Shamelessly Shabby with an Edge

It is a privilege being an International Ambassador for Spellbinders - this is my fifth year designing for them and I have to say - you can never have too many Dies!! LOL!  This month Spellbinders are showcasing Seth Apter and Stacey Caron - I just have to share a Workshop I am teaching at the Australian Mixed Media Roadshow - using Seth's (aka The Altered Page) Dies.

Seth is amazing on so many levels, I was a bit nervous using his Dies in my style - but the cards came together so easily - infact I adore these Dies and will be using them regularly.  I had asked Seth if it was okay to use his Dies at one of my Workshops, as he is teaching at the Roadshow as well - when he said it was fine, I don't think he was ready to see these 'Shamelessly Shabby with an Edge" cards - as they are so different from Seth's unique style that you can see here. You can see full photos of the cards HERE.

If you are interested in booking one of my Workshops (there are 4) at the Australian Mixed Media Road Show - click on this link and you can see what they are all about.

Thank you for your comments and all of the support you give me - you make blogging such an amazing place to be!! Your encouragement is such a blessing for me - it makes my day! God bless you!

Card stock: White card, Kraft card
Seam Binding, 3D Kindy Glitz, Scissors; Chalks/ Pastels

Step 1:  Cut white card 30cm x 11cm, score in the center to form a card base of 15x11cm
Step 2: Cut Kraft card 14.5 x 10.5cm.  Adhere to the White card base using E-Z Runner.
Step 3: Cut Authentique Papers to approx 14x10cm and emboss using the Dotted Flowers M-Bossabilities folder.  Adhere to the Kraft layer.
Step 4: Cut one (1) Gold Majesty Circles in white card, one (1) Lacey Circles in Authentique Paper and one  Fancy Tags Three in white card.
Step 5: Layer the Dies using foam squares with the Gold Majestic Circles on the bottom, then Lacey Circles and Fancy Tags Two - centering each die.

Step 6: Adhere the layered Dies to the top of the Card base using E-Z Runner.
Step 7: Stamp two (2) Butterflies using with VersaFine™ in Vintage Sepia, sponge around the edges with the ink, using a dauber and Vintage Sepia.
Step 8: Colour the butterflies wings using Chalks/pastels, layer the wings, gluing in the center, add 3D Kindy Glitz to the top layer of wings, in strokes rather than colouring the whole wing for a more subtle look.

Step 9: Adhere to the center of the layered Dies, as per the photos below.
Step 10: Add 3 small pearls to the body of the butterfly and along the top of the Gold Majestic Circles.

Step11: Add Seam Binding around the lower portion, across the bottom of the Majestic Gold Circles, securing around the back of each side with E-Z Runner
Step 12: Adhere a double bow using liquid glue.

Wet! Wet! Wet!

I have another Tag to show you - my Next Workshop is Tags! Tags! Tags! we will be making 6 Tags - all different - a little bit vintage a touch of grunge and definitely some whimsy....

One of the ladies I have come to know through my Classes at my local LSS and Workshops, Anne has these wonderful Tim Holtz Embossing Folders - and graciously lent them to me and I am making the most of them.....can you blame me!?

I love this Umbrella Man - so very Charlie Chaplin-ish and who doesn't love him!

I love the way the technique we are using on this tag has worked out with the colours - it is the perfect background for the CTMH sentiment - they just seemed to go hand on hand for this tag!  The end result is simple but that is part of the appeal of it for me - amazing I know when you consider I am all about layering and details!  LOL!

LOC Bee-utifully Blueberry

I am having so much fun teaching at Layers of Color Workshops - tomorrow I am having a rerun of the Slice of Heaven Workshop as the demand has been amazing!!  I decided it was time I finished a Slice I started in....shhhh....January....LOL!

The sides are 'iced' with the Botanical Swirls art stencil, topped off with some cream Seam Binding and some divine buttons my DH came home with the other day - you have to love that!!

Inked embossing with the SU Vintage Wallpaper makes rich and irresistible icing

What flowers are complete without a gorgeous Bee buzzing around - these ones are from the Layers of Color Honeysweet art stamp set - I am loving this set more and more....

Vintage Braid and a pearl close the back beautifully - the braid adds such an opulence, making this Cake Slice so-o-o tempting to nibble at!

Finishing off with a butterfly from the Butterfly Collector art stamp set - layered, with 3D Kindy Glitz added as a final touch.

I have added this slice to the other two and am inspired to create more - my goal is to have a whole cake - a smorgasbord of colour and details, texture, shimmer and rich beauty - all this with paper and embellishments - no wonder it is so addictive!  I am sure the ladies at tomorrow's Workshop will love them as much as I do!!

Who Said Stampin' is Boring!!

Today I hosted a SU Workshop run by my friend Ann - she is an incredible teacher and I never come away from time with Ann without learning something and being inspired!

Today we had a lot of fun - I am not sure if there is more laughter or stamping at these events - you can see the photos further down the post to see what we got up to today....

Our Make and Take was created using the SU Nature Walk set - my DH got me this set for Mother's Day and it was great to use it for the first time (shhhh!)  Don't you love collage - Ann is so good at it, I have admired her cards and loved creating this one!!

We stamped, sponged, coloured and spritzed - and this is the end result - what do you think!?!

Ann also showed us more uses for our Chalks/Pastels - something I use everyday - I love them used with Versamark

and created some handmade flowers - you will see those on some projects in the future....

On the lighter side of things we took a break for some 'planking'......

that was inspired by these photos of my Mum

What a gal - I learnt everything I know from her! LOL!  This woman raised 4 children and 14 Foster children - never a dull moment I can tell you!  Thanks Mum for the laugh today - this was the last thing I expected when I opened an email - it made me laugh out loud - YOU ROCK MUM! LOL!

We finished off a fun time with sweet Pavlova and coffee - and lots of fabulous company - a recipe for a perfect day!

I would like to thanks the wonderful ladies who came today, you all helped me get a new set of Chalks/Pastels - and I am very grateful - not to mention the Embossing Folders and Stamps that I am adding to my collection because of SU's amazing deal and my wonderful friends!!

This card is for the following challenges:
Bloggers Challenge - Things with Wings - bird, bees
Poodles Parlour - Come Fly with Me
Sew Many Cards - Dry Embossing
Stampin' For the Weekend - My Favourite Things - vintage, sponging, embossing
Scrapbook Sisters - Anything Goes
Everybody Art Challenge - Anything Goes

Thank you for visiting with me today - I love to see that you have been - you always make my day!!  It is Saturday night here and I am chilling out - literally, as it is very cold here at nights - and preparing for Sunday.....I think it will be an early night tonight - well, that is my intention anyway!!  LOL!  God bless you!
