AIR Tutorial May Number 1

I am back with my first Artist in Residence Tutorial for May - it is 'Artists Choice' and this is one of those times I am so glad that Imagine Crafts products are not just for paper...but have so many other possibilities....

As soon as my daughter commented that their was a mark on her top I know just how I could fix it and that I would use it for a tutorial - IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® StazOn® Solvent Inks are perfect, especially when used with the IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Fantastix™ Multi-Purpose Applicators

NOTE:  Although it is recommended to use fabric specific inks like Tsukineko® VersaCraft™, Memento Luxe™ or All Purpose Inks™ when working with wearables, I wanted to show the versatility of StazOn™ ink.  This project can easily be adapted to fabric projects like home decor items where working "outside of the box" with different inks and techniques can make amazing results!  Fabric items created with StazOn™ must be hand washed and air dried ONLY.  As with any fabric crafts, always test your fabric first for compatibility with the inks you're working with first.

  • IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® StazOn® Solvent Inks
  • IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Fantastix™ Multi-Purpose Applicators
  • IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® StazOn® Cleaner
Other:  Iron

Set up a mat that will stop any ink soaking through onto the ironing board cover and place the marked area of the top over it.

I started with the IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® StazOn® Solvent Inks - UltraMarine and lightly applied colour - following closely behind with IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® StazOn® Solvent Inks - Iris.  The IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Fantastix™ Multi-Purpose Applicators make coverage so easy, allowing me to get into the smaller points without too much smearing.

I did discover something that may help - the colour was a little darker than I would have liked it to be, so I  reached for the IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® StazOn® Cleaner and a Q-Tip, lightly dabbing and the colour lightened beautifully.  I then added some of the StazOn Iris lightly to the flowers around to blend the new leaf more - as shown in the photos below.

I finished off with ironing the inked parts with a dry iron - just to seal it a little bit more.

I love the fact that I can fix this top and am now looking for other projects along this line - nothing will be safe now!  IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® products are so versatile!

NOTE:  When StazOn is used on fabric hand wash ONLY and do not put in the dryer.

Thank you for your comments and all of the support you give me - you make blogging such an amazing place to be!! Your encouragement is such a blessing for me - it makes my day! God bless you!

  1. Wonderful save Linda, many years ago I dropped a Versafine ink pad on a cream cotton top, Like you I reached for my inks and used the Versa Magic inks to add some solid stamped hearts to mask the mark, it still looks good to this day. I bet your Daughter is really happy that you were able to save such a pretty top.
