Upcycled Birthday Roses

Hello friends, today I am slipping in a little bit of recycling - these beautiful roses are too beautiful to sit in a drawer unseen and makes a very pretty feature for a card.

I have cut out the roses using the Spellbinders Pierced Rectangles Die and lightly sanded the edges to add a distressed look - a favourite with me,

The smallest Die from the Die D-Lites Corners & Accents One has been adhered to the left hand corrners using liquid glue.  This has then been popped up onto the Amazing Paper Grace A2 Filigree Delight Card Creator - this has been backed using white card stock to highlight the beautigul filigree details. The layered rcycled image has been popped up using  Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L 3D Foam Squares and a computer generated sentiment adhered to the lower right hand corner of the imageFinishing off with Want2Scrap pink pearls.  Nice and easy and so worth recycling - don't you think!

TSC0719 Prettily Pierced

Here is my card for this week's Twisted Sister Challenge, it has been a while since I played along and I HAVE MISSED IT!  This group of Sistah's are such fun, each week we take turns to set the challenge and this week, it is my turn.  I have chosen Paper Piercing - nice and easy!!

I have used the Layers of Color Art Stencil Delicious Dots as a paper piercing template - how cool is that!  I love the way it has turned bout - I was inspired by our dear Stampin' friend and Sistah NinaB, whose cards just amaze me!  I love the way it turned out.

I then added some flowers from the Flowering Gems Art Stamp Set, these flowers are gorgeous and so easy to use.  they can be used as singles or layered, chalked, pencils, Copics, bling, shimmer - you name it, they make it look good!

To finish I added a row of lace and red Vintage Corners.  One easy card, just what we need at times!

I am linking this to the following Challenges:
Crafty Cardmakers - Inky Fingers
Polka Doodle - Summer Theme
Delightful Challenges - Summertime Challenges
My Partner in Crime - Summertime

You can see more of my projects in my Layers of Color Gallery, while you are there make sure you check out the other Design Team galleries there is so much inspiration waiting to be discovered.  You are invited to join us on our SNR Group where there is lots of fun and chatter (No surprises there I know! A Bird in the Hand

Hello everyone, I thought I would do a quick post before heading off to bed - it is only 11:30pm and an early night for me - gee, I hope I am not awake at 5am!! LOL!

I made this card for two special challenges and they are a bit inter-related for me - this first in the Twisted Sister Challenge to make a get well or an encouragement card and the second was to honour this week's Featured Stamper over on SCS, who is none other than my dear Twisted Sistah and very dear friend, Pat Smethers.

I have not chosen any particular card to case, but just some 'Pat-isms' have been added to my card!! You can see Pat's amazing gallery herePat - I know how you feel about these little Tilda's and I could not resist making one in honour of you!! (The Lolly Man and I think it is only fitting! LOL!) I have used a number of punches in honour of the hundred's of photo corners and flowers you have punched for me, what a labour of love!!

I have added the gorgeous lace that my Mum sent me - it is from my Great Grandmothers collection, which now resides with my Mum....thanks Mum!!  By the way, my Mum is known as SuperNan over at SCS and has been stamping for around 7 months now - if you get a moment I know she would love it if you sent a little 'luv' her way!

For the Twisted Sisters Challenge for last Friday, I decided to make a card  for encouragement - this little image just 'lifts my heart' holding that adorable little bird in her hand (I love birds!)    Each Square has been individually paper peirced and the swirl has had shimmer added, with the flower mounted on foam tape, for dimension and of course that gorgeous little 'bling thing' added!

I am linking this to:
Simple Doodles - Inspire Others - Anything Goes
Magical Crafts - Animal Mania
I have to say I was not too sure about this card and had to ask my DH if it was okay, apparently it is - I would love to hear what you think!  Thank you for your lovely comments - you are always so kind - you know I love seeing that you have visited!  God bless you!

Boy Child

I could not resist making another card with this adorable image from Layers of Colour, this time I thought I would make one that is suitable for a boy! One of the things I am determined to do as a card maker is to use my stamps more than once or twice - while I was over at Layers of Color I had a good look at their Design Teams cards, I spent ages there and loved every minute of it. One of the things that I couldn't help but notice was that each stamp was used more than once, infact many times in many different ways. It makes me determined to do the same thing - well to try anyway!

I have chalked this image, mounting it onto a Gold Scalloped Nestie (thanks to my friend melinda80) The DP is from a Blog Candy that I won from Abby at Abby's Garden - I am using it sparingly as I love it and can't stand the thought of running out of it! I sponged around the edges, then added sponged embossed CS which has been sponged with a dauber and I love the effect...usually I rub the ink pad over the embossing, but I am pleasantly surprised with this result...I like the 'shadowing' effect that it has! I scalloped the edge with the SU Border Punch and sponged down the edge of that! Those adorable wings are also from Layers of Color, Regal Wings. I chalked them and then added light gold highlights with a Gold Glitter pen. It is very effective IRL, but sadly, capturing it with the camera is an elusive dream!!! The buttons are attached with dimensions, just to give them that little bit of lift! The final touch is the Kaiser string of pearls that I have used on the top right of the card!

Thank you for visiting, I appreciate you making the time to come. Please feel free to leave a comment so I know you have been - I would HATE to miss you!!! God bless you!

Flourishes Challenge Card

Oh my giddy aunt - can you imagine my surprise to get a PM from Betty inviting me to be this week's Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC22) Hostess....I was in disbelief at first and then went through every motion possible....it took a day or two to settle down....Personally, I just love this Challenge, Flourishes is one of the first challenges I took part in outside of the standard SCS ones and I came to look forward to it each week.....then one week I looked at their newsletter and discovered I was the February Monthly Winner - yahooo, each week a gift voucher for their store is the prize.....then to add to my excitement I won the March New Releases - 3 SETS!!! I nearly screamed the house down, my poor DH.....I read it and screamed out, 'I won!' "What did you win?!' 'I dunno, but I won!' 'How'd you win?' 'I dunno, but I won!' I have come a long way since then!!! LOL!

I am both humbled and honoured to have been asked to host this week's challenge, I admire the DT's cards so much and as I started to look at previous challenges...I thought 'What have I done - what was I thinking!?!' These ladies are professional and I am such a novice. Thank God for a supportive DH...who gave me the little 'pushes' I needed along the way!!

I love this set 'Chairs for you' it was the one I chose with my first win, would it surprise any of you who know me and my style to know that I chose CHALKING for this week's challenge....I chalked the chair using....cotton buds/ QTips, adding layers the way you do when you watercolour, the final touches are made with a blender pen and chalks, this adds definition and depth. The vase of flowers is also chalked in the same manner....the flourish...was embossed in black and very carefully cut out - I would like to take the credit for this...believe me I did attempt one, but it needed bandaids, so I called upon my friend Chriss, who is a 'whizz' with a cutting knife....she did it beautifully first go - so thank you Chriss - I owe you!!! Now don't look too carefully as I did cut around the case of flowers!!!

The patterned Memory Box DP (also from Flourishes) has been run through the Cuttlebug giving more texture and the sentiment has also been embossed. For the finishing touched I sponged around the image and backed it with a rectangular Nestibilities (thank Melinda for making yours available!) and popped the flowers up on 3D foam squares....and there you have it!! If you haven't played along at all with these Challenges, you can check it out here

Be sure to check out the other Friends of Flourishes Blog team see what they created for you this week.
