Happy First Birthday

Hello friends, welcome and thanks so much for stopping by.  It is Monday here - it come around all too quickly don't you think?!  Today I have a 'Fancy Fold' card to share with you a 'Pop and Twist' card- so much easier to create than you first think and such a fun fold. I have made a fun and whimsical card using Kaisercraft papers and Collectibles for a friend of the family and my DD1's BFF - she wanted something special to mark his first birthday - and he just loved cars.

Cut a card base and score half way; fold the card stock into an A-frame card base. Decorate the card front as desired, it is so much easier to do before the inside is added, adding bulk.

I have used patterned paper from Kaisercraft adhering to the pre-cut white card base using Scrapbook Adhesives BY 3L E-Z Adhesive Runner Ultra. The sentiment has been cut/embossed using a Spellbinders Alphabet and adhered using liquid glue. The banner is also from Spellbinders, the die has been used as a stencil and the inside of the die sponged using Imagine Memento Ink in Teal Zeal and a sponge dauber.  The age has been cut/embossed using Shapeabilities Filigree Numbers Etched Dies Elegant 3D Vignettes by Becca Feeken and corrugated card stock. The scalloped border is also from Kaisercraft and has been adhered to the base of the patterned paper using Scrapbook Adhesives BY 3L E-Z Adhesive Runner Ultra.

A Belly Band has been created using a strip of teal card stock 5cm wide.  Make sure it goes around the middle of the whole card with 2cm extra to allow for adhering.  Add a slightly smaller strip of patterned paper to the centre of the Belly Band using double sided tape - use strong tape to secure the Belly Band together.  Cut/emboss a Spellbinders Nestabilities Fancy Edged Circles Etched Dies using the 4th smallest die and yellow card stock.  Adhere the Lion embellishment to the circle, adhere the layered lion to the Belly Band.

Cut card stock for the pop-up mechanism, 8cm x 24cm.  Score down the centre of the card both lengthwise and width (or the long side and the short side)   Fold the right hand side towards the centre to where the score lines meet, check they line up on both sides before burnishing,.  Repeat this with the left hand side - to give an 'x in the centre.  Fold the paper on the score lines to make a tent shape Burnish all folds. This piece becomes the pop-up mechanism for the card.  Place the point of the mechanism centred just below the fold on the card base, Place tape on the top of the mechanism  Close the card to adhere the top panel to the pop-up mechanism.

Cut another piece of  white card stock 8cm x 24cm. Score on the short side at 4cm and burnish. Fold each side towards the centre fold and burnish the folds.  Decorate each panel inside the card by cutting two pieces of  Kaisercraft patterned paper to 9cm x 9.5cm, adhering onto the top and bottom panels.

Open the card. The pop-up mechanism will unfold. Place Scrapbook Adhesives BY 3L E-Z Adhesive Runner Ultra on the top right corner and the bottom left corner back of the "tent" pop-up mechanism and center the accordion fold piece over the pop-up mechanism and attach.

Cut four Kaisercraft patterned paper to 5.5cm x 8.5cm and attach to each panel of the accordion portion using Scrapbook Adhesives BY 3L E-Z Adhesive Runner Ultra. Decorate the panels using Spellbinders Die D-Lites Little Guy Etched Dies including the clouds.  Add Rickrack, Die cut Balloons and a rainbow to the top panel of the card, and embellish both edges of the bottom panel.
