LOC New Release SNEAK PEEK! Number 3!!

It is not long now until the Layers of Colour New Release Party - I am excited and would love to see you there!!  If you haven't been across already make sure you stop by and pick up your free digi's  - there will be four more this weekend and they are definitely worth having!

Are you ready for you next SNEAK PEEK - just because it is you, I have chosen a card that is using more than one of the new sets, infact if you look carefully you will see three different sets - very sneaky don't you think, but I want you to see what is coming your way - I know you are going to LOVE them!!

This is one of my favourite cards that I have made with the new releases, I am not sure why but I love the feel of it, maybe the eclectic feel is what does it for me.  I used SU DP amd inked it with distressing ink, I stamped the flourish from one of the preexisting  Layers of Color sets Nature Walk, I love it how the sets all work so well together.  I then stamped  the Urn from the New Release set Her Majesty's Urns and coloured it with chalks. The butterflies are from the New Release Set Butterfly Collector and have been coloured with chalks as well, than Nail Bling has been added to the wings.

The final image is from the New Release set Merci Bouquet and has been stamped onto white CS, coloured with chalks a, with a light touch of Kindy Glitz on the flowers.  The top edge of the CS has been torn and sponged with a thin strip of lace added behind!  The finishing touch is the corners and the little ounched  butterfly with the nail bling!!

So there you have it - another Sneak Peek - there is still so much more to see and not too much longer until you do!  In the meantime click here and pop on over to Layers of Color and see how you can win of $150 and $100 worth of prizes...and don't forget about the free digi's  being given away at the New Release Party this coming weekend, 14-15 November and great prizes to be won - it could be you who wins...remember - you have to be 'in it to win it!!'

Thank you for looking, I love knowing you have been, your comments mean so much to me!  I hope you are having a great day!  God bless you!!

LOC Freebie - Flight Path

I could not resist using the Groovy Bird Freebie again to show you how versitile it is.  Layers of Color  has 4 FREEBIES that are available for a limited time in conjunction with their New Release Party that is on 14-15 November - I am counting down now until the Party - how about you.!? You can join in the fun and while doing so you might be the winner of a number of BIG prizes - click here to see how you enter.

I have used the Mojo Monday Sketch for inspiration .  The Groovy Bird image is coloured it with chalks, and popped it up on dimensionals on a layered circle.

This was attached to DP that has been embossed with the Stylised Flowers Embossing Folder and sponged around the edges.  Two embossed  panels also been sponged, layer on black CS and mounted onto the DP.  On the top panel  I made a black half circle added a large eyelet and threaded a scrap of ribbon through it - you see, I made this card under the guise of cleaning my desk, so everything I used was lying on it - is the desk clean - NO!!  But the mess is only 15 feet deep now!  LOL!

I will have another Sneak Peek for you this tomorrow - make sure you come back and check it out - is one another of my favourite on the new sets...one of my nine favourites! LOL!  Thank you for coming by today - I love to see you have been, your comments are always so encouraging.  It is only early here but I wanted to makse sure this was posted today...you never know how long I will be tidying that desk - if you don't hear from me for a while, please ring my DH - I might be trapped under the mess! LOL!  God bless you!

Thanks again to Michelle's Scrapbooking & More for being our Monthly sponsor..check out what they are giving away this month HERE

NOW FOR OUR WEEKLY BONUS PRIZES
We have a very special treat for the Bonus Winner of MMSC27. Our weekly sponsor is once again, the very talented Michelle Perkett. Michelle Perkett is an artist who believes that the world can always use more happiness, innocence, color and inspiration. You can see her amazing work here.

I  used  Michelle's fabulous Summer image on my card, and you know I an going to say that I coloured her with chalks - my favourite technique!!  The edges of the image have been distressed and sponged with distressing ink, infact all layers are distressed.  This was layered onto cream CS which has been embossed with the Victoria Folder, distressed and then layered onto black CS.

The DP has also been embossed with the Victoria Embossing Folder - I love the depth that embossing gives DP and love to use it that way.  The DP has been layered onto black CS, along with every layer to make it more defined.  The corners are cut from plain DP and sponged, then attached to the DP.

Chiffon ribbon has been added and run through a pearl buckle, or 'slider' as some of you call it!  The layered image is then popped up on dimensionals.

Embossed corners are added onto the layers, these are made from left overs, I ran the Distressing Ink pad over them to give them an aged look! This finished the card off nicely!

It is a busy time of year for us all and we at the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge are no exception, Priscilla will be out of town for a couple of weeks and the Design Team are going to take over and of course as always do a fantastic job - I hope it is not a matter of 'while the cats away the mice will play - Oops don't look Priscilla!! LOL!!!  Priscilla has prepared as much as she possibly can and if you are new to this blog, boy you in for a treat.

In addition to all the normal monthly and weekly giveaways, we have our blog hop to look forward to, so don’t forget to put the “Holiday Blog Hop” logo on your side bar for a chance to win a weekly gift till our hop launches. We will let you know if you are one of the winners!

On a personal note I just have to say congratulations to my Mum,  Lesley (aka SuperNan) This was her first time playing the MMSC and she has only been stamping for 2 months - can you believe she was worried if her card was good enough!!  Way to go Mum - you rocked it - and that is the opinion of the WHOLE TEAM!!

Thank you for stopping by and for your wonderful comments, you bless me, I love seeing that you have been!!  Now make your way over to the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge and find out what else is going on.  I am looking forward to seeing your cards!  I hope your day is going well - it is a beautiful day here!  God bless you!

LOC Sneak Peek Bodacious Blue

It is time for another Sneak Peek at one of the nine Layers of Color New Release sets that are going to be here on 14-15 November at the New Release Party  - you are all invited andcan pick up your invitation here.!

I have used two different sets for this card, Flowering Gems and Her majesty's Urns.  I love the way that all of the sets are able to be used together, perfect for an eclectic stamper like me!  The flowers were coloured with chalks and the smaller one popped up on dimensions.

The urn has been coloured with SU Chalks as well and attached to the sponged white CS, the flower is popped up again on dimensionals, this brings it to life so much more.  This has been layered onto brown CS which has been distressed, leaving only a very thin border of brown,

The DP has been embossed with the Stylised Flowers embossing folder and sponged around the edges.  As it is double sided I have used a strip of the reverse side of the DP as the torn and sponged panel along the lower part of the card.  Corners are made from oddments of embossed CS, these too have been sponged.

The sentiment has been cut out and the edges sponged, this has been placed on the side of the card and Nail Bling added as a final touch!

Make sure you check out the New Release Party there are prizes of $150 and $100 plus more to be won - I would love it to be you - and also there are FREE DIGI's available here - pop across and get them now - we would love to see what you create - make sure you come back and show us! I am going to be using one today and will be back later to show you....

Guest Designer for Digi Kitty Stamps

I am honoured to have been invited by Kristal of Digi Kitty Stamps to be their first Guest Designer.  They are only a new company but already have a great selection of images....and run a weekly challenge which you can check out here.

This weeks challenge is to use punches, or Die Cuts on your card!  I love using punches and am slowly trying to add to my collection - I sold some of my older stamps that I no longer use and used the money to invest in some Nestibilities...although this one is not one of them, it is part of a RAK from the lovely Sabrina (aka okimom2girlz)  - thank you Sabrina - it worked perfectly here!

I have only recently started using digi's and am amazed at how versitile they are - Digi Kitty Stamps has some helpful tips on their site - so many of us are unsure, I was pleasantly surprised to find out you can emboss digi's - if that is news to you, click here and find out how, along with other useful hints!

I coloured this cute giraffe with chalks and then cut him out and popped him upon dimensionals, onto the Nestie that already been stamped and lightly coloured.

A square of CS with the edges sponged has been added to the centre of the card,  I then added the ribbon, which I attached to some CS that had been sponged and run through a chipboard buckle that was sponged with distressing ink and attached with double sided tape and a brad.  The Nestibilitie was also popped up on dimensionals and centered onto this square!  You can get an idea of the dimension here!

The sentiment has been computer generated and has been sponged and backed with black CS.  I finished off with black gems attached to the corners of the square panel!

So there you have it - why don't you pop across to Digi Kitty Stamps check out their images and the challenge!!  I would love to see you over there this week - you know I will be watching!!

I would like to thank Kristal for the invitation to be a Guest Designer, I am so honoured and have thoroughly loved the opportunity to join in this week!  Thank you Kristal and the Design Team for having me - I can't wait to see what you all do!!

Thank you too, for coming by and for the lovely comments you leave me - I love it when you visit - it always brings a smile to my face!!  I hope you are all having a good day and get the opportunity to INDULGE yourself in this fabulous passion of ours!  God bless you!

LOC Freebie - On my Heart

I have used one of the Layers of Color FREEBIES that are available for a limited time in conjunction with their New Release Party that is on 14-15 November - I am so-o-o ready to Party - how about you.!?  You can join in the fun and while doing so you might be the winner of a number of BIG prizes - click here to see how you enter.

I have used the Groovy Bird image and coloured it with chalks, and popped it up on dimensionals on a layered circle and scalloped circle. This was attached to DP that has a strip of white CS that I have used the Fiskar Sunburst Border Punch on, then sponged it and added a bow (oh yes, I am loving the Bow-Easy, it is that easy! LOL)  and some nail bling along the length of it.

The sentiment is from Our Daily Bread Designs...I won this set in the 'Three for Thee' challenge and this is the first time I have used it!  I love the scriptures and sentiment on this set, I know I will use it a lot!  I love to send cards with encouraging scripture and sentiments that come from the heart - this  ODBD 'Thinking of you' set certainly makes it easy!

I have finished off with the torn inked corners that I love to use and the nail bling, just to bring that pink in a bit more and a light touch of Kindy Glitz (which for someone that wasn't a  'blingy' person, I seem to use a lot! LOL) and there you have it!  It was a lot of fun colouring in this bird, it just seemed to take on a life of it's own - I didn't have any DP picked and just thought I would see what happened - just as well I found this DCWV DP or I would have been in trouble!!

This image and three others are available for you over at the Layers of Color so pop over there and get them - I would love to see what you do.  There are more being given away at the New Release Party this coming weekend, 14-15 November and great prizes to be won - it could be you who wins...remember - you have to be 'in it to win it!!'

This card qualifies for the Allsorts Challenge where we to bring out our 'bling' as you can see this Groovy Bird has been blinged  and shimmered, but the camera bever does it justice!
I will have another Sneak Peek for you this tomorrow - make sure you come back and check it out - is one of my favourite on the new sets...one of my nine favourites! LOL!  Thank you for coming by today - I love to see you have been, your comments are always so encouraging - thank you!

One last thing - if you are brave,  click here and see what we found in our garden this morning!!!

Spreading the Love for Jamie Blog Hop

What a privilege it is to be asked to be a part of the  Spreading the Love for Jaimie Blog Hop, my heart was deeply touched at the story of little Jamie Cates.  If you have arrived here from Katharina's Blog, which is the first Blog on the Hop, you are in the right place, if not you might want to go back to the beginning,  and make sure you don't miss any of the amazing cards on each Blog.

So many hearts have been touched by this little girls tragedy, which moved the hearts of friends, Erin, Denise and Ann hwo came up with this amazing Blog Hop to help make a difference in this little girl's  life.  They started “Spread the Love” campaign, and the blog, “Stamp Something for Jaimie”, created with the dream that hundreds of people would extend love and hope by making and sending cards to Jaimie.
"On October 4th, 4 teenagers armed with knives broke into a home in a small town in New Hampshire. Alone and sleeping inside were a mother and her 11 year old daughter. These 4 boys broke into this home with the intent to rob and kill anyone inside. They stabbed the mom, Kimberly Cates, to death and left her daughter, Jaimie, for dead in their driveway. It was a completely random act, their home was chosen only due to its secluded surroundings."

Our hope is that everyone hopping around today will stop for a moment and think about Jaimie and her father and what life must be like for them now. One moment in time has changed their lives forever. We are asking that everyone reading this message please take a moment to make a card and send it off to Jaimie. You can make something very simple or much more involved, but please share some words of hope and love and let her know that people do care and want the best for her. Please send your card to the address below:

Jaimie Cates
c/o Mont Vernon Fire Station
Main Street
Mont Vernon, NH 03057

For my card I used this image that was sent to me in a RAK , we have been told that Jaimie is not really a girlie girl, but she does like hot pink and black. She likes outdoor activities such as biking, skateboarding, razor rip stick, snowboarding, and karate. infact, she is a black belt in karate...so no princesses and fairies on this card, I went for blues and browns on this card.

and pinks and blacks on this.

I also asked my Mum, Lesley (aka SuperNan) if she would like to make Jamie a card, as she has caught the cardmaking bug since coming to visit my family here in Australia a  little while ago, it is such a pleasure for me to share this with Mum, who now has her own SplitCoast gallery which you can find here.  While you are spreading the love feel free to pop over and give Mum some 'luv!'

The next card is from one of my dearest SCS friends, as well as a Twisted Sister, Peggy(aka Marilyn Prestonn).  Peggy was so touched by Jaimie's story when she read it on a card I posted on SCS a few days ago, that she has made one too and I am honoured to be able to share it with you here.  You can see Peggy's amazing gallery here

Thank you for stopping by today, your next blog is True's Blog, enjoy all of the creations along the way, you will find over 60 talented stampers, donations from fabulous stamp companies and lots of love. We are being asked to make and send a card to Jaimie as quickly as possible. If you are unable to make a card or wish to do more, please visit our sidebar at the Stamp Something for Jaimie Blog and click on the donations link.  You can also read about the fabulous prizes that have been donated for those who want to Spread the Love....be sure to check it out!

Thank you for taking part in our Spread the Love blog hop and card drive for Jaimie Cates!  I am looking forward to working my way around the Blogs as well and seeing all of the 'LUV' that is so freely flowing - does our hearts good!  God bless you!!

LOC New Release SNEAK PEEK!!!

I am so excited to be abe to share my first Sneak Peek at the Layers of Color New Releases - this is one of 9 new sets that are being released at the Release Party that is happening on 14-15 November and you are invited - gets the details here.  In anitcipation of this great event we are giving you a 'taste' of what is to come...

I have used the Layers of Color set Merci Bouquet to create this card.  It is stamped off onto this fabulous scripture from Our Daily Bread Designs (which is part if a RAK from Kathy aka Wattle).  I love this technique as it adds such a pretty touch.  I used distressing ink and then added some light color with chalks.  It created the soft feel I wanted for this card.

This was then layered onto scalloped square and then CS embossed with the Stylised Flowers embossing folder, which has been sponged around with distressing ink - we all know how I LOVE to sponge - can't resist it and LOVE the look it gives!!  I have also added some lace and ribbon behind the image and added a silver heart embellishment.  It is fitting that it has the word 'LOVE' on it as that captures the heart of God in all of His Word!

I am delighted that this card fits with the Stamping Sisters in Christ Challenge this week where the inspiration is: Deuteronomy 31:8 "The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." (NIV)

We are to create something about when God is "unseen"; i.e., a scrapbook layout that reminds you that God is always with you; a card to encourage a friend and remind them that God is with them; or perhaps something to hang on your wall as a reminder.  How perfect is this scripture!!

Thank you for stopping in - I love your visits and love to see that you have been!  Your comments are so encouraging and always make my day - it is like getting a visit from a close friend - thank you!  God bless you and  have a great day - come back and let me know what you think of the free digi's and let me know when you create something with them - I would love to come and have a look - you know I love to see you!!!

TSC1106 Got the 'Snowman Blues'

It is time for the Twisted Sister Challenge with one of my favourite group of gals - the sistah's!!  Don't we all need sisters, whether they are real sisters or friends - they are all sistah's!!  This week we are to make a card in Peggy's (ala Marilyn Prestonn) favourite colours BLUE, using any shades of blue and it must have a snowman.  We could also use silver and white!  I had to hunt through some RAK's to find one solitary snowman and he came from a Blog Candy from Pauline - who will be happy to see I am actually getting to use some of those gorgeous PB images!!!

I coloured him with chalks as demonstrated in my tutorial and added some Dazzling Diamonds that I won in a Blog Candy from Abby - see you gals have kept my supply cupboard topped up with the loveliest things!!!  He is then cut out and popped up on dimensionals into embossed white CS that has been cut out with a Labels 4 Nestie, with a darker blue one framing it!!

This is all put onto blue CS which has been  embossed with the Divine Swirls embossing folder and inked with Distressing Ink.  Double Stitched ribbon has been layered onto a wider strip and  added to the CS.  A Snowflake that came from Jocelyn (aka JoBEar2) has been inked and shimmered with Kindy Glitz and attached with a large white brad.  The final touch being a decorative corner that was also part of a RAK...many hands have contributed to this card!!

This also Qualifies for the Challenge over at Sassy Susie's for a Christmas card!  It is her first week - so pop over and show her some support!!
The gals at Stampin'B have also challenged us to make Christmas cards so be sure to pop over there too.
Cute Daisy May Challenge have challenged us to make BLUE Christmas cards.
Thank you for looking and for your encouraging comments...I love knowing you have been - you know I would hate to miss you!!  Don't forget to check out the Layer of Colors New Release Party which is coming up soon - the free digis are released from 7 November for you to play along  - check it out here!  I would love to see you there!  God bless you!

FTTC40 Naturally Pink

Wow - it feels like forever since I have posted a card here, but in reality it has only been a couple of days!  I have been busy making cards  but they are the Layers of Colour New Releases coming up - you can see the invitation here.  I have also been working on some other projexts that you will get to see over th enxt few weeks - it is all good!

Today my card is for this weeks Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge where Kimberly Crawford  is challenging us to a Limited Supplies Challenge! Our challenge is to combine a colored image, texture or textures, and any shades of neutrals we want. You can pack on the layers and textures just make sure you include an image to color and use only neutral cardstock. Just so you know you can us any combination of whites, creams, blacks, browns, and grays!

I have used this image that I water coloured at my Scrapbooking night with my SU Demo Ann - we watercoloured with Aqua Pens and Ink Pads - such an easy way to colour and so effective!  I have cut it out with my Fiskar Large Circle Punch and layered it onto a pink Scalloped Circle.

The background CS is embossed with the Hearts embossing folder and has been distressed around the edges along with the white CS it is layered into.  The sentiment is from PTI and has been cut out with the SU Windows Slot Punch and raised up on 3D foam dots.  I have used button brads on both the image and each side of the sentiment.

But my biggest achievement is the bow - it is the first one I have made with my Bow-Easy....which was given to me by my dear friend Melinda (aka Melinda80)  I quickly emailed and SOS to Kathy (aka Wattle) and got a link for the easiest tutorial - and here I am 'fully licenced' and ready to go!!  I have actually wanted to use a bow on my last few cards but it doesn't come naturally to me, so I am 'easing' my way into it.  I used lace for this one and am happy with it!  I am sure if you keep an eye out along the way, they will improve with each one!!

Well that is it for now, thank you for stopping by and for your encouraging comments - I love knowing you have been - you make my day!  God bless you!

I would like to take this opportunity ot thank our sponsor for this month - Michelle's Scrapbooking

and our weekly sponsor - Heather Ellis at DigiStamp Characters

I have used this adorable digi image from our sponsor Heather Ellis - I could not resist this adorable little boy with his dog - there was just something about that face!  He is coloured with chalks, as per my tutorial which you can find here. The image was then cut out and popped up on dimensionals, along with the dog.  I always like to sponge aroud the edge of an image when I cut it out, or use a black pen and run it around the cut edge, that way it gets rid of any white showing (and covers up any 'oops' moments!)

I used DP that I had been sent in a RAK from one of my Twisted Sisters, Darla Ryan...I love this DP.  The semi circle has 3 different DP's - one of them is embossed - I wanted to add lots of texture and dimension!  It is layered onto black CS.

The strips of ribbon are actually torn card with window mesh layered into the top of them - this appeals to the recycler in me, I am always looking around for unique things to use on my cards - I also love the look of the mesh - it could not be more perfect with this card...then the screw brads are added to finish if off and also help to hold it all together!

You may have seen the Midnight Madness Holiday Blog Hop Logo on  some Blogs out there - it will be coming to you all on Dec 8th. Our Holiday Blog Hop will be a week long Hop filled with surprises and of course prizes.

If you would like to help spread the word about our next hop by posting this logo on your side bar we would appreciate it. As you know, here at the Midnight Madness Blog, anything can happen. We have a “Midnight Madness Prize Patrol” that will be on the look out for our “Special Midnight Madness Holiday Blog Hop Logo” If one of our team members spots this special logo, your name will go into a special drawing. We will be looking for our MM Holiday Logo from NOW until the Holiday Blog Hop starts.

We will be awarding an appreciation gift every week to one lucky person until our Holiday Blog Hop is launched, so the search starts now…good luck!!!

That is it for me, for now, thank you for coming to visit, I love reading your comments, you are so encouraging!! You know I love it when you come and would HATE to miss you!! Thank you for all of your support and emails this week - my first as a permanent member of the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge, you have blessed me!  Now...pop over the check out the sketch and I will call by to see what you have done with it!!  Have a great week - God bless you!

Shared Love

This card is for the Limited Supply Challenge on SCS where it is all about the weather where we are today...well it was in the low 30's here (Celsius) and simply GAWJUSS!!!  So I used this Penny Black image that I won in Pauline's Blog Candy.

I cut in out with a Label 1 Nestibilitie and just HAD TO sponge around the edges.....you know how it goes with me - ALL edges have been sponged.  The DP is layered, the second one being torn and added across the centre of the card with some chiffon ribbon attached.

A flower is added it is attached with a button brad, I have added some MS punched branches and a silver embellishment is tied into a small tag and attached with chiffon ribbon.

This also qualifies for the Flutter by Wednesday Challenge with the added butterfly with the pearls on her back!

Well, that is it from me today, it is late Sunday night here and I have uniforms to iron.....yuck!  Thank you for calling on and for all of your fabulous comments - you make my day!!  I hope your weekend is a lot of fun and relaxation!  God bless you!!

Saying It with Flowers

The theme of the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge this week was based on this scripture:

I Chronicles 16:34 “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” (NIV)

We were asked to make a card reflecting this.  I have used the Black Magic technique that was demonstrated at my SU Workshop a couple of months ago by my SU Demo and friend Ann.

Infact Ann started colouring this image to demonstrate and I finished it off - so Ann, things might sit on my desk for a while, but eventually they become cards! LOL!

The image is stamped with White Craft Ink onto darker CS and when dry, coloured with watercolour pencils - it is so effective and so easy!!  The results can range form soft and subtle to bold and bright - dramatic!!  I then added a punched border with  the Fiskar 'Sunburst'  punch - all edges have been sponged (of course!) and I have added torn and sponged corners!    The border punch qualifies it for the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge which is hosted by one of my fellow Australian stamping friends this week - Kathy (aka Wattle)

The final touch is the sentiment being embossed in copper embossing powder!  This is one of my favourite sentiment sets 'Wonderful Words' by SU...love it!  As there is no DP this card also qualifies for the Charisma Cardz Challenge.

Thank you for stopping by and for the encouraging comments you leave me - you know I love knowing when you have been.  It is Saturday evening here and has been a beautiful day with rain just setting in - perfect!  I hope your weekend is relaxed and fun!  God bless you!

Share the Love

It is Friday here and time to get together with my sistah's - my Twisted Sisters on SCS, that is.  this week the challenge is to make a card in pink as it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month....I have made this card in pinks but not your traditional pinks and have added black as it is also for another very special Cause...

 - a little girl called Jaimie who at 11 years old was critically injured in a home invasion that left her mother dead and Jaimie fighting for her life.  As I ready Jaimie's story I was deeply touched and could not help but look at my 11 year old daughter and have my heart go out to Jaimie - she is not a 'girlie girl' we have been told, but loves black and HOT pink!

Some of you may be aware that on Monday 4 November there is a very special Blog Hop happening called 'Spread the Love', this Blog Hop is being organised through Stamp Something  and you can read about it here.  Erin and Denise from Stamp Something are encouraging everyone who is able to make a card for Jaimie, to pour out love and support for this brave little girl!  The details for the Blog Hop are here  and also where to send your card, otherwise you can contact me and I will point you in the right direction!

I used the Layers of Color elephant from the Polka Dot Parade, Layers of Color is one of companies sponsoring this Blog Hop and has donated Stamps as a prize - hopefully you have been seeing some of the cards the Guest Design Team have been making and posting on their Blogs - if not then pop over to Layers of Color and see where they all are - they are stunning - prepare to 'fall in love' with their gorgeous images and find out about the New Releases coming soon!!

Thank you for coming by today, it has been lovely to take time out from the projects I have been making for up and coming events (hint: New Release Party, Blog Hops) and make a card for something so meaningful - I am going to make another card for the day of the Blog Hop - couldn't resist sending her a few!

I hope you day has is a good one and you are with the people you love - let them know what they mean to you - it is so important!  God bless you!

STOP THE PRESS - MMSC NEWS!

I am so excited and honoured to have been asked to become a permanent member of the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge Design Team.  It really is a dream come true for me, I loved this challenge the minute I saw it and never imagined that one day I would be part of the Design Team.  I have had so much fun this past month getting to know each of the girlz, they are one amazing Team and it is such an honour for me- I was pretty sure that once my time was up as Guest Design Diva they would have to surgically remove me!!  But just quietly...shhh...I also spent the month trying to work out of there was a 'weak link' who would sneak me the sketches and then submit mine quietly, under the radar...but none to be found - they are TIGHT!! LOL!  Thank you so much Priscilla and the Design Team for this opportunity, I am so looking forward to working together with you all!  You have to know girlz - I have on my 'oh my giddy aunt - it is really happening face!!'

A special congratulations too for Carol, who has also become a permanent DT - Carol is so amazing and is a 'power force'...you give so much Carol and I am so looking forward to working together with you!  Carol has been such a big help for me as I find my way around the next stage of blogging - Carol - you know you are my new BEST FRIEND!! LOL!

It is a pleasure to welcome  the Guest Design Diva  for November - I hand over the batton to the lovely Sandee...don't we all love her work -  it is always amazing, in a league of it's own!  Sandee has been a faithful Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge player for quite some time now.  Her work is just amazing and she is extremely talented. I know her work will bring so much inspiration to the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenges this next month.  Congratulations Sandee - what a great month we are going to have!

I would also like to take this opportunity to wish Shawne all the best as she takes time to focus on her beautiful family and of course on her expanding stamp line. Shawne has joined Sonya and Kimmie on our prestigious Alumni list.  I have loved the inspiration that Shawne has brought as a member of the Midnight Madness Design Team and know she will be missed!  God bless you Shawne!!

Well, that it it from me - there is plenty more happening over at Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge  so hop over there and check it out!!  Oh and it gives me great pleasure to sign off as:

MM Chalking Tutorial

Chalking is such an unrated technique, one that I just love for a number of reasons...the first being that it is so easy and they are so 'kind' to work with - while you are using them dry you can rub out any mistakes (phew!)  I have been asked so many times to show how I do chalking, that when Priscilla from Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge asked me to consider doing my first Tutorial as the October Guest Diva, I knew it would have to be on chalking!  Please bear in mind this is my VERY FIRST Tutorial....

These are the basics to get your chalking happening:

~White card stock for stamping your image.  I have found that some card is better than others for chalking, if they have a 'coating' of any sort, then the chalks don't adhere too well and it is TWICE as much work with less result!

~ Blender Pens, I use the Stampin' Up ones and really love them!  Don't throw away your older ones, they are still great to use and I will show you why as we go along.

~ Cotton buds, or as many of you say 'Q-tips'  These are the best thing.  many people use eye shadow applicators, but I have found that cotton buds are perfect - I love them for this!

~ A Water Colour Pen or Pen, for adding fine detail.  I also use White Gel Pen a lot for highlights as well as Glitter pens.

~ Dimensional Magic - this is the same thing as Crystal effects.  This is to add gloss to any features - depending on the card

If you are cutting out your image, which I often do, don't do it until after you have finished, it is easier to work that way!   Okay...we are ready to start.  I start with a Cotton Bud and colour all the flesh areas.  I basically use the same technique as Water Colouring, you start with the lightest colour and applying about 3 applications, each one going a shade darker IF YOU CHOOSE!  remember you are not for definition with this layer - we are just setting a base to build on as you can see here!

I like to have shading with the clothing and start from the outside in, leaving a strip of white in the middle, again you build these layers as you go and can make the gap smaller of you need to, blending as we go....remember nothing is permanent at this stage!!  Something like this is what we are aiming for:

Okay, now we are starting with the second layer of colour...this is still done with the Cotton Bud and you can use a darker shade if you wish. I usually use the same shade for clothes and go one darker for the face, arms and legs, but only slightly darker otherwise you get a bright 'sunburnt' look - not to pretty on an image like this GURLEE GIRL!  Just take your time, once you get going you will be surprised how fast chalking is....
I do each layer of colour fully before going onto the next...you should be building depth as you go.  At this stage you can rub out anything you aren't happy with, have perhaps gone over the edge or want to add some shading!!

Note - I do NOT add the colouring on the cheeks until last!

You can see now the image is starting to 'take shape' and you are getting the definition - this is where it gets exciting...the BLENDER PEN!!  I use this to add the final definition, really defining light and shade and adding those extra touches that you would like to have stand out.  this is totally a personal thing, the same as water colouring - this is where it reflects your style.  I have looked at many styles with colouring and taken what I like from each, put it together and come up with my own 'flavour.'

Once I have done this I use a pen, in this case a red one, to do any finer lines and detail eg. the swirls and detail on the shoes, the cherry on the ice cream, anything you think needs it!

Finally, I add those extra touches, such as her 'make up' starting lightly and only using a Cotton Bud  - careful here as the colour builds pretty quickly at this stage and it is easy to add too much - you don't want to be doing too much rubbing out at this stage!  Once you have used the blender pen the colours are more permanent and definitely bolder.  I add a white spot to her cheek with a White Gel Pen - it makes highlights her face.

and here is the finished card:

A TIP FOR YOU!!  I have used new cotton buds and the newer Blender Pens for this Tutorial, but don't throw out your cotton buds and Blender Pens too soon - I love using the 'seasoned ones' and have included this photo to show you what I mean - you may want to 'brace yourself' they are not pretty but they work beautifully!!

Thank you for taking the time to have a look at this Tutorial.  I hope it has been of some help to you - don't be afraid to give it a try - it is easier than you think!  Please pop back and show us what you have done - I would love to see some chalking on your Midnight Madness  Sketch Challenge!!  God bless you!

The Weekly Sponsor is:

Shawne, from our very own DT, has her own stamp line and has very generously offered up a $25 Gift Voucher to the store that features her line.

For my card I have used a Penny Black image - how could I resist with gorgeous 'babe!'  I coloured her with chalks and wasn't that happy with the results UNTIL I added orange to the colour and it just lifted the whole card!!  The image has been layered into black CS and popped up on dimensionals.

The DP is some that I have been given from another friend Hannah (aka bubblefrog)  Hannah has given me HEAPS of different DP's that she never used and I love them all - you can never have too much variety - this is my last piece of this one - I am surprised how much I have used it!!  I have also used the fabulous wood paper from our very own Sue - I received some but not intime for last weeks challenge so used it this week and I have tio say I was pleasantly surprised at just how fabulous it is to work with - the variety is amazing for a start...and it cuts like a dream...don't be shy, check it out here - you won't be sorry!

The mirror is coloured with a silver glitter pen and then has had a coat of Dimensional Magic added to it - as usual the photo doesn't do it justice, but we have all come to expect that anyway!!

and then there is the lips....you gotta love those lips...they are from a clear set that I picked up in a local supermarket - and they have been used so many times....adorable darh-ling!!

Pastel Palette

Today I look some time to finish a card I had stared days ago, actually I coloured the image in at my Scrapbooking Class and put it aside to use on a card..one day!!  Well today is the day, I was inspired by the Featured Stamper on SCS this week - rachelhope13 and what a gorgeous gallery - there is something there for everyone!!  I was inspired by this card.

I embossed the CS with the Stylised Flowers embossing folder and sponged around the edges with Distressing Ink, the image was coloured using SU Inks Pads and a Blender Pen, I love going to Ann's classes, you come away with so much - it is great to meet a Demo who is all about the art involved and not about the money, Ann finds such pleasure in getting us inspired and equipping us with as many skills as she can - her art and her friendship have come to mean so much to me!!

I sponged around the image and  layered it onto brown CS (Choc Chip I am thinking!) added the pink CS behind and of course the flower....now I don;t have those gorgeous swirls that Rachel has, so used the punched branches that have been sent to me by one of my Twisted Sisters Lesley (aka Marleygo) thanks Lesley!!  I have finished off with pink half pearls and that gorgeous button that I was given amongst a 'gazillion' others - it just fits here beautifully!!

Thank you for coming by and for your comments - I love knowing you have stopped in, it means so much to me!!  God bless you!

God's Little Rock Stars

Hello!  I don't have a card for you today, I have made one and will post it tomorrow when I have photographed it in the daylight, infact I have been busy making lots of cards for other projects - you will be able to see them soon....what are they for - a hint...read the New Release Party post above.....keep checking back for more details and exciting announcements...there is more to come - plus I will have something exciting to share later this week - so make sure you come back to find out what it is!

In the meantime I thought you would like to see a photo of my DD2 at the Spring Fair held at the school our children attend.  DD2 sang a song that she had written, called 'Jesus' with some help from her friends Sasha (on the left) and Juanitta on the right - they did so well...it was DD2's first PUBLIC concert and she did so well - Sasha played the piano and added some vocal support and Juanitta was a backup vocal - such a polished performance - I would have loved to have put a video clip BUT the batteries on the camera went flat - so frustrating!!

It is Sunday night here and it is time for me to get off the computer, which is so much easier said than done, especially with uniforms to....wait for it...I am going to say a 'SKEERY' word - IRON!!!  Ahhh - I hope you are okay after hearing it! LOL!  Thank you for visiting and for all of the encouragement you give me through your comments - you are a blessing to me!  God bless you!

A piece of Heaven on earth....My Garden!
