SSIC Cracked Roses

It is time for this weeks Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge, this week our hostess is Helen, who has chosen the following scripture:

 "He heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds" (NIV) Psalm 147:3

Helen has challenged us to use something "broken and put back together" on your card.

For my card I have used an image from the JustRite® Papercraft  Shabby Chic Labels Four stamp set, I have cut it out using the Spellbinders Labels Four Nestabilities and the Grand Calibur® Machine.  The image is coated with Dimensional Magic and once dry, placed in the freezer for ten minutes, then carefully cracked and rubbed over using Vintage Photo Distressing Ink to make the image look aged and vintage.

SSIC Watching

I am sharing my card for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge this week.  Our Hostess is the lovely Sandie, who has chosen the following scripture:

 To everything there is a season,  time for every purpose under heaven:
 A time to be born,  and a time to die;
A time to plant,  and a time to pluck what is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
A time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
 A time to gain, and a time to lose;
A time to keep, and a time to throw away;
A time to tear, and a time to sew;
A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate;
A time of war, and a time of peace.
Eccl. 3: 1-8

Sandie's challenge is Time. Use clocks/watches, calendars, sundials, etc. OR black and white only (to represent night and day).

SSIC Peace

It is time for this weeks Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge, this weeks hostess is the lovely Peggysue, who has chosen:

Make a card that to you represents peace or calm; with an image, color scheme, CAS layout or verse, something that speaks peace to you, but peace symbols themselves are excluded. The card has to speak peace through your own style.  John 16:33

There is nothing more peaceful than being in the garden, we often unwind as we water the plants, it is so relaxing after a busy day, especially in an Australian summer.

I have used an image from the Flourishes Sweet Days of Summer
stamp set, cutting it out with Spellbinders Standard Circles LG Nestabilities, layering it onto the Parisian MotifsWant2Scrap Black Gems have been added around the circle.

The sentiment is cut out with the Spellbinders Fancy Framed Tags One Shapeabilities and layered onto lace and some narrow gingham ribbon.  The butterfly embellishment is tied onto the bow.

SSIC Handmade

This week I am honoured to be the Hostess for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge.

  I have chosen a well known scripture from Psalms:

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.  Psalms 139:14

My challenge is to create a project with something handmade on it - could be a flower, stitching, patterned paper - show us your creativity!

I have used the Our Daily Bread Designs Butterly Corner Stamp, stamping it in Black StazOn and colouring the image using the Crayon Resist technique using Distressing Inks and daubers.  A second butterfly has been stamped, coloured and popped up on foam tape.  The bling is from Want2Scrap.

The sentiment on the tag is from the Our Daily Bread Designs God's Love stamp set.  You can also see the machine sewing on my tag - I don't usually sew on cards but think I just might have to get the sewing machine out a little bit more often!

I have used the Spellbinders Classic Edges Two Edgeabilities  with the Classic Decorative Inserts One  for my lacy border on both the pocket and the tag.  My Dies have been cut using the Spellbinders Grand Calibur.

Who am I?’ I never cease to be amazed by the inward battle that so many people seems to have on an ongoing basis, this is made even more apparent to me living in a household with three teenagers and surrounded by their peers. Social Media is an amazing thing, it is also very eye opening.....

It is very clear in God's Word that our identity, who we really are comes from God - it is He who created us, who formed us in our Mother's womb and knows every fibre of our being - He gives us our true identity! Who we really are is not determined by our parents, sibling or friends, it is not something we earn or can take credit for - our identity comes from God alone.

We are God's masterpiece. We have been knitted and woven together by God. I am made by God and that makes me God's masterpiece; everyone of us is God's masterpiece because we have been made by God.

‘Who am I?’ ‘What makes me, me?’ ‘What makes me special and unique?’ ‘What gives me value and worth?  Not the right group, or how we look, no amount of popularity, or money, designer clothing, grades, physical fitness, sports, job, title, position – none of this gives me value and worth.

 The answer: I am God's masterpiece fearfully and wonderfully knit together in my mother's womb, someone Jesus came for and died for.

When we understand this, then we are free to be who we are designed to be - children of the Most High God - a chosen priesthood, unique - God's Masterpiece!!

SSIC Oh So Bright

What a fun time we had last week, celebrating the 3rd birthday of the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge - thank you for all of the support and love you give us each week!

  My post this week is prescheduled as I have just arrived in Melbourne to join Stacey Caron and Kim Hupke from Spellbinders Paper Arts for a few days - what a blessing!

This week our challenge is brought to us by the lovely Jerusha who has chosen:

 " For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins."
Romans 3:23-24

Jerusha has challenged us to use only bright colours, no neutrals, browns, etc.

I have to confess straight up that I have broken the RULZ - not intentionally, but broken them all the same!  I realised once I had photographed my card that my card base is white - does that count!?  Sorry Jerusha.....my bad! :)

I have used orange card with the Spellbinders A-2 Fancy Weave Card Creator, adding Basic Grey paper, lace flowers and Wild Orchid Flowers.

The gorgeous butterfly is a Donna Salazar Wonderful Wings Licensed Design for Spellbinders, it is paired with the coordinating Want2Scrap bling.  All of my Dies are cut using the Grand Calibur.

This card is for the following challenges:
2 Sisters - Fall
Allsorts - Layers
