MMSC58 Melting Moment

What a week it has been - while most of you are enjoying the warmer weather, we have been having temperature that are REVOLTING AT Night - around the minus 4-5 degrees Celsius - brrrrrr!!  Great weather for staying home and.....yes...you guessed it...creating!!!  Perfect opportunity to create my Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge card for this week!

I have used an adorable Gurlee Girl image - how adorable are they,  Gurlee Girls was the first one of our sponsors that I used an image from when I first started at MMSC - I have been looking forward to using another one - this Gurlee Girl is perfect with her hot Cocoa!

I coloured her with SU Chalks and a Blender Pen, then cut her out and popped her up with foam dots into some card stock embossed with the Divine Swirls embossing folder - it made me think of swirls of steam from the hot Cocoa!

I enjoyed this sketch but had to do some thinking about the panel at the top - I decided on this white lace and threaded a thing strip of one of the DP's through it, so the colours matched exact, then a small black brad was added in the centre of each lacy flower.

LOC Dressing Up

I came across this amazing Blog and found the cutest challenge and could not resist playing along !  Margaret from Alice & Camilla has invited us to play along with her

'Dress Up'  challenge!  Anyone can play and she is aiming to complete a dress by the end of each month. How adorable is that - it appeals to the 'little girl' in all of us!! 

I used this template from Gini Owen and of course had to use the Layers of Color art stamp set - Merci Bouquet, the small flowers are perfect for this darling dress!  They have been coloured lightly with SU Chalks and had Kindy Glitz added to the centers.

For the bodice I used some leftover embossed CS, using Divine Swirls embossing folder!  I have sponged around the edges (LIGHTLY) of  the whole dress, it helped define the lines,  I also used some spotted chiffon ribbon as a belt and knotted it through a pearl buckle/slider

How cute is this - it is perfect for my DD2's birthday next month - she is my 'girly girl' and saw it on my desk this morning and cried out with delight 'Awww Mum - this is adorable!!'  She is my greatest encouragement, God bless her!!  I will be back tomorrow with another one to show you, it is very vintage - I am having fun with these!! LOL!

LOC One Heart

Hi everyone - it is Friday here already - the week has just flown by! I wanted to take a minute to thank those of you who sent birthday wishes my my DH, he appreciated each and everyone of them and had a great day - he asked me to pass on his thanks!!

This card is made with my favourite stamp companies, Layers of Color, I have used their Fleur Heart art stamp set - isn't it just gorgeous!!  I have kept the card fairly simple as I felt too ,much more would make it cluttered - what do you think!?!?

I have made it for a couple of challenges, the first being the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge where we are to be inspired by this scripture:

Mark 10: 7-9 "7. 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, 8. and the two will become one flesh.' So they are no longer two, but one. 9. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate." (NASB)

We have been challenged by Randi to create a card/project/layout that reflects the sentiment of this scripture by following this formula: Use whatever supplies/stamps you like to create whatever kind of card or project that you like BUT use must use TWO kinds of each item to make your ONE creation, for example. An example would be as follows: 2 different colors of cardstock, 2 different pieces of patterned paper, 2 pieces of ribbon, 2 brads.....

I have used two of everything, or used things in multiples of two - do you see the gold heart in the centre of the Fleur Heart?  The exception to this is the one black and gold button that I have used singularly, as a symbol of the two becoming one!

I have also made this for this weeks Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge where we are to use hearts...I have also used the fabulous scripture from ODBD, perfect for this occassion - who doesn't rejoice at LOVE!  Marriage is not only a commitment before God, where we exchange vows,  but also a time of celebration at this blessed union.....at our wedding my DH was playing drums with the band towards the end of the reception and our Wedding reception became one big CELEBRATION and time of rejoicing - infact we had such a great time, we were amongst the last to leave!! LOL!

With the Blog Hop theme being Friends, the scripture that came to mind for me this one - what better friend can we have than Jesus!!! 

I am excited to be using one of the Layers of Color New Release sets Butterfly Collector and Flutterescent along with the Gothic Crosses set, which is a favourite of mine!!   The scripture is computer generated .

The butterfly is symbolic of New Life and we find that at the cross...and the heart added to the centre of the cross represents God's heart of love for us all!  I love symbolism and this one is particularly meaningful for me - without it we would be lost - literally!!

This week is my first week using the gorgeous Gurlee Girl Stamps by Chelsea - how cute are they, it just makes me want to SQUEEZE these girls, they remind me so much of my girls when they were little!!  I chose 'Lexi' and coloured her with chalks, cutting her out and popping her up on 3D foam dots onto an embossed panel, which has been sponged with Tim Holtz Distressing Ink.

My second layer is a paint chip from the local hardware - don't you just love recycling!!  I have distressed the edges of this.  My DP is from a fabulous DCWV Pad....all fun, funky and bright!!  It actually has heaps of shimmer but this is always lost when photographed!  The angled photo shows it a bit better!

I thought you might like to see all of the dimension going on here - hence the close up!  I have sponged around the DP and adhered it to white CS, which in turn has been layered onto pink CS!  I have used sponged embossed photo corners as embellishments and added nail bling to them.

 Butterflies have been sponged and added, again Nail Bling is used.  The larger butterfly has some gold chalked onto it for some variation in colour - my DH suggested it and I nearly reeled in horror, but he has a great eye for colours so I tried it - and it looks great - adds so much warmth!!  Amazing what such a little touch can add!

Flowers have been sponged and layered, with a silver centre added, finishing off the card nicely!!  So what do you think - aren't these Gurlee Girls gorgeous - I can't wait to get another one done!!

Dwelling Place

I have been strolling through blogs looking at what is around and was thrilled to find this new challenge called Crazy 4 Challenges.....it is a must...wait until you see who are on the Design Team - it can't help but be a success. I have had this post ready for a few days and realised I had better post it today...or I might be too late!

They are starting with a Sketch Challenge and I love it. I have made a card with a raised circle or the such like....and really like the look of it! I have used the Layers of Colors set Garden Borders, it added just the right touch for this simple yet pretty card.



The sentiment and scalloped circle was very kindly sent to me by my friend Kathy (aka Wattle on SCS) Thanks Kathy, I love the scripture stamps and amazingly, I have none -so I do appreciate your generous gesture! The Garden Borders was coloured with SU Chalks/Pastels and has Kindy Glitz lightly added, I am always careful not to swamp the images with simmer. but just enough to highlight and add some interest! The other thing of interest is the gold paper - recycled from inside a chocolate box....you know I love to recycle and this was a find - of course the family were more than keen to assist me getting material for this card! LOL! It embossed so well and holds the texture beautifully....must buy some more of that brand...if only I could remember what ones they were - they were gone pretty quickly!!

Casting all Your Care

As you would have noticed I get a lot of cards made, part of this being that I sell a lot of them, which helps 'feed my habit' and I have a fairly constant supply going out, so I need to keep up with that. The other reason being that I got sick towards the end of last year and was told that I had to relax and literally threw myself into cardmaking...it became therapy for me and still is today - I tell my DH that I save him heaps of money by cardmaking as therapy is around $150 per hour!!! LOL!!! I don't like to be making the same thing over again so I am always looking for new ideas and inspiration and was happy to come across 2RedBananas....this weeks challenge is a.Sketch Challenge, you should check it out!!

I have a friend who orders scripture cards, she is one of my regular customers, buying at least 200 cards in the past year...I try and give her as many different ones as possible - not that it matters to her, but it does to me....I am not a great fan of repetition - especially when she orders 20 at one time!! This scripture is a favourite of mine, it is such a comfort...but as we know, it can be the hardest thing to do...how often do we take it all onboard and try to solve everything in our own strength and end up making things so-o-o much worse!! I have to laugh when I hear it said that Christians don't worry - yeah right - we just get 'concerned' - it is the Christian word for worry!! LOL!! Don't you just love 'Christian-ese!!!'

Setting Sail

This is another card I have made for the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge which has just started this week...you can find it here...check it out, they have an amazing BLOG Candy for the opening challenge.

I have used a retired set that I was generously given by my SU and Friend Ann....the only payment she required was a card made with it...so here is it. Actually I have made two the same as it is my younger brother's birthday in July and he has a yacht, infact lives on it with his dog, Dennis, who is amazingly similar to Scooby Doo...they are a funny pair together - add living on a yacht into that equation and the stress and laughs never stop. When I flew across to NZ on a mercy dash when my beautiful Nana was passing away, my brother met me at the airport at midnight and as we got to his car he warned me about the beast within....I was nearly slobbered to 'death' by this HUGE dog! The next day we were rushing in to be at Nana's side David informed me we could be there in 7 minutes if we took the boat....my Mum informed me that he had to slam it into the rocks to stop it the day before....and the ocean was pretty rough - I politely declined the offer and heard my brother saying, rather indignantly, ' you wuss!!' Maybe so...but I wasn't taking the risk - I didn't have on waterprrof mascara!!! LOL!! Anyway, my brother will love this card!

I chalked the image and sponged around the edges, layering it onto embossed CS. The corners are torn embossed CS, I set eyelets and tied some twine/jute through them and lastly added an embossed sentiment....see how good I am, I even added some 'sea spray' around the sentiment....okay...that is from the embossing powder...I even used an embossing powder, I am not sure why it went like that....if you know..please PM me...but for the purpose of this card we will call it 'sea spray' as it is also for the Limited Supply Challenge which is all about seaside...so my 'artistic licence' is fully in play!! LOL!!
