LOC Architectural Blocks Frame

It is my DH's birthday today and I wanted to make him a special card....would you believe this started as a sunflower motif!? LOL! I started with the thought of making a card but as this started to take shape, it became so much more!

I had saved this image from The Graphic Fairy and although it was already coloured, I printed it in black and white so I could colour it in the palette I was wanting - I used my SU Chalks and a Blender Pen to add the soft tones.

I then used the Layers of Color Architectural Blocks art stamp set embossing it with Tsukineko Gold Embossing Powder - I am telling you, this Embossing Powder is DIVINE, as the frame took shape it changed my whole direction with this project!

I used two different blocks from the Architectural Blocks art stamp set to build this frame, cutting each one individually and popping it up on foam tape for dimension.

I am hoping these photos give you an idea of the depth of both the frame and the embossing.

The pearls have been added by hand using a toothpick and a glue stick - quite a labour of love I can assure you!!  Thank you Gunn, these are part of the fabulous RAK you sent me - I love these little ones, they are perfect for so many things!!

This is now in a gold frame and hanging up in our house - did he like it - I believe so!!  What do you think.....it was much harder to get a photo of the project framed - this will give you an idea of how it looks!

and here is the other creation I have been working on today - not with my craft supplies but in the kitchen...

This is DH's birthday cake - Mini Lemon Meringue Pies - YUMBLY!!  They are his favourite!
