LOC A Little Help Please...LOL!!

I am going to  say a 'B' word - are you ready for it - some of you are going to be shocked, some horrified and others will laugh - okay...put on your seat belt cause here I go....BRAYERING!!!  I tried it the other day and the result is terrible!!  My sincerest apologies to Michelle Zindorf and my friend Ann, who tried to show me the technique!  LOL!

I decided to use the result as if you didn't know it was brayering you wouldn't be laughing at it....but honestly - what happened!! LOL!  The half circle is the result of doing something we all know NOT to do - drinking a coffee while crafting  maybe I should call this card 'Bad Moon Rising' or something to incorporate it and make it look deliberate!!
The rest of the card I am happy with, especially this gorgeous reindeer from Layers of Color, using the Reindeer Waltz Clear Art Stamps, I have embossed it in black - don't you just love all of the detail!!

The embossing folder has had a Distressing Ink pad swiped over it and I love this effect!  A little bit of ribbon, bling and some inked tearing and you have one quick Christmas card - but oh the brayering.....LOL!

This card is for the following Challenges:

MMSC73 New Adventure and Winging It

Wahoo - it is  Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge time and we all love that what fabulous cards you have shared with us this week - I love seeing that you have done, you inspire me with each card I look at!

I have used this image from our weekly sponsor PaperWorks.Co.  How cute is this - I had a lot of fun with her, stamping the image twice and colouring them with SU Chalks, cutting around the girl on the bike and popping her up on foam tape.

This next card is made using Priscilla's fabulous Dragonfly, you can see it here - I love colouring this image - over here, dragonflies are very 'in' at the moment!  I have printed two copies of the image and coloured with SU Chalks, cutting out the wings from one image and popping them up on foam tape to add dimension.

These are cut out onto a Labels 4 Nestibilities and layered onto some embossed CS, using the D'vine Swirls embossing folder.

You can see the dimension in this photo, I have added pearls to the Nestibilitie and bling to the centre of the Dragonfly.  The DP has been embossed using Stylised Flowers and Vintage Corners have been added to four corners.  Two of the corners have had dragonfly brads added as a finishing touch.

and finally - this weeks sketch...it's "YOUR PICK" Make it fancy, clean and simple, or somewhere in-between.

FTTC85 Flying the Flag

I am just making it for this weeks Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge, it has been so long since I have played and I was determined to make it - phew!!  This weeks challenge is to make a celebration card and what better celebration is there than a birthday!!

I have used the Flag Iris image that I stamped off from my friend Michelle's stamps - thanks Michelle!!  I coloured with Prismacolor Pencils and sponged around the edges with True Thyme, layering onto purple card stock.

The DP has been embossed with the SU Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, sponged around and distressed. The panel with the image has been popped up onto the embossed DP with foam tape.  A panel of lace has been added and a Flourishes sentiment, finishing off with the purple gems either side of the sentiment!

Now for the next xhallenge - to get this posted before the challenge ends...LOL!

Thank you for taking the time to visit today and for your lovely comments - you make my day! God bless you!

SSIC LOC Cherished Peace

This week Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge is brought to us by our very own Miesje.

The scripture Miesje has chosen for this week is

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid."  John 14:27

Use a Christian symbol of peace somewhere in your card. There are many! Or a card or project that shows or shares Peace.

I have made another Side Stair/Step card - can anyone give me the right name for this and I will change it here!  I do love this style of card, it makes them so interesting!!

I used the Layers of Colour Merci Bouquet Clear Art Stamps  for two panels on this.  they have been coloured with SU Chalks

The sentiment is from a SU Set called Lexicon of Love - this is such a great set (thanks Ann!)  I love being able to use two colours with it!

For this panel I have used the Layers of Color Merci Bouquet and Her Majesty's Urns Clear Art Stamps, they have also been coloured with SU Chalks
When I think of peace, I immediately think of the garden - I love to wander through it and immediately the beauty of the Creator and His creation brings peace to my heart!  Peace is something that we all long for at one time or another in our lives - it would be wonderful to always have it, but life can bring us circumstances that can cause our peace to 'fly out of the window!!

The peace of God is not dependant on circumstances, infact it can be ours even in the most tumultuous times...when those around us are folding under the pressure of life, we can have the assurance of the peace that passes understanding!'

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Php 4:7

This card is for the following challenges:

ABC Challenge - D is for Distressing

Dreams de Jour

Therapy is not cheap - so we craft!  LOL!  Today I needed to do some serious crafting and get everything up across the dining room table and on every possible bench top available - a rare event was happening - I had the whole house to myself for a few hours....

I decided to use the stamp set Dreams de Jour that my DH brought for me well over 18 months ago and I have only used it once - so I thought I would 'ink this baby up!'  The background cardstock has been embossed with the Stampin' Up folder Vintage Wallpaper - I am loving this folder - gorgeous!  My friend Ann introduced me to inking the folder before running it through the Cuttlebug - what a great technique - it is so effective!!

I coloured the image with my SU Chalks and then cut it out with a circle punch and popped it up onto a scalloped circle with foam tape.

Some gorgeous satin ribbon from my dear friend Sabrina (aka okimom2girlz) was added and the bow made using my trusty 'Bow Easy'.  To finish off I added a flower through the centre of the bow and Vintage Corners with pearls.

I have also been working on some other cards but that is for another day!!

This card is for the following challenges:
Alphabet Challenge - V is for Vintage
Charisma Cardz - Anything Goes
Stamp Insanity - Embossing
ABC Challenge - D is for Distressing
The Crafty Pad - Embossing

I will leave you with a photo of our Fire Pit - we have been waiting to light it for months but every time the wood dried out enough, it would rain and we would have to wait again!  It is hard to gauge the size of the fire but it was HUGE - the pit is about 4 feet across and the flames were leaping over 9 feet high at first - and it was HOT!!!  We had a BBQ dinner and sat around the fire - what a fabulous way to spend the evening!!

Thank you for stopping by, you know I love to see you have been here!  I hope your weekend is a fun one and spent with those you love!  God bless you!

LOC FAF Our Stronghold

Thank you for stopping by today - Friday means it is Faith Art Friday at Layers of Color.  This week I have made a card using the Layers of Color Backyard Birds and Touch of Elegance Clear Art Stamps

Today I am sharing some scripture verses with you, they speak for themselves

The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble;
and he knoweth them that trust in him.
Nahum 1:7

And call upon me in the day of trouble:
I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.
Psalm 50:15

For thou hast been a shelter for me,
and a strong tower from the enemy.
 Psalm 61:3

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High
shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress:
my God; in him will I trust.
 Psalm 91:1-2

LOC Rose Tinted

I had a lot of fun making this card - so often I am making them for specific reasons, but with this one I came home from a Scrapbooking night with my SU Demo and good friend Ann and I was inspired to case one of her cards!  This is a very loose casing, but I just loved the look and had to try it

I also came home loaded up with Ann's scraps and decided to give them new like!  I used my Layers of Color Backyard Birds for the main image and lightly coloured it with SU Chalks.  The image is then cut out using the Labels 1 Nestie, with a little bit of tearing down one side and embossed with the Victoria Embossing Folder.  I have sponged lightly with Distressing Inks.

A strip of gorgeous lace was added and  a Wild Orchid Flower - aren't they divine - I love how much they add to a card!  I finished off with some Kaiser Half Pearls - this was a very quick card to make, which is always a plus!

This card is for the following challenges:
Charisma Cards - Anything Goes
Ai Factory - Anything Goes
Paper Take Weekly - Animal Magic
Crafty Pad - Embossing
Fairy Fun Friday - Embossing
Spoon Full of Sugar - Anything Goes
The Secret Crafter - Anything Goes

MMSC72 Pelican Brief/Bridal Bliss

It is great to see you here for this weeks Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge, there have been so many of you playing along and we love being inspired by your amazing creativity!  I have made a  few cards for this weeks challenge - the first is using an image from your monthly sponsor Sunshine and Giggles

I coloured the pelican with SU Chalks and a Blender Pen and popped him up with foam tape onto an Oval that has been cut with a Nestie and embossed with the D'vine Swirls Embossing Folder - this has been layered onto a Labels 4 Nestie

I found these shells embellies in my stash - how perfect are they!  The mesh is a remnant from a screen window and I loved the netting look of it, the final touch is the braid, which just fits so well with the textured CS - in my opinion!! LOL!

My second card is made using one of Priscilla's images, you can find them here - I think this would be among my favourites of the images - I have embossed the corset using the Victoria Embossing Folder.  It is layered onto some embossed and flocked wallpaper using foam tape/  This is actually a Gate Fold card but I forgot to photograph it that way - where was my head!?!

I added some gorgeous braid that I got from my dear friend and SU Demo Ann - it was in a bag of lace that Ann so generously gave me - thanks Ann!!  You can see more of the details in this close up!  The gorgeous roses are from my DT sister Gunn - in the amazing RAK she sent me - thank you Gunn - I am loving EVERYTHING and slowly starting to use it!!

This last card is made using Priscilla's gorgeous butterfly image - who doesn't love a butterfly.  This one is in very different colours for me, but I was using some leftover DP's and card stock that I got from Ann at our last Srapbooking Class - I am loving these summery colours.  The flowers again are from Gunn and I have added bling on either side.

As you can see below the butterfly is coloured with Chalks and mounted onto embossed card stock and backed with a scalloped oval.  The lace panel is has had brads added and I have finished off with vintage corners.

These are for the following Challenges:
Totally Gorjuss - Animals - cards 1 and 3
Crafty Calendar -  Blue - flowers optional - card 1
Daring Cardmakers - Things that Fly
Fairy Fun Fridays - Embossing - all cards
Sew Many Cards - Embossing - all cards
Stamp Something - Use a Digi - all cards
Cute Card Thursday - A Tweet and a Fllutter - cards 1 and 3
4 Crafty Chicks - Embossing - all cards

LOC High Flyers

Some moments were meant to be captured and this is one of them!  Two of my children, along with my DH got to go on a Helicopter ride - the first thing my DH grabbed was his camera and I am so glad!!

Our neighbour is the Manager of the Helicopter Rescue Base as well as a pilot there and does test flights at times - and this was one of them - he was able to take three extras - what a thrill for them all!

I just had to do a layout and used Layers of Color Vintage Medallion Art Stencils, sponging them with Distressing Ink in Scattered Straw and Walnut Stain, a large brad was added to the centre of each medallion (thanks to my dear friend Pat!)

I used the SU Spiral Punch to add an edge to each photo, to give it more of an aged look, along with distressing around the photo edges and the DP's.  I sponged around the edges with the Distressing Ink and lightly distressed around the photo and the DP.

The sentiment is from a Blog Candy and is stick on - so easy!

I have to say, this was one of the quickest layouts I have done.  Tempted as I am to add more, I don't want to take away from the photos - especially to keep it with a partially masculine feel - my son would be horrified if I added any flowers!  LOL!

This is for the following Challenges
I Did It Challenge - Keep it Simple - it is for me!!
Secret Crafter - Anything Goes
Daring Cardmakers - There is Something in the Air - Helicopter! LOL!
The Stamp Man - Distress It
Simon Says Stamp - I Like to Move It! Move It!
Tuesday Throwdown - Distressing

Thank you for stopping by and for all of the lovely comments you leave me!  I love your visits, it makes my day!  God bless you!
