LOC Sneak Peek 2 - Joyful Noise

Hello everyone - nice to see you today - are you ready for another SNEAK PEEK from Layers of Color!!  Today we are showing you this fabulous art stamp set called "Joyful Noise'.
I have two projects for you today and here is the first...

I have gone for softer colours here and love the way it has turned out. I sponged the edges of the DP and then added a paper doily - these are great for cardmaking and I love the almost Retro Shabby look that it gives.  I have used the musical flourish and cut it out, popping it up on foam dots.

The gorgeous large flower from my dear friend Sabrina (aka okimom2girlz) has been sponged and attached next to the Flourish, I have used one of the music notes from the Joyful Noise set and made it the centre of the flower, adding a semi circle of pearls.  The adorable little birds from the Backyard Birds art stamp set have been added to the top of the flower - the second bird has been popped up on foam dots for dimension and finishing with the corners stamped with a flourish from the Touch of Elegance art stamp set and some YUMBLY Kaiser half pearls in Chocolate.

That is my first card, how are you liking the 'Joyful Noise' art stamp set so far!?!

I am linking this card to the:
Stampin' Sisters in Christ  - Joy or Joyfulness
Crafty Calendar Challenge - Flower Power
Stampin'B - Spring or Easter
*******************************************

My next card is in soft colours again and I am going to tell you HONESTLY how easy it is to make, it would have taken me 10 minutes at the most!!  I am going to share the REAL PROCESS with you....not the professional version - are you ready....

Okay I go to my desk and think 'Oh my giddy aunt what a mess,' pick up a piece of DP that is just lying there , it looks pretty so I reach across for the Distressing Ink and the Joyful Noise flourish, thinking how it would make a great frame - so stamp it and doesn't it make a great frame.  Look at the butterfly and realising  my scalloped circle Nestie from Kathy (aka Watlle) is too small for this, stamp the butterfly, carefully inking half of it onto the circle and then the same half onto some white cs and cut the top wing out.

I take my well used Blender Pen and add a few wipes, liking the colour add a few more wipes and yes, the wing is coloured, attached to the body with double sided tape and the tip of the wing popped up on a foam dot.  It is looking good and then realise that the DP is a bit short for the card ., but nothing that two inked scalloped borders can't fix and....wha-la - one pretty card!!  Not too shabby - what do you think!  I love the look of it and how quick it was AND how I have got a few more scraps off my desk!!!  It really was that easy and I enjoyed the 'not over thinking it' process - if only they were all this easy!

Thanks for coming by, you know I love seeing that you have visited - your comments  are so encouraging, thank you!!  Make sure you pop over to Layers of Color and see what they have happening.  The New Releases will be in the store on 15 March and you are able to win ALL of the New Releases - yes all four sets - don't be shy - check it out!!. LOC Sneak Peek 1 - Vintage Rose

What a relief to be back online - I couldn't STAND being offline - the longest 24 hours of my life - it cut me off from all of YOU - not good!  I am happy to be up and running again  - I am very excited to be bringing you a 'Sneak Peek' of one of the four New Release art stamp sets from Layers of Colour. This one is indeed called 'Vintage Roses' and is just beautiful!    I have made two cards for you to see, both so different to show you the versitility of this set.

I have made an easel card, they great are they, so easy to make and so effective!  I have cut all of the roses out, stamping the curved one twice and creating a frame for the centerpiece.  These have been coloured with SU Chalks and a Blender Pen, I keep layering until I get the depth I am wanting.

The images are all popped up on foam dots, over some recycled lace, I must add here that I have picked ny colours for the roses from the gorgeous DP from Die Cuts With a View, it would have been very easy to go red or pink, but thought I would do something a bit different!

A strip of sheet music from an old hymnal has been distressed and layered onto some Olive CS and onto the DP on the base of the card.  I have added torn corners from the hymnal and layered them onto the same Olive CS.  Finishing off with a lovely old button that I have in my 'stash'!  The button has some gold filagree roses on it - perfect!

********************************************

My next card is also from the Layers of Colour art stamp set Vintage Roses
and has a totally different feel.  I have made this one monchromatic and just love the different sepia tones in it.  The roses have been coloured with SU Chalks/Pastels and a Blender Pen, note they are not coloured solidly, for a more natural effect,

Some thick recycles lace is attached across the middle of the card and some of the distressed hymnal is added ( I use the sheet music very sparingly!)   The rose is popped up on foam dots and the vintage corners added long with pearls in the opposite corners!  This is a simple card, just looks fuller!

I am linking this card to Stampin' for the Weekend  - Monochromatic

I am linking both these cards to the Crafty Calendar Challenge - Flower Power

MMSC44 A Touch of Madness

Hello everyone, great to see you here this week for the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge, I have something special to show you....I know you think the Fabulous MMSC DT are all so polished and professional - and you would be right, so you can image my surprise when I  was treated to this 'piece of art' on the DT Blog one day - look what they did to me - yes, those girls at Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge....I thought for this weeks sketch I would show you what happens behind the scenes....

Some of the Girlz have become Copic Certified and one of them surprised me by putting this photo up on the MMDT Blog, to show off their skills - NOW, I am NOT going to name names, but this DT Sister has probably announced on her Blog a while back when she got certified - but be aware that a few of them are now hold certificates....

So I decided that I would use it on one of the MMSC's and this one fitted perfectly!!  Now girlz, our Fearless Leader did know about this and we have had a good chuckle about it.  I made an easel card and matching 3D envelope, in keeping with this week's challenge and Monthly Sponsor - none other than our own Priscilla with her 'priscillastyles' store, better known to me as my 'partner in crime'...keep on scrolling down and looking as you go as it does not stop here - yes there is more.....

I decorated the envelope to match the card - using 'Die Cuts With a View' DP - (you gotta love their DP's) ribbon and bling. I added touches both front and back - that is the beauty of these 3D envelopes - you can embellish them to match every card, or even made gift boxes from them!  The kit can be found here

I have something else for you to see with this photo, but before we go there I know you are 'hanging out' for this weeks sketch - and here it is!

A BIG THANK YOU to our monthly sponsor - our very own Priscilla Styles, thank you Priscilla, I am loving these 3D envelopes, they take  a card to another level, it becomes a gift!  You can see her store here - did you know that Priscilla has a few digi's there as well!

and our weekly sponsor this week is Stamp and Create - thank you so much Lacey - those images of yours are adorable!

Stamp and Create

I have one more thing to show you....I hadn't finished with that 'Work of Art' yet - once I had taken the photo of the card and envelope I gently lifted off the front of the card and used it to make a Scrapbook page - I love this picture, it represents the fun we have everyday and being on the MMSC Design Team is something that I treasure and always will - this is going in 'place of honour' in my album - this is very much part of who I am!!  So thank you. -------- my dear DT sister - I love it - ha, nearly said who is was then!! LOL!

One of the funniest things was when my DD2 saw the photo, she looked at it so seriously and said, 'so which one is the real you!?!?'  LOL!  What is with that!?!?

Here are a  couple of close ups of the extras - my DH suggested I put the clock and have to at MIDNIGHT - why didn't I think of that! (Thanks Love!) The saying is just perfect!!

The Swirl is Grungeboard by Tim Holtz - I love Grungeboard - it is coloured with Tim Holtz Distressing Inks.  I did keep to the sketch except for the clock and the sentiment under it - I had to add those to balance everything - and I liked them too!

Thank you for looking, I know it was a longer post and thank you for staying with me - I hope you enjoyed our fun this week....you know, these girls are the best, I love each one of them, they have all made my life richer and I have so much fun with them.  My DH often says that he has never heard me laugh so much as when I am online with the MMSC Girlz, my friends - thank you girlz - for the laugh you gave me with this photo - I love it!  Thank you too for being so special and  supportive - you are all my mentors and have touched my life - I {{{heart you!}}}

The Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge is quickly approaching it’s one year anniversary and we would like to mix it up by adding new members to our team. Our DT is dedicated to making your crafting experience always new and exciting, so we are going to be changing things up a bit. The success of our Guest Diva has given us the idea to bring people on board for a longer period of time. We would like to give you the opportunity to work side by side with us for a 3 month period. We are looking to add a few new enthusiastic members to our team during the next few months. We are an independent challenge blog and do not represent any singular company. We have the wonderful opportunity to work with many different company's stamps and digi's. You would be ask to represent these companies through your work with one blog post a week and a few additional requirements. If you are interested in joining our team you can find out the details here.

Unfortuately our internet will be down for a couple of days and I will be later getting to your Blogs - But I will be there....also with comment moderator on (to make it easier for you to comment) your comments might not show up as quickly, but they will get published, even if I have to go and sit at McDonalds everyday and use their WIFI!! LOL!  God bless you

Wags'n Whiskers Bookmark

I could not resist playing along with the Wags'nWhiskers Challenge this week - to make a tag or bookmark.  I love their images, these designers have captured the innocence of the child and stolen the heart of this stamper.  I am blessed to have won one of their images 'Love You Sis' and hope to ink it up this week!!  I  have been wanting to make a couple of girly bookmarks and what better opportunity than this...

I stamped the image and coloured her in with chalks, cut her out and popped her up on foam dots.

I have added  ric rac and layered flowers, securing them with these tiny brads that I happened to find at the Art & Craft Show, I nearly gave them away but am so glad I didn't - how cute are these little hearts...awww!

Small pink pearls along the top corners finish it off nicely....I am sure this will not stay in our house for long, although both of my girls saw it and 'fell in love'  I am sure I will be doing some for them next!

I am also linking this to the:
Stamp Something - Something Girly

Thansk for looking and for you lovely comments - you always make me smile - I appreciate you taking the time to comment!  God bless you1

LOC The Will of God

I LOVE Faith Art Friday at Layers of Color and this is our first one for 2010 - what a pleasure it is to make this card, especially as I am combining it with one of my favourite challenges - Stampin' Sisters in Christ !!

I am basing my card on the scripture:
'The world and its desires pass away but the man who does the Will of God, lives forever' 1 John 2:17

The scripture is a RAK from a friend and is from Our Daily Bread Designs and has been cut out with a Nestie. I love the ODBD scriptures, they are great to use on cards and there is such a fabulous collection of them!  I am entering this in the Our Daily Bread Designs  Out of the Box Challenge.  It is also for the Twisted Sister Challenge from Pat Smethers - which is about reflection....I am reflecting on God's Word.

I have combined my card for Faith Art Friday with the challenge from SSIC to use worship God with what we make.  I believe that Worship is not all about singing a song in Church, or at home - but it is a lifestyle.  I love the song 'Heart of Worship' and the words speak to my heart every time I hear it....this faith we share is so amazing - it all comes back to the heart - there is no avoiding it - God is interested in our heart, more than how loud we sing, or how many times we sing a chorus or even - dare I say it - if we lift our hands or HOW HIGH!!

I am using the Layers of Color images Royal Birds - I just love the symbolism of birds and the Holy Spirit....and you know how I love symbolism with my faith based cards.  Don't you just love the bird house, this template was given to me by Laura, the owner and Designer for LOC.  It is so easy to use and makes a great card, it made me think of how in God's house there are many rooms - room for us all, He is not limited by the boundaries we put on things in this life.

The fence is a border punch from Martha Stewart, I have inked it and added the satin ribbon along with the lovely chiffon bow (thank you BowEasy!)  The bow is attached with a large gold brad and then the bird popped up on a foam dot, which has been attached to the brad, so that it will stick properly!

I have also created this fabulous 3D envelope using the 'priscillastyles' Envelope Kit - don't you just love it, I could not resist using it here, especially as the majority of cards I make have layers and more layers on them - this way it keeps the card from being squashed and also makes it a gift, especially once the envelope is embellished to match the card.  You can find this kit and more here.

Make sure you pop over to Layers of Colour and check our Faith Art Friday, you can also have a stroll through my LOC Gallery which you can find here.

Thank you for coming by and for your lovely comments!  I do appreciate your support, you make blogging such a pleasure! God bless you.

Just a Quick One Today....

because it is my birthday and I am going to indulge in all things 'wicked' - okay nice thought but seriously, I am going to 'chill out' and enjoy the day, while I slowly age second by second....arghhhh!  Can you tell I am feeling old today!! LOL!

I am showing you two more bookmarks, these are favourites of mine, I love the french vintage look and this set of stamps is one I have that does not see ink often enough!!!

They are pretty self explanatory really, I love it that these ones have a masculine as well and are great to slip in with a masculine card, for that little something extra.

Don't you just love this image, I did it on textured CS to give it more of an aged feel.  The embossed CS underneath adds so much textur - I love texture and have used it on the back as well.

Short post for me isn't it - well, don't get used to it, I have HEAPS of creations coming up in the next few weeks - so BRACE  YOURSELF and keep that coffee brewing for your visits!!!

Thank you for all of the birthday wishes that I have been receiving by every means possible, you are all making my day special...speaking of special - let me show you how we celebrate special events....are you ready for your sugar levels to take a HUGE jump...

YUMBLY isn't it - Black Forest Chocolate Pavlova!!  Sadly I won't be having this as I am diabetic...sigh!!  But I did get something special...my DH & kids gave me my Passport for my birthday...does he want me to leave him - NO WAY!!!  I am heading off to my homeland (New Zealand for those of you who don't know) at the end of May as a birthday present - look out MUM ( aka SuperNan)  Get those Craft Supplies ready otherwise I will go into withdrawal - and even more special is the fact that my DD1 is coming with me - she is working part time and wants to get a ticket and come with me - how much fun will that be, I am so looking forward to having this time together with her and the NZ family!!

Thank you for visiting today - if only it was in person!!  I am off to have lunch and watch a movie with my DH - BEAUT-I-FUL!!  I do appreciate the lovely comments and things you share here - you make my life so much richer - I am going to have to drop an 'L' word - I do LOVE you all - I am allowed to get gushy - it is my birthday! LOL! Have a great day!  {{{hugs}}}

MMSC43 'In Style' Priscilla Styles' That is.....

Hello everyone, I hope you are having a great week - it is about to get better because it is....Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge time.  We are really enjoying seeing all of your entries and appreciate the encouragement and support you show us - you are THE BEST!!!

It is a special month here for us at Midnight Madness, our monthly sponsor is our very own Priscilla Styles you can check out her store here.  We have all used her Envelope Kit and I have to say I am a convert - loving it Priscilla!!  I have seen these used each week by Priscilla and some of the DT and have been in awe of the gorgeous creations and now it is MY TURN to play!

I have also used this image from our weekly sponsor for this week - Sunshine and Giggles, how sweet is she!?!?  I have to say that I am not really a 'pink' person - I guess this comes from being the first girl on my Father's side of the family for something like 63 years - and yes....PINK, PINK, PINK!!!  But I do have to say I love it with this image and went for a 'girly' look.

'The DP is embossed with the 'Victoria' Folder and sponged around the edges, the butterflies are also sponged and had small pearls added ,

I had a lot of fun creating the envelopes and was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is.  Decorating them is the part that makes them unique and a gift in themselves.  I love it that they can be individualised and unique!  I have used the butterflies and some glitterly flowers on the front, along with a circle sentiment, some scalloped DP and the gingham ribbon.

I kept the back simplier and used the SU Scalloped Border Punch along with a flower and of course the ribbon.  I am sure as the month progresses, I may get more adventurous! I was a bit 'skeered' with my first one! LOL!  But needn't have been!

Just to finish it off I made a matching bookmark, as I had made a narrower card and made the bookmark as a filler - thanks Priscilla for the idea.....it makes it a lovely gift set - I can see more of these in the future!

Now onto the Sketch for this week - don't forget we do offer a CAS sketch and you can see both the sketches here.  It is as 'Easy as 1-2-3'  We are loving seeing the HUGE variety of styles - there is always inspiration to be found with your cards!

LOC BookGems

Hello friends, I have a few more bookmarks to show you, I have had a run of making them, this time using Layers of Color images.  I love the vintage feel they give, it is also a great way to use those leftovers that lie tucked away in every corner - so here not only are we creating, we are recycling AND cleaning the desk - wahoo - WIN:WIN!!  LOL!

I have used the Backyard Birds art stamp set, along with lace, flowers and pearls, rounding the corners of both the CS and DP.

and again here but adding some narrow gingham ribbon and a tag, this time using the Fiskar Sunburst Border punch for the corners..

This one was the eariest of all, I used the Butterfly Collector art stamp set, choosing two different size butterflies.  I stamped these randomly on the CS and then paper pierced a trail behind each of them!  I have also used the Fiskar Border punch to create fancy corners.

So there you have it - how easy are these, and so pretty! These are going as fast as I can make them.  I think I will make some more to have on hand, they are so nice to put in with a card, as an extra little something - what do you think!?!?

It is all happening at Layers of Color as the build up begins for Spring New Release - not one but four new sets of stamps.  You can have a Sneak Peek at Layers of Color's SNR Gallery - if you become a follower of the Group you can get a look a few days earlier and Laura is offering a 'one of'' discount for any sets purchased - how cool is that - make sure you check them out - you will not be disappointed!

Thank you for stopping by and for your lovely comments, I love knowing you have been....you make my day!!  God bless you!!
