LOC Dotted Delights Art Stencils, a Redraw and Giveaway!!!

This post is a bit exciting for me  - I created these Book Gems for the sneak peeks of the Layers of Color Art Stencils, using the Delicious Dots Art Stencil.  Laura asked me if I would like them featured on the back of the packaging - well, of course I said YES - what an honour!!

You have an opportunity to win one of the gorgeous Art Stencils - keep reading and you can find out how!!

I sponged the Book Gem with Distressing Ink and rounded the corners with the SU Corner Rounder.  .  The edges are distressed using a pair of scissors as I have misplaced my distressing tool (SOBBING!) But I must say I am not unhappy with the results I am getting with the scissors!

The gorgeous little flower some of you would recognise from the Merci Bouquet art stamp set - it fits perfectly in the centre of the stenciling.  It is coloured with SU Chalks/Pastels.

I have tied ribbon around the Book Gem and secured it through the centre of a pearl buckle/slider!  It is as easy as that!  I love these as an extra to put in a card - or even to use in a book - oh okay Craft Magazine! LOL!

I am linking this to the following:
Meljen's Designs - Fibre, ribbon or lace

LOC Faith Art Friday - Knit Together

It is one of my favourite days over at Layers of Color - it is Faith Art Friday - this week I have done a layout  I love this photo of my DS taken about 5 years ago and how perfect is it for the verse in Psalms 139 that says

'You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother's womb.
Thank You for making me so wonderfully complex!
our workmanship is marvellous - how well I know'

I used the new Layers of Color Art Stencils, spraying them with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, I love using these Art Stencils for layouts, they are fabulous for other projects as well, but for me they take scrapbooking to a new place and that is great!

I stamped the matching image from the Touch of Elegance art stamp set in Distressing Ink and was excited to find that the SU Scalloped Square fits perfectly!

The scripture is computer generated using the 'Papyrus' font -it is one of my favourite fonts, especially for scripture.  I cut out each line and sponged the edges, distressing the end of each strip!

God tells us in His Word that 'we are fearfully and wonderfully made'  What a concept - our God, the God Most High made us, every fibre of our being is formed by Him - we weren''t an accident, just brought together through careless moments or earthly passions, but the God Most High, our God and Heavenly Father created us with intention and did it wonderfully!

The scripture also tells us He is a God of excellence - therefore I can know that I am complete in Him - He made me how I am meant to be, any imperfections we have are not due to any over site on His part, they may be because of mankind interfering, but we cannot blame God - He does all things well!  This also shows me, that God, who created me so 'fearfully' must therefore have a plan for my life - I am not here by chance, but for a purpose - my challenge is to fulfill that purpose to reach my destiny!!  We are a deliberate act of our Creator God.

We often hear the saying 'God Don't make NO JUNK!  This is a truth and I love that saying...sadly so many people have been told that they were an accident -never meant to be - but what liberty there is for us with the KNOWLEDGE that God, the Creator of all the Universe has already told us that this infact is not true - therefore it is a lie!  There are no accidents in Gods economy - He created us, each one, knit each fibre of our being together and remember - God don't make no JUNK!!  Look at you - you're gorgeous!!

It is easier to maintain the outer at times than what 'lies beneath' - the heart!  We can cover imperfections that happen to our bodies over time (with compliments of the odd donut or choc chip cookie - LOL) with cleverly designed clothes and cover blemishes with creams and makeup, but we cannot cover those things that we have allowed our hearts to become 'tainted by, the things we go through in life and have affected the well being of our hearts - this my friends is where we can often need the most work - thank God He is the greatest Heart Surgeon of all time, He can take our hearts, whatever state we have allowed them to be in and return them to their original state - 'fearfully and wonderfully' made - this is good enough for me!!  Thank God for God!!

You can see more of my Faith Art in my Layers of Color Gallery here.  While you are over there you can read Lauras EXCITING news!!

LOC Stenciled Flower Tutorial & A Winner

Hello and welcome!  I am excited to be showing you another project I have made with the Layers of Color New Release Art Stencils.  I will also be announcing a the winner of an Art Stencil set that was up for the winning on my Blog Hop post - I will keep you in suspense just that much longer - first - the tutorial!

I brought the template for this fower while I was in New Zealand recently visiting my family - it was from the $2 Shop!  As soon as I saw it my mind started ticking...ticking...ticking... and this is what I came up with!

A flower for my DD2'a bedroom wall - yes, she is the 'girly girl!'

You will need the following:

LOC Art Stencils - Victorian Corner & Natural Flourish
3 different DPs of your choice
Circle Cutter
Distressing Ink (I have used Tim Holtz)
Scissors
Sponges or daubers - for sponging
Double sided tape
Embellishments - dew drops, buttons, anything with shimmer

Draw around the leaves on the stencil and cut out - I used 2 different DP's for variation.  Use your circle cutter to cut our the petals - leave the circles complete

Using your sponge or dauber and the stencil - lay the stencil onto the DP and gently dab the inked sponge onto the DP - careful NOT to overload the sponge - less is more - I always start lightly and add more - you have more control over the finished project that way!  You can always add more but you can't always remove!

I have placed the part of the Art Stencil pattern on the DP.  I have found it easy just to hold the stencil in place with my fingers....and have not had any slipping happen.

Place all of the stenciled pieces onto the template to finalise the placement of them

You can see with this one I have turned the images all the same way

I have added paper piercing around the circle, layering it with a scalloped circle, white circle and a fabulous large button with thin gingham ribbon threaded through!

As you can see I have added some dew drops to bling it up!  Here is the finished flower...

I hope this inspires you to try these Art Stencils and to think outside the box.

To celebrate the new release, Layer of Colors is having a 15% store wide sale through to Friday, June 18th so make sure you don't miss out and pop over there NOW!

Okay - for those of you who have been waiting, the winner of the New Release Art Stencil from Layers of Color is....

drum roll please....(c'mon I had to say that - my DH is a drummer!LOL

the winner of an Art Stencil of her choice is...

MMSC58 Melting Moment

What a week it has been - while most of you are enjoying the warmer weather, we have been having temperature that are REVOLTING AT Night - around the minus 4-5 degrees Celsius - brrrrrr!!  Great weather for staying home and.....yes...you guessed it...creating!!!  Perfect opportunity to create my Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge card for this week!

I have used an adorable Gurlee Girl image - how adorable are they,  Gurlee Girls was the first one of our sponsors that I used an image from when I first started at MMSC - I have been looking forward to using another one - this Gurlee Girl is perfect with her hot Cocoa!

I coloured her with SU Chalks and a Blender Pen, then cut her out and popped her up with foam dots into some card stock embossed with the Divine Swirls embossing folder - it made me think of swirls of steam from the hot Cocoa!

I enjoyed this sketch but had to do some thinking about the panel at the top - I decided on this white lace and threaded a thing strip of one of the DP's through it, so the colours matched exact, then a small black brad was added in the centre of each lacy flower.

So what do you think of it - I love the colours and the warm feel - it is your turn to show us your stuff' with this weeks sketch - here it is - get creating and I will be there to see your card!

Once again, it's "YOUR PICK" Make it fancy, clean and simple, or somewhere in-between. Its as easy as 1-2-3 click here to see both sketches

I am excited to be showing you this Altered Album that I created using three of the Art Stencils, you can see how versatile they are and how well they work with each other and the Layers of Color art stamp sets.

Belle Brocade Art Stencil, sponged it with Distressing Inks and added Gold Half Pearls

This close up really shows off the pattern of this stencil, so elegant!

The next Art Stencil is the Natural Flourish, how perfect is this is adorn with images and sentiments, they are perfect for creating your own DP

I have used the butterfly from the Layers of Color Flutterescent art stamp set - my favourite butterfly - you may know that is you are a regular to my Blog - it features regularly!

The Vintage Medallion Art Stencil - so elegant and stunning, again I have inked it with Distressing Inks and added the darling Chickadee from the Backyard Birds art stamp set, along with miscellaneous sentiments.

The final 'page' is featuring the Joyful Noise art stamp set, the young lady I have made this for is a musician and this is perfect for her.

I have randomly stamped the music notes and the single flower from the Merci Bouquet art stamp set, lightly colouring it with chalks and adding Kindy Glitz to the centre of each flower.  The Cleft is also lightly chalked to highlight it.

And of course the hymnal has been torn and inked before being added down the side.

The whole thing comes together with ribbon and lace - so what do you think - don't the Art Stencils add so much elegance, and they are so easy to use.

SSIC It's a Man Thing

It is Sunday and that means it is time for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge  and we love that don't we!!  This week I have made a different card for this challenge, I usually make faith based cards BUT could not resist using this fabulous image sent to me by a dear friend on SCS - thank you Celisa!!  The lovely Lisa has challenged us to make a Fathers Day or masculine card or project....

"You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs--he wants to please his commanding officer. Similarly, if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not receive the victor's crown unless he competes according to the rules. The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops" 2 Timothy 2:1-6

I do have to say at this point - that my DH thought this image was rather funny BUT that is NOT reflective of our house - LOL!  Those of you who know me, know that I am a chatterbox - but it may shock you to know that I can be as quiet as I am noisy - it can make my DH worried when I am so quiet - LOL!  But we can be in the same house all day and not talk but still communicate - I love that about us!!!

I have coloured the image with SU Chalks and a Blender Pen and distressed the edges.  I wanted to frame the image but not make it too feminine so I used the Cuttlebug Die and layered the ends of it along the top and bottom edges of the image, sponged them and added some small Kaiser gems.

Both DP's have been embossed, I love the  textured look, particularly on a masculine card.  Both of these embossing folders have been RAK's from my dear friend Sabrina (okimom2girlz)  Thank you Sabrina you are such a blessing to me on so many levels!!

I have given the above scripture a  lot of thought and realised that really Paul is telling us to be faithful not only in passing on Gods Word but also who we pass it onto to!  That we need to toughen up and not run for cover when things get touch - be prepared for that storm and then ride it out, the same way Jesus did.  It is so easy to get distracted along the way, but those things that don't really have any real value and only keep us from the things that matter - on the eternal scale of things, they are worthless.  Like the soldier on duty, we need to carry out the orders we have been given and follow the guidelines set our for us in the Word of God.  Like the hardworking farmer, who sows much, we will reap a harvest - both in the natural and spiritually!  The one who persists and works hard and gets to the end receives the prize.

It is definitely a challenge put before us to be disciplined followers of Christ - so often we can ride on the illusion that all will be wonderful when we become Christians, and yes, our lives are certainly blessed, but there is much to learn along the way and training is definitely required if we are to persevere, to complete our race.  The scripture Lisa has given us speaks to me of total service in Christ - Paul refers of us being 'Prisioners of Christ' - this was something I came to realise meant that we are not 'locked up' but rather 'locked into' Christ!  This was a relief to me as being locked up implies that it is not by choice but locked into, is security and safety - a totally different understanding!

I am linking this to the following challenges:
Totally Gorjuss - for the boys
The Crazy Challenge - Distress It

LOC Angelic' Sneak Peek 9

I could not resist showing you this layout I did on Wednesday Night at my Scrapbooking Night....I went with no motivation, infact had to force myself to go as it was COLD and I am happy just to potter at home, colouring, cutting...where ever the urge takes me....but I made myself go, even if it was just a social night for me!

Would it surprise you to know that this is never the case when I am surrounded by supplies! LOL!  Our theme was Flourishes - so naturally being in an ART STENCIL frame of mind lately, I went for the Layers of Color Natures Flourish Art Stencil.

I do have to add that the outcome of this layout was a mystery to me at the beginning, especially as I was well outside my comfort zone of Distressing Inks and surrounded by Stampin' Up' stash, thanks to my demo and friend Ann!!  I sponged in a pink - perhaps Rose Pink and added touches of Old Olive (I love this colour)

Ann is well used to me starting something at the Group and them coming home and changing it - this time I only added - I added the floral corners using the Merci Bouquet art stamp set, colouring it with SU Chalks and adding some Kindy Glitz (gotta have the shimmer)

I also added some flowers - these ones I won in a Blog Candy for Carrie are perfect.  Brads have been added to the centres of each!!  The bracket is made using the Nestibilities Labels 1 - I was surprised how much difference this little embellishment could make!

The sentiment speaks for itself! LOL!  This is a RubOn from Kaiser!

I am linking this it the following Challenges:

Spoon Full of Sugar - Floral Delight
Belli Challenge - Rub Ons
