Little Birdie Crafts Birthday Blossoms

Hello friends, thanks so much for dropping in.  Creating your own background for a card is right on trend and so much fun.  There is no limit to the possibilities - giving us unique works of art - you have to love that!  I have used one of the Little Birdie Crafts newly released single stamps - these gorgeous blossoms work for this technique perfectly.

I have started by cut/emboss the largest die from the Spellbinders Nestabilities Fancy Edged Rectangles Etched Dies using white card stock and the Platinum Die Cutting Machine to create the card front. Before removing the die cut from the die I have stamped the background using the Little Birdie Crafts  Flowery Wishes clear stamp using Imagine Memento ink in Pistachio.  I placed the stamp on an acrylic block and repeated the stamping evenly over the card front while still in the die.  Sponge around the inside edges also using Pistachio Ink.  Remove the stamped card front and you will see how using this technique to stamp created a white border and gives the illusion of another image - so easy and so effective.  The card front has been popped up onto a slightly larger pre-cut pink card front using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L 3D Foam Squares. 

Next I have cut/embossed the second smallest die from the Nestabilities Fancy Scallop Edge Circles Etched Dies using green card stock.  Thick pink Ric Rac has been glued across the lower portion of the card front and the Green Circle popped up above it using Scrapbook Adhesives BY 3L 3D Foam Squares.

The image has been stamped using Imagine Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black and coloured using pre-inked Sponge Daubers - I love colouring this way - my Daubers are always fully loaded LOL!  The image has been fussy cut/hand cut using scissors and popped up onto the top portion of the Fancy Scalloped Edge Circle also using Scrapbook Adhesives BY 3L 3D Foam Squares.  The sentiment has also been stamped in Black Ink, trimmed and popped up below the flowers using 3D Foam Squares.

A pink double seam binding bow has been glued to the left side of the Ric Rac and a large brad added to the knot.

Art Journal - You Really Measure Up

Hello friends, thanks so much for stopping by.  Today I am sharing another page from my Art Journal - as I have said before, we are all on a journey, whether it is art, faith, health or something else. I was inspired to journal when I created the Mixed Media project using some of the Spellbinders Seth Apter Collection - you can see the post HERE.

This page is very simple, not a lot of layers, which I usually love, but lots of added details.  The background has been stamped using a gorgeous butterfly background stamp by Penny Black Inc. using Imagine Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black.  

It has then been coloured using the Crayon Resist Technique where I have coloured parts of the butterfly using White Crayon and then sponged over the stamped background using coloured inks. Take a paper towel and buff the image to remove any ink off the white crayon.  I have randomly stamped postmarks and words using Imagine Memento Ink in Bamboo Leaves and Rhubarb Stalk.

A few stamped ink splotches using Imagine Memento Ink in Teal Zeal and a few little 'additions' from my stash.  The sentiment is an older one from Crafty Secrets and has been trimmed, sponged around the edges with brown ink and adhered above the beautiful ribbon of large red roses - also from my stash - I believe it is from a RAK ( Random Act of Kindness).

Lastly I have cut red card stock using Spellbinders Shapeabilities Die DLites Hearts Etched Dies and the Platinum Die Cutting Machine and adhered to the journal page using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L E-Z Adhesive Runner Ultra.  I just love this journal created using recycled cardboard - I have great plans for it .... hope you join me and help me 'spread my wings' in this journey!!

Friends Forever

Hello friends, thanks so much for stopping by - I always love to know you have visited. I have a very shabby card to share with you today using dies from Spellbinders Amazing Paper Grace range by Becca Feeken. It really is a very easy card to create as you will see.

I started with a pink card base measuring 12cm x 10cm. I have cut/embossed the Pocket Frame and Insert from the Shapeabilities Amazing Paper Grace Flourish Frame Pocket Etched Dies using Authentique Paper and the  Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine - 6" Platform and adhered it to the card front, adhering the tabs to the back of the card front with strong tape to form a pocket for a gift card, or cash....or a lovely note.

I have cut a postcard to fit into the pocket using co-ordinating patterned papers. The beautiful flower from Anna Griffin Inc. is popped up in the centre of the postcard and a sentiment popped up over the lower portion of the flower both using Scrapbook Adhesives BY 3L 3D Foam Squares.

Pink Seam Binding is adhered around the pocket on the front of the card, an Anna Griffin Inc. sentiment embellishment is popped up in the centre of the postcard also using Scrapbook Adhesives BY 3L 3D Foam Squares.  A double pink Seam Binding Bow has been glued to the left side of the sentiment  and a handmade paper clay butterfly glued onto the knot of the bow.  Finishing off with a small blue button adhered to the right side of the sentiment with a Want2Scrap 250 Count - White Pearl in the centre and three small white pearls along side.

Pretty Sweet Friend

Hello friends, thanks so much for stopping by.  Today I am sharing a card created Spellbinders Border Dies as a feature - they are so pretty and add such an eye catching addition to any project.

The card front is in three layers - the bottom layer has been cut using patterned paper, the second layer has been cut/embossed using the A2 Scalloped Borders Three Card Creator Etched Dies, light pink card stock and the Platinum Die Cutting Machine. The third layer has had images from the Rose Heart stamp set stamped across white card stock, along with a sentiment - I believe these are digital but I cannot for the life of me remember where they are from - probably Flourishes, lc but....  Next the lower portion has been cut/embossed using the A2 Scalloped Borders Three Card Creator Etched Dies.

NOTE: all layers are the same width but are slowly decreasing is size by approx 2.5 cm.

Each layer is popped up onto a slightly larger pre-cut white card base using Scrapbook Adhesives BY 3L Crafty Foam Tape.  The white layer has narrow yellow ribbon added below the images and Want2Scrap 250 Count - White Pearls adhered across the ribbon and each corner of the card front.

Spellbinders Sweetheart Swirl Tutorial

Hello friends, thanks so much for stopping by.  I have a tutorial  for Spellbinders on my Blog today, using one of the new Romancing the Swirl Collection by Licensed Designer Becca Feeken.  I have combined two Dies from this Collection - totally different shapes but they work so well together.

'Romancing the Swirl Collection by Becca Feeken is full of curl and swirl motifs that connect them to elements worthy of decoration and card making. This collection is a welcome addition to and matches well with her other collections in the Amazing Paper Grace line'. - Spellbinders

You can find all of Becca's Dies HERE.

1. Cut/emboss two Sweetheart Swirls using the frame outline only and cream card stock.

2. Score one die cut at 2cm and fold forward.  Add a strip of double sided tape to the folded forward section.  Adhere the second Die cut to the first, making sure to live up the patterned sides, to form the card base.

3.Adhere cream card stock to a foam sheet using double sided tape on the front and an Adhesive Sheet on the back of the foam sheet.

4.Cut/emboss one Sweetheart Swirls using the frame outline and the frame pattern using the gold card stock. Use the Tool N One to remove all of the extra pieces from the Die cut.

5. Remove the backing from the filigree die cut and adhere to the card base.

6.Cut/emboss one oval from the Sweetheart Swirls using cream card stock and pop up onto the centre of the gold card front using 3D Foam Squares.

7.Cut/emboss the large Die from the Trefoil Crest Etched Dies, remove the centre/negative die and adhere across the centre of the layered card front using D Foam Squares.

8. Cut/emboss the smallest die from the Sweetheart Swirl Etched Dies using pink card stockand adhere to the right side of the gold Trefoil Crest Etched Dies.

9. Adhere the sentiment from the Anna Griffin Embellishments across the small Sweetheart Swirl.

So Sweet

Hello friend, thanks for stopping by.  It is Sunday night for me- the weekend seems to go by so fast - but I did manage to get in a little bit of creating...using bits and pieces left over from various Workshops to create this card with a nostalgic feel.

The image is from Tim Holtz - The Girls cling stamp set - it is a favourite with me - looks very similar to me when I was a toddler - in the days when my Mum cut my hair and my fringe was never straight - LOL - just as well Mum doesn't read this! Wink:wink!  I have stamped the image in Imagine Memento Ink in Espresso Truffle .  She has been framed using the circle from the Spellbinders Shapeabilities Laced with Love Blooming Collection Etched Dies and the Platinum Die Cutting Machine.

This has been layered onto a card front that has been but/embossed using an older Spellbinders Die cut, glued onto a pre-cut pink card base.  The flower has been cut/embossed using Shapeabilities Heart & Home Flower Play Etched Dies and a Want2Scrap large pearl brad added to the centre. This has been layered onto the Shapeabilities Inspire Bird Banner Etched Dies and popped up onto the card base using Scrapbook Adhesives BY 3L 3D Foam Squares.

Three buttons have been adhered to the right side of the framed image, a medium Want2Scrap white pearl has been adhered to the centre and Kindy Glitz/liquid glitter has been added.

A handmade paper clay butterfly has been adhered to the top left of the frame and a white pearl adhered to the centre of the body, along with some shimmer.  The sentiment has been cut/embossed using the Spellbinders Shapeabilities Simply Said Phrase Set One Etched Dies and brown cardstock, then glued above the frame.
