Kraft-ing Today - It's an Aussie Thing

Today I am sharing something a little bit different - I am not crafting today but Kraft-ing instead.  For those of you who follow my Blog, or at least visit on a regular basis will know that recently I went on the Spellbinders Retreat in Phoenix - if not, you can read about it here and here.

While there my Aussie Team Mate and friend Beck Beattie and I  hosted an Australian Afternoon Tea - it would not be Australian without Vegemite - yes we took some along, as well as VitaWeet (Tim Tams by the dozen, Wagon Wheels and Caramel Koalas too), but in all honestly, you have never had Vegemite as it was meant to be eaten until you have had it on hot toast - and I am going to show you all how it is meant to be eaten...get those taste buds ready...

Start with a jar of Vegemite and real butter - none of this margarine business - it has to be butter!

Cook your toast - make sure it is nice and hot

Liberally spread the butter on the hot toast so it melts...

For those professionals among us, score some lines into the toast with your knife so the melting butter can soak into the toast

NOTE:  Most important - do not leave toast crumbs or any signs of Vegemite in the butter - not appreciated - just sayin'!

Start by spreading a light layer of Vegemite, you can add more as you adjust to the flavour- definitely a case of  'less is more' as you start out - but for those who LOVE it - layer it on....

Now, the most important part - get comfortable and take that first bite....feel the first hints of flavour as they make their way across your taste buds, a little bit salty, savoury and YUMBLY, as my DH would say,

You either love it or NOT!  From experience I have found that a lot of people who don't, have used too much too soon.

What is Vegemite - it is not a meat or vegetable product - it is a Yeast Extract - full of all the Vitamin B's - very healthy!

Here is a little look at the Spellbinders Aussie Afternoon Tea

I hope you have enjoyed this 'tasty morsel' I have shared with you today - something fun and different - but oh so YUMBLY!  Thank you for your comments and all of the support you give me - you make blogging such an amazing place to be!! Your encouragement is such a blessing for me - it makes my day! God bless you!

Love Tulip

Today's card is another one that has been created using those things that are forever lying on my desk...

.

I love to see the bits and pieces that I deem too good to throw away, taking on life as a card or something similar.

I have used a doily - one of hundreds in a packet - designed originally to sit under a cake - but I can find many other uses for it!  I have also used one of the newly released Decorative Labels Twenty-Eight   Spellbinders® Decorative Elements Nestabilities®. This has been cut/emboss using the Spellbinders Grand Calibur® Machine.

The bling is Want2Scrap© - Swirls Finesse - LeCreme.  The lace is part of a RAK from a dear friend - how gorgeous is it!

This card is for the following challenges:
 Artistic Inspirations - Swirls
Paper Playtime - Use Pearls
Pile It On - Designer Paper
The Squirrel & the Fox - Spring or Autumn
A Gem of a Challenge - Anything with a B (bling)

 Imagine Crafts/ Tsukineko Supplies:
  • IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Vertigo™
  • IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Sponge Daubers™
  • IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® StazOn® Solvent Inks in Sunflower Yellow
  • IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® StazOn® Solvent Inks in Blazing Red
  • IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® StazOn® Solvent Inks in  Cactus Green
  • IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® VersaMark™ Watermark Ink
IMAGINE Crafts® Embossing Powder™ in Iridescent
  • IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Fantastix™ Multi-Purpose Applicators
  • IMAGINE Crafts® GlazOn™ Layer Protectant
Preferred Promotional Partners:

Other:   Want2Scrap© - Swirls Finesse - Creme, Heat Tool, Seam Binding, recycled chain, star embellishment, glue

Using the Spellbinders 2011 Heirloom Ornaments Shapeabilities, cut one (1) #5 Die from the Vertigo™ Run this through the Grand Calibur Cutting Machine once, then turned it 90 degrees to make sure it had cut right though.

NOTE:  Vertigo™ is available in 6 patterns- Taffeta, Tilted, Rattlesnake, Prism, Pebbles and breeze.  For my project I have used the Taffeta and comes in either 12x12 or 6x6 sheets.

The cut and embossed Vertigo™ has then been embossed using the Holiday Magic M-Bossabilities Folder.

The raised edges were sponged using the IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® StazOn® Solvent Ink in Sunflower Yellow and an IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Sponge Dauber - be careful not to cover all of the ornament.  Once the ink was dry IMAGINE Crafts® GlazOn™ Layer Protectant was applied using a IMAGINE Crafts® InkBlusher™.  A thin coat dries very quickly and enables layering of the StazOn Ink without the ink bleeding or smearing.

NOTEVertigo™ works best with StazOn or pigment inks.

IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® StazOn® Solvent Inks in Blazing Red is applied to the 'star' areas using a IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Fantastix™ Multi-Purpose Applicators.  Once again the IMAGINE Crafts® GlazOn™ Layer Protectant was applied using a IMAGINE Crafts® InkBlusher™

Turn the ornament over and apply the IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® StazOn® Solvent Inks in Cactus Green to the swirls using a IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Fantastix™ Multi-Purpose Applicators.

Using the 2011 Heirloom Ornaments Die and the Precious Metals Premium Craft Foils Assortment cut the top of the ornament and glue in place - leave to dry.

Finish off by adding a Seam Binding bow to the top of the ornament.  Punch a small hole in the top portion and add a chain for hanging.  I have used a recycled chain.
