessing for me - it makes my day! God bless you!

ODBD119 Sponging

I am back for the second week as the August Guest Designer the Shining Light Challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs - thank you to everyone for all of your lovely comments on last weeks card - it is such a blessing!  I am having such a great time with these stamps.

This week's challenge: Use sponging on your creation

I have used the Our Daily Bread Designs Time set.  The clock face us cut out using the Spellbinders Grand Calibur and the Standard Circles LG Nestabilities and sponged the image using various shades of ink.

and adding Epoxy Circles into the 'workings' of the clock, along with a brass brad to the center.

.

The sentiment has been stamped onto a Die from the Spellbinders Fancy Framed Tags One Shapeabilities, I have snipped off some of the ornate ends to make it slightly more masculine, finishing off with an Old Gold Brad and a cog.

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a prize, a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!! Entries for the prize must be submitted by Sunday, August 19 at 8 p.m. EST. One random winner will be chosen and announced next Saturday.

While it is not required to use Our Daily Bread Designs images and sentiments on your creations, we would love to see them if you have them. As a way of recognizing those who do use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps, we will again be choosing three or more of our participants for the Shining the Light Award . In order to qualify for this award or join the challenge, however, you must use Our Daily Bread stamps and have your submission added to Mr. Linky by Sunday, August 19 at 8 p.m. EST. If you upload your creations to Splitcoast Stampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword is ODBDSLC119  When creating your posts on blogs please include a link to the challenge.

Make sure you pop across to the Designers Blogs - their creations and always inspiring on many levels!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Kelley for this wonderful opportunity - I am looking forward to the next challenges. Thank you for stopping by!! We hope you will join us for this week's challenge. We can't wait to see your creation!! Have a great week!!

I am going to be visiting Melbourne next month and it got me thinking about the gorgeous Christmas Shop they have there.  I love this set of Christmas Birds my husband brought me when we were there for a wonderful few days last year.

Each bird is beautiful in it's own unique way....

I have been looking around our home and have so many favourite things, I thought it was time I shared one or two - these birds were my inspiration for my card on yesterday's post - if you didn't see it you can click HERE.

Before I go...did you know that Paper Crafting is not the only creative thing I do.....I have tried my hand at a number of things will be sharing some of them here in the next little while....got you wondering!? LOL!

"Home Where I Belong"

I am sharing my card for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge this week.  We love to see so many of you play along and share your 'art from the heart!'  Thank you for your support!

This weeks challenge is brought to us Traci - who has chosen the following scripture:
"Do not let your heart be troubled;believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father'S house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am , there you may be also. And you know the way where I am going."
 John 14:1-6

Traci has asked us to create a card that depicts something that says "home" to you.

My image is from our sponsor DRS Designs - from the time I was young we have always hgad birds in our home, either inside and tame or in an Avairy outside...I love hearing their singing, it is music to my ears and always makes me feel good.  So you can see why I could not resist this adorable image.

I have cut out the image using the Spellbinders Grand Calibur to cut out the Labels One and Scalloped Labels One.  The gorgeous Nestabling is from Want2Scrap.

Armour

I am back with a card from 'The Vault'. I had put it aside and forgot all about it, along with a few others - I will be sharing those over the next week while I am working on some projects I am unable to show you at the moment!

I created this Pocket Card using a Stampin' Up set called Armour - I love the nostalgic feel it has, especially when it is combined with the SU Noteably Ornate - another set I love!

So many details, I have created Collages rather than overwhelm you with too many photos, you can click on each one and see the enlarged version.

The tag is perfect for a personal message or verse

No matter how you look at this card - there is plenty to see

Faith Art Friday - One of a Kind

It is such an honour to be sharing a Faith Art Friday post again - I am excited that Laura has invited me to be part of this wonderful blessing and has been so close to my heart since I first started on this journey with Laura.

I was inspired by this scripture in the wonderful book of Psalms.
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!  If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

Psalms 139: 14 - 18
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
1Peter: 2:9
Each one of us is unique, made be the Chief Designer, God Himself - in His image.  I pray that as we continue on this journey of FAITH, we will not conform to the standards and pressures that we are constantly bombarded with in this world, but rather every fibre of our being will be transformed into who He has made us to be, fulfilling our destiny.

Fine and Dandy

I had a lot of fun creating this card, after being inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest - so much to see over there and a constant source of organised inspiration - you have to love that!

We will be making this card at my Card Design Class Next week - using NinaB Designs Flower Garden set for The Craft's Meow.

I have added Liquid Pearls to the tips of the Dandelions and cut them out with the Spellbinders Grand Calibur and the Classic Ovals Nestabilities - the card would not be complete without the addition of at least a few Want2Scrap Pearls - love them!

This card is for the following challenges:
