LOC Dear Friend

I had to pop back with a second post to show you something different - well for me anyway!

This cute little deer was part of a Blog Candy I won a year ago and it has sat on my desk looking for a home - it is printed on actetate and  I was not sure how to use it, so decided on adhering it to the Spellbinders S5-025 Label Seventeen and using the Die as a mask for sponging with Scattered Straw Distressing Ink.  Little Roses from Wild Orchid Roses, along with Kaiser Half Pearls create a frame along the lower edge of the Die.

until I was cleaning up my desk and decided to use it with the Layers of Color Sent With Love art stamp set  - so cute and definitely a touch of whimsical

I was also motivated my the challenges over at Cards Magazine to create cards using at least three different border punches! I have used the Stampin' Up Eyelet Border Punch (from the top to the bottom) Floral Doily Accent Shapeabilitie from Spellbinders and the Picket Fence by Martha Stewart for my three border punches.

This card is also for the following challenges:
Crafts and Me - flowers
Digistamps 4 Joy - anything goes
Inky Impressions - punches or dies
Simon Says Stamp - anything goes
Critter Sketch - Anything Goes
Make it Monday - always Anything Goes
Ooh La La Creations - Punches/Dies
There's Magic in the Air - Punches and Cuts (at least 3 die cuts or any type of punches)

SSIC Blue Bird

Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge is brought to us this week by one of our New Design Sistah's MariLynn - what a privilege it is for us to have her as part of the team

The scripture MariLynn has chosen is

"And we know that all things God works together for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose."
 Romans 8:28

MariLynn has challenged us to use no designer paper - must start as a solid - I don't know about you but this is not a natural thing for me to do - I love Designer Paper - I love to emboss it, stamp on it and use it at every opportunity - so I am greatly challenged this week and have decided to KISS - Keep It Simple Sistah!! !  LOL!

I have used this gorgeous set from Stampin' Up, it was a birthday gift - my friends all know that I LOVE stamps - wahoo - thanks girls!!

I embossed the DP with a Tim Holtz Embossing Folder - I love the depth of the embossing - and sponged around the edges and even thought the DP is not patterned I love the look of it - see, I chose the busiest embossing folder that I have to compensate!  LOL!

The large flower from Kaiser was added on top of some crochet lace and a lovely old vintage button from my stash - I love the texture on this button.

This card is for the following challenges:
Just Add Ink - Just Add a Flower
Fashionista Friday - Things with Wings
Stamp Something - Things with Wings
Creations by Gill - Birds in Your Garden
Sugar Creek Hollow - Embossing
Sweet Stampin' - Try Something New - plain CS

A big THANK YOU to our sponsor for this week

MMSC101 Lullaby

It is great to be back with this weeks Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge...if your household is anything like ours, you have had an UBER chocolate overload and are now ready to settle back and get routine happening, with the odd salad thrown in - OR NOT!  LOL!

For my card this week I have used an adorable image from our weekly sponsor Shawne from Studio 313 Exclusive Designs.  I have printed this darling image three times and cut each one down to fit the sketch.

The image is coloured with SU Chalks, sponged around the edges and popped on pink card stock with foam tape.  I have lightly added some Kindy Glitz to the wings for a little bit of shimmer.

The small white satin rose, along with the swirls created using small pink pearls, a glue stick and a toothpick - challenging in its own right (LOL,) add a soft touch between the images

The gorgeous white pearl ribbon is from my dear friend Melisa - thanks Melisa, I am loving it!

This card is for the following challenges:

A Gem of a Challenge - Pearls and/or Swirls

LOC Sweet Girl

When asked how you can you love your children the same, not loving more one than another, my DH always says that children are like ice cream - we all love ice cream - it comes in different flavours.  In our house we have three different flavours - and this girl - my youngest daughter - is a flavour all of her own!! LOL!

As soon as I was given this gorgeous DP I know what I was going to use it for - a layout of my DD2 - it is so her - she is my 'Girly Girl' who loves all things pretty and feminine

So naturally I had to use my Layers of Color Flowering Gems art stamp set to enhance this layout.

Bling - a must - she adores the blingiest bling - this divine swirl was part of a RAK from my dear friend Priscilla - thank you Priscilla, as you can see I am savouring every piece of it!!

Card Classes

I am teaching Card Design at my local Craft Shop - Scraps'n'Stuff at Richardson and I am looking forward to it.  I thought I would give you a look at the cards I am going to be teaching.

The first is an easel card - I don't know about you, but I love easel cards, they always look fabulous and are so much easier to make than we think - as the ladies are about to find out!

I have used Teresa Collins DP and an image from Basic Grey
, the crown goes perfectly with the DP.  I have used the Spellbinders Grand Calibur to cut out the Labels 16 Nestibilitie, and added the Cuttlebug Vintage Corners.

I went for a totally different look for the second card.  I have used some gorgeous DP and the Stamp from Kaiser.

The bird has been cut out and coloured with Prismacolor Pencils and popped up onto a Classic Oval Nestibilitie that has been embossed with the 'Nat' Embossing Folder from Provocraft.

I have added some flowers and the wonderful braid of leaves, along with some bling from Kaiser and some faux stitching to finish off.

There is still room in the Class for YOU - if you can make it in time! LOL!

These cards are for the following challenges:
Craft Your Passion - Pink - card 1
Karen's Doodles - Animal Friends - card 2
Happily Scrappin - Inspiration Photo - card 1
Aly's Sunday Challenge - Bling Bling - both cards

Gunns'n Roses

How do you like this image - isn't it divine!  I received it in a RAK from my very dear Midnight Madness Design Team Member and friend, Gunn - it has been sitting on my desk for ages waiting for some colour to hit it!!

I saw this image used on one of Gunn's cards and fell in love with it, so it was a extra blessing when I saw it was included amongst the other items in the RAK!!  Thank you Gunn - I hope I did it justice!!

I played with the idea of cutting the rose and popping it up but decided to colour it and try to add dimension that way - I used SU Chalks and a Blender Pen - I love the depth that you can achieve with this method.  The collage background has had light touches of chalks added!

The DP is from the box of offcuts and is DCWV La Creme - it is a favourite of mine, although I don't seem to get to it enough - I added a tag from one of my new Spellbinders Fancy Labels - I LOVE this set!!  Some braid was threaded through and the finishing touches of those gorgeous copper Kaiser half pearls - how can you go wrong.  !?!?

This card is for the following Challenges:
Some Odd Girl - Girlie
Creative Belli Challenge - 'R' Embellishments
My Time to Craft - Vintage
Crafty Little Place - Anything Goes
Scrap Creations - Anything Goes

Thank you for stopping by and visiting with me today, I love knowing you have been and appreciate you lovely comments!  I will be back later today with a special post - it is a busy week on my Blog this week and I would love to see you here again!!  God bless you!

SSIC LOC Resting Place

It was wonderful to see so many players join in at Stampin' Sisters in Christ last week!  Your cards are amazing and give me no end of inspiration!!  This week our lovely Design Team Sister Miesje has given us the scripture:

"Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28

Miesje has challenged us to make a card that symbolizes what brings you rest or peace. It could be flowers, an ocean, music, mountains, sitting with a friend, or just reading a book....oh there are so many possibilities!!  For me, there is nothing more than the sound of birds outside the window to make me feel peaceful!  I have always been in a household that loved birds....as children we had an aviary filled with budgies and canaries - the air was always full of their beautiful songs and now my own family is surrounded by birds...whether it be budgies/parakeets, chickens, cockatiels and wild birds - I am so grateful that God made them for our pleasure - they sure make my day!!

It goes without saying that I would use the Layers of Color Backyard Birds Clear Art Stamps.  These imaged are a dream to work with and are so life like!  I love this little sparrow - he fitted so well with this verse

I nestled him in with this adorable flower that has been handmade by one of my dear friends and sistah's Sabrina (aka okimom2girlz).  I arrived home from being away at my DH;s Grandmother's funeral to find a surprise parcel waiting for me - from Sabrina.  It was like Christmas and everything in it is special, including some of these handmade flowers by Sabrina, including the Diecut Leaves and some scripture stamps.....and many more things you will see  here over the next weeks!  Thank you Sabrina - you are so very generous and know how to spoil someone!!  I {{{heart}}} you my friend!

I used the images from the Layers of Color Touch of Elegance Clear Stamp set for corner and added a small Kaiser pearl.  Paper piercing finished off my eclectic framing of this comforting scripture!!

I am linking this to the following challenges:
Crafty Cardmakers - Inky Fingers
One Stop Craft Challenge - Monochromatic
Sweet Stampin Challenge - Things with Wings

Make sure you pop over and see the other DT's creations, you know there is plenty of inspiration from these talented girls
