LOC Birthday Girl

I have a birthday card to share with you today - we all need more of these on hand!

I have used some DCWV DP - from the Whimsical Stack, along with some scraps from the McKenna DP from KandCompany.

The image is from the Sweet Silhouettes clear art stamp set illustrated by Nina Brackett for Layers of Color

The sentiment, also from the Sweet Silhouettes set is embossed using Tsukineko Versamark and SU White Embossing Powder.

I have used the Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Pendant and Foliage Dies, they have been cut using the Grand Calibur.

LOC Vintage Tag

I am back to day with something for Christmas to show you - this time it is a tag

created using the Layers of Color Vintage Postcard cling art stamp, which just quietly - has done the majority of the work on this tag, but I am sure you have noticed that already!

I have added one of the little Cherubs from the Angelic art stamp set, topped with a clear glass button,

The image has been stamped in Tsukineko Versafine ink and layered into one of the fabulous Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Rectangles - I love this Nestibilitie, it is high on the favourites list!  The Die has been cut using the Spellbinders Grand Calibur!

LOC Blessings

I am back with another Christmas card to show you today - using the wonderful Layers of Color Christmas Verses art stamp set.

This set has so many wonderful verses and sentiments that are as lovely on the outside of a card as they are on the inside.

  I have  cut the sentiment with the Grand Calibur using the Spellbinders S4-110 Classic Oval LG and layered it onto the Fleur de Lis Die (thank you Bridget)

The dove is from the Angelic art stamp set and has been lightly coloured with SU Chalks/Pastels and had Kindy Glitz added for a touch of shimmer.  This has been added to a hand dyed Seam Binding bow.

A quick and easy card, amazing how a few layers gives such dimension - something I love on my cards!

LOC Noel

How are you enjoying the new release from Layers of Color - they have certainly changed my Christmas Cards - in the best way possible!

Just quietly  - the past two years I gave my friends cards I had bought as I was so busy making cards for the Boutiques that sell may cards I had not time left to do my own - but not this year...

Noel comes from the Christmas Verses art stamp set  - the font is divine and works beautifully as the focal point nestled neatly in the Spellbinder Nestibilities - I have used Labels Fourteen, Labels Three and the Fleur de Lis (thanks Bridget!) These have been cut with the Grand Calibur.

Layers of Color Belle Brocade art stencil definitely makes a bold statement on this card, together with the softness of lace - definitely a combination I will be using again.

Spellbinders Labels  One has been used to cut this image, it has been cut with the Grand Calibur.

a Tim Holtz Flourish has been added, along with some braid, lace and some mulberry flowers.

LOC Much Love to You

I am slipping in an extra card using Layers of Colors art stamps

I love the Vintage Rose art stamp set- so romantic and pretty.

It is coloured using Watercolor Pencils and Odourless Mineral Spirits and Paper/Art Stumps

The sentiment is from the new release Sentimental Banners art stamp set - isn't it fabulous the way it co-ordinates with the Spellbinders Ribbon Banners Nestibilitie

 I have used the Fleur de Lis Nestibilitie as a frame - cutting out the Dies with the Spellbinders Grand Calibur.

LOC FAF Persue Love

Fridays come around so quickly and Friday means it is time for faith Art Friday at Layers of Color.  This week I am sneaking in a little sneak peek but more about that further down the post.

I was inspired to create this page for my Paper Bag Album when reading 1 Corinthians - The Love Chapter 

'If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but I do not have love,

 I have become as sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.

And if I have prophecies, and know all mysteries and all knowledge,

and if I have all faith so as to move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

And if I give out all my goods, and if I deliver my body that I be burned,

 but I do not have love, I am not profited anything.

Love has patience, is kind; love is not envious; love is not vain, is not puffed up;

does not behave indecently, does not pursue its own things,

 is not easily provoked, thinks no evil;

does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices in the truth.

Love quietly covers all things, believes all things, hopes all things,

endures all things. Love never fails.

 But if there are prophecies, they will be caused to cease;

 if tongues, they shall cease; if knowledge, it will be caused to cease.

For we know in part, and we prophesy in part;

but when the perfect thing comes, then that which is in part will be caused to cease.

When I was an infant, I spoke as an infant, I thought as an infant,

I reasoned as an infant. But when I became a man,

 I caused to cease the things of the infant.

For now we see through a mirror in dimness, but then face to face.

 Now I know in part, but then I will fully know even as I also was fully known.

And now faith, hope, and love, these three things remain;

but the greatest of these is love.'

1 Corinthians 13: 1-13

This chapter is often read at weddings and beautifullycaptures Love - what it is and therefore showing us what it isn't.  I cannot read this scripture without seeing 'pursue love' - this is something that that requires action on our part.

This '1 Corinthians Love' is not all about emotion, although emotions are certainly a part of who we are, but this love is all about commitment and doing - yes, it would seem it is a verb!!  Pursuing love indicates that when it cannot be felt or found, we are to 'go after it'  This is one of those things that is not always easy to do - it would seem to me that if we have to pursue it, we are definitely not 'feeling it!'

Thankfully God knows that we are not capable of being all loving all of the time, life brings us challenges that test us and stretch us....He is talking about His love - that is there for us.  God's love has no limited and bounds, it is not conditional, indeed it is unconditional and freely flows for us today as powerfully as it did the day that God sent His Son into the World to save us - I don't know about you, but if there is love like that in this world - then I want it.

I pray that today, that we will all be aware of Gods unconditional love, for us and flowing through us!!  May we pursue love, the Love of God and love for one another - it is in loving this way that all men will know what we are His disciples - by having love, one for another!  God bless you!

MMSC105 Opulence

Tuesday comes around so quickly and with it comes the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge - and we love that don't we!!

This week I have had a lot of fun with one of Priscilla's new images - Royalty Kings Crown - how gorgeous is it!!  I decided opulence was the way to go

I used some of Teresa Collins DP - perfect (in my opinion! LOL)

I coloured the image with SU Chalks and  a Blender Pen and added it to a Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Frame - I borrows this Die and it is one I am going to have to get - I love it!!  The Nestibilitie has been cut out with the Grand Calibur - I love the crisp edges!

An Easel card seemed to be the way to go with this sketch and I dug deep into my stash of buttons and found these gorgeous CHUNKY and blingy buttons - adding to the opulent feel!
