Art Journal - What if I fall

Hello friends, thanks so much for stopping by.  Today I am sharing another page from my Art Journal - as I have mentioned with each page - we are all on a journey, whether it is art, faith, health or something else.

This page has been created using recycled cardboard.  It is very simple, starting with patterned paper adhered to the page using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L E-Z Adhesive Runner.  Lots of layers have been added but it is still not bulky - one of the reasons I love Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L 3D Foam Squares, including white paint and teal ink.  The inking around the edges and background stamping has been done using Imagine Inks. The image has been fussy cut/hand cut out using scissors and also adhered using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L E-Z Adhesive Runner.

Tulle has been adhered to the wings and a Little Birdie Crafts flower glued to the centre.  Finishing off with Washi Tape and patterned twine.

I just love this journal created using recycled cardboard - I have great plans for it .... hope you join me and help me 'spread my wings' in this journey!

Art Journal - Not All Who Wander are Lost

Hello friends - welcome and thank you for stopping by! I have been working on another Art Journal, although my signature is shabby/vintage - I decided to create something a little more grunge/urban and am sharing a page in my upcycled journal. I have worked 'within the lines' for so long that 'colouring outside the lines' does not come easy but I do think it is getting easier with each page - moving forward slowly!

As I have mentioned before - I am very blessed to have been inspired by so many wonderful artists - my journey with the Australian Mixed Media Roadshow has certainly opened by eyes to life beyond paper - while at the same time showed me that I can work with paper and still create Mixed Media projects - there really are no set rules...- it is a matter of shaking off those things which limit us and open up our minds

My husband - my biggest supporter - says I am transitioning - and have been for some time; whatever that may mean - as long as it does not involve hormones I am okay with it.  Wink:wink!  Then there are the wonderful artists on the Roadshow who encourage me LOUDLY to 'come over to the DARK SIDE!' LOL not naming names Michael DeMeng!!  Then there are the words of encouragement from John Creighton Peterson - 'look at you girl - getting in touch with your dark side!' LOL!  That makes me laugh.  Of course the Seth Apter was quietly working away inspiring me and giving me a nudge here and there...LOL!  I am grateful to these guys and the amazing ladies who are part of my journey - taking me out of my comfort zone and to new places artistically!

Seth - well he was just encouraging every time we chatted about art - and I have to say I am greatly inspired by Seth's stamps, dies and stencils - I seem to use them a lot when it come to my take on Mixed Media....Seth actually was a key person in helping me define the whole Crafter/Artist thing...if you know what I mean - along with Linda Molden Peterson - who is amazing and I had the honour of meeting in Phoenix on a Spellbinders Retreat....anyway enough about that...

So here you have it - I have been inspired by one of my favourite sayings and a photograph taken by my husband.  The background is from a recycled box and I hve added some inking.  A very easy page but I felt it was a case of 'less is more' - the good things is I can always add more if I feel inspired in the future.

Art Journal - Be Different

Hello friends, thanks so much for stopping by.  Today I am sharing another page from my Art Journal - as I have mentioned with each new page - we are all on a journey, whether it is art, faith, health or something else. I was inspired to journal when I created the Mixed Media project using some of the Spellbinders Seth Apter Collection - you can see the post HERE.

This page is very simple, starting with patterned paper adhered to the page using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L E-Z Adhesive Runner.  Lots of layers have been added but it is still not bulky - one of the reasons I love Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L 3D Foam Squares.  The inspiration for this page was inspired by the stamped Flourishes.lc elephant - which is adorable you have to admit!

A recycled tag has been covered using left over pieces of patterned paper, it has been and sponged around the edges using Imagine Memento Ink in Espresso Truffle and a ticket added to the bottom of the tag.

The elephant has been stamped and fussy cut/hand cut using scissors and popped up onto the tag.  A few stamped ink splotches using Imagine Memento Ink in Wedding Dress and a few little 'additions' from my stash.  The sentiment is from some packaging.

The bird is has been stamped using  Imagine Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black and coloured using Chameleon Pens.  This has also been fussy cut/hand cut using scissors and popped up onto the Journal Page slightly overlapping onto the lower right end of the tag using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L 3D Foam Squares.

I just love this journal created using recycled cardboard - I have great plans for it .... hope you join me and help me 'spread my wings' in this journey!!

Art Journal - Be Original

Hello friends, thanks so much for stopping by.  I am sharing another page from my Art Journal - I don't seem to be able to find enough time to do as much of it as I would like, it is often the late hours of the night - or lets be honest - the early hours of the morning where I sit and 'play!' it is all part of the journey! Wink:wink! . Today's page has also used one of the Spellbinders Seth Apter Collection - you can see my journal pages HERE.  They feature greatly in my Journal as Seth is not only a very dear friend but also a major mentor and inspiration.

For my page base I have used some reasonably genetic patterned paper and added some layers using ink, paint and stamps - it is definitely a different genre from card making - but lots of fun and a road I am loving to travel on.

The adorably 'quirky' image is  from Rubbermoon by Sunny Carvalho - this girl just makes me smile - isn't she adorable?!  She has been coloured using Chameleon Pens and layered onto two layers of coloured card stock.  The sentiment above her has been computer generated.

The sentiment on the left has been stamped using Imagine Memento Inks in Tuxedo Black and trimmed into strips then adhered using double sided tape.  This has been added - a simple form of journaling - but I am working on that - I have never found it easy, even on my scrap booking - but I am evolving in this and it will happen - not today, but along the way.  If you have any hints - please feel free to leave a comment here!

I have used the added the Seth Apter Fragment X Etched Dies to the page adding some hand drawn lines around the edges in white to add a more personal touch. A few stamped ink splotches, texture paste, Wooden Embellishments, Cogs and a few little 'additions' from my stash.   I just love this journal created using recycled cardboard - I have great plans for it .... hope you join me and help me 'spread my wings' in this journey!!

You can see Seth Apter's Spellbinders Collection HERE - they are divine!!

A few stamped ink splotches, texture paste, Prima Wooden Embellishments, Washi Tape, Cogs and a aeroplane embellishment from Want2Scrap I have also added corrugated cardboard that has been sponged using white paint and Imagine Memento Ink in Teal Zeal and a few little 'additions' from my stash.   I just love this journal created using recycled cardboard - I have great plans for it .... hope you join me and help me 'spread my wings' in this journey!!

Spellbinders - Coffee with Seth

Hello friends thank you for stopping by today I'm excited to be sharing a card with you using one of Spellbinders new dies by Licensed Designer Seth Apter. If you know me you know I love my coffee and what is better than a coffee with Seth.

The Shapeabilities Ring String Etched Dies by Seth Apter has been cut and embossed using textured paper from my stash.  Lightly sand the Ring String using a Sanding Block.  Next it has been adhered to corrugated card that has been lightly sponged using Imagine Memento ink in Teal Zeal.

Note: If you do not have textured paper, embossed paper would look great too.

Lots of fabulous layers and texture but still not too bulky for posting - something I try to be conscious of.   The layered rings have been adhered to a pre-cut card front that has been stamped using the coffee beans from the Flourishes,lc My Cup Overflows stamp set and Imagine Memento Ink in Espresso Truffle. The coffee up and sentiment are also from the Flourishes,lc stamp set - the cup has been coloured using Chameleon Pens.  I am thinking the sentiment would suit many occasions from thinking of you...to Happy Birthday - wanna meet for coffee?!  What do you think?
