LOC Wings of Hope

Some cards should never have to be made and this is one of them!  Some of our neighbours lost their 8 year old daughter this week, it has touched the hearts of everyone around in a very real way,

She had been battling cancer and was due to start prepartion for Bone Marrow Transplant and as they started this process she had complications unrelated her cancer and her parents had to make a decision that no parent should have to ever make - to turn off her Life Support.

I wanted this card to convey hope and what better symbol than a butterfly (yes, you knew I was going to use the Layers of Color Flutterescent art stamp set didn't you!)  I was very touched when I was at the funeral of a friend's niece who sadly passed away at 2 years old, she was a twin and it was heart wrenching.  At the graveside everyone was given a box to open and the most beautiful butterfly flew out of each box and fluttered their way up towards the Heavens.  As we watched this beautiful sight, each flutter seemed to lift everyones eyes and hearts upwards  It was the most beautiful symbolism - so naturally, a butterfly was to be on this card.

I inked this gorgeous butterfly embossing folder with Distressing Ink before embossing - I love the way it makes the deeply etched butterflies have come to life.

I added the  sentiment from the new release Layers of Color Sent with Love art stamp set, perfect for this occasion - the font is fabulous and adds a softness, that is needed on this card!

This card is for the following challenges:
Moxie Fab World - Trigger Tuesday: Sweets for the Sweet

  7. Hi Linda. Fabulous job on the layered embossing. It makes a beautiful card and I am sure the family will appreciate the love you have put into it. It is a tragic loss, and one no parent should have to bear but at least the kindness of a received card might help show the love & support of those around them. Thanks for joining us at Phindy's Place this week.
