LOC Fruit of the Spirit Blog Hop Winner...and more!

Hello everyone - it is time for another post for the Layers of Color Fruit of the Spirit Blog Hop and yes....I will be announcing the winner of the Fruitful Harvest art stamp set

Layers of Color is celebrating sponsoring 2SketchesYou. 

The Design Team have shown you their cards created using the Fruitful Harvest art stamp set along with the Botanical Swirls art stencil and Belle Brocade art stencil - you can have the opportunity to won these by playing along with the 2Sketches4You challenge!  During this week we will be showing you different cards created  with the theme 'the Fruit of the Spirit'

I have stamped the Fruitful Harvest image with Distressing Inks and then used an Aqua Brush to drag some of the colour into the image and add highlights with Distressing Ink - it is the first time I have done this and I love the effect!

Belle Brocade art stencil has been sponged with Distressing Ink along the edge of the DP from DCWV 'Once Upon a Time" set - this art stencil is perfect for edging - I love the almost filigree look it has!

I added a gold button with a Kaiser Brad through it and the gorgeous fibre wool that has been out for effect!

The scripture that is the central theme for our Blog Hop is

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,

patience, kindness, goodness,

faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Against such things there is no law

Galatians 5:22

All of the Fruit of the Spirit are qualities we would love to have working in our lives - but which one do we need the most - well, the truth is we need them all - there is none that is better than the other!  Each fruit has it's own purpose and as we allow it to grow in our lives it brings a harvest of eternal value!!

MMSC79

Welcome to the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge - there has been so much inspiration coming from you all that we can't wait for the next week to come along and see what you do with Priscilla's amazing sketches!

My first card is created using one of the gorgeous butterflies from "priscillastyles" stores - I felt like making something different this week and this sketch just lent itself to the Sidestep card.  I also used the fabulous cardstock from our monthly sponsor The PaperTemptress - what fabulous product - I wish you could just reach in and feel the different textures - they are divine and make your cards feel luxurious!

The butterflies have been coloured with SU Chalks and had touches of Kindy Glitz added, I layered these on the steps as close as possible to the sketch - what do you think!?!  The gorgeous corrugated CS creates great light and shade- I do like this look - a lot!

You can probably get a better idea on this photo - the CS has been sponged and layered onto black cards, this really makes it pop.  A large pearl has been added to each butterfly and some along the bottom step.

A gorgeous flower from Wild Orchid has been added and a left over piece of embossing using some inked SU Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder - I love this folder!

My next card is using another of Priscilla's images - this is from the Christmas Tree set of 4, using the gorgeous papers from The Paper Temptress once again.  I used some of the same corrugated card along the edges - how could I resist - I love this stuff - you will be seeing more of it!  LOL!

I decided to try and use the sketch a bit differently and make my three squares part of the tree.  I printed two images and used my SU punch to punch the squares.

You can see it more clearly in the photo above.  The tree is coloured using Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and a small paint brush,  Bling has been added - in nearly every form (LOL)

A bow made with my Bow-Easy using some ribbon I got at Garage Sale/Yard Sale a number of years ago - it is HUGE and I will be using it for years!  

I nearly forgot my third card to show you - this one is made with one of Priscillas new Christmas images - don't you love it - her new images are gorgeous - you NEED to check them out!!

I have coloured the image with Prismacolor Pencils and craeted my own DP using Layers of Color Touch of Elegance art stamp set - the CS is all from The Paper Temptress and you all know I love that!!

I could not resist making an easel card - aren't they such a great style of card!

I coloured the Fruitful Harvest art stamps with Prismacolor Pencils and cut them out with a circle punch, layering it onto a larger circle.  These have been popped up with different height foam tape!  An adorable wheelbarrow embellishment had been added.

The Botanical Swirls art stencil works beautifully with many mediums - I have used 3 different Distressing Ink colors and sponged them on.

Belle Brocade art stencil adds such an elegant touch to the base of the card using the same Distressing Inks.

Our Designer Blog Hop theme is, "Fruit of the Spirit".

 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Mother Teresa said, 'A day lived without doing something good for others is a day not worth living.'  I read this today in the 'Word for Today' and thought how timely it is, especially with the theme of the Blog Hop.

This is such a HUGE subject that it is impossible to capture it in one post, or at all for that matter.  As I have read the scripture and thought about what to share I came to the conclusion that as a Christian we cannot live without the fruit of the Spirit - we cannot pick and choose the fruit we would like to have, but need to have them all to be effective in our walk and to be more Christ like.  It is these fruit and the evidence of them that sets us apart...

I could not agree more with the statement shared in the Word for Today quoting
William Barclay 'More people have been brought into the church by the kindness of real Christian love than by all the theological arguments in the world. And more people have been driven from the church by the hardness and ugliness of so-called Christians than by all the doubts in the world.'

I am challenged not to just look at the fruit and agree that yes, this is what we need, but to take the next step   - to not just have the knowledge of what we need and how we should be using it, but to let it become a reality in my life - to back up my beliefs - more and more each day - will I fail - more than likely BUT I WILL GET up and keep going - our walk is daily and His mercies are new every morning - for you and me!!

LOC SSIC Whatever the Weather

Welcome to Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge!  It was such a blessing to see so many of your playing along last week - and what fabulous creations in mainly white and cream - you are amazing!!

We are delighted to have our wonderful sister Randi bringing us this weeks challenge!  The scripture Randi has chosen is from Isaiah.

For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven,
And do not return there without watering the earth
And making it bear and sprout,

And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater;

So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth;

It will not return to Me empty,

Without accomplishing what I desire,

And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. 

  Is 55:10-11

Randi's challenge is to create a card/project that has some kind of weather displayed on it such as: rain, snow, ice, sunshine, wind. Anything that demonstrates weather.

I have used the Layers of Color Rise & Shine art stamp set and Distressing Inks

add a yummy flower that has been inked, a button and some delish Basic Grey DP and you get the perfect accompaniment for this tag, that slips quietly into the pocket created by the DP.

LOC More than Faith

I love Fridays, especially at Layers of Color as it is Faith Art Friday.  This is when we get to create for creating sake, to express our passion not just for paper, but also about our faith and who our faith is in!

My faith is in the Lord God Almighty who is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.

He has reigned from the very beginning and will reign and be glorified for eternity

 We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.  Rev 11:17

 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;

 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing.

 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb forever and ever.

 And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth forever and ever.  Rev 5:11-14

. Reading this scripture stirs my spirit and I pray it will impact yours too.  May the Spirit of God impart the message of this Loving Word to each of us!!!

LOC Crown and Glory

This post is overdue -  I have been meaning to show you another card for the past two days, but things get busy and you know how it goes from there!  LOL!  It is after midnight and I have not been back from a Scrapbooking class for very long - but that is a whole 'nother post.....

I have used one of Layers of Color New Release Bird Queen cling art stamp and the Acanthus Leaves art stamp. 

 It has been coloured with SU Chalks and a Blender Pen, then cut out and popped on this gorgeous spotted DP - I love the richness of the colours on this card!

With the colours being so regal - the coloured image was just screaming out for bling - and it had to be large stones

The scripture is a sticker and the pleated DP is an old hymnal that has been sponged and had two rows of paper piercing added!  The image from the Acanthus Leaves art stamp set has been stamped around the edges and  lightly coloured with the chalks - to give it come dimension.

MMSC78 My Cup of Tea/Bird Song

Where has the week gone - it is time for the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge once again - and we all love that don't we!  It is great to see so many of you playing along with us - your card are fabulous!!  What a week I have had but I will put that aside and show you what I have created using Priscilla's fabulous sketch!

My first card is using this gorgeous teacup from "priscillastyles" Stores - this is a fabulous image to colour - and all card stock is form your monthly Sponsor The Paper Temptress- and they are divine, I love the textures and the quality of the card stock - thank you Patricia for being so generous to the Design TeamT - I am going to have such fun this week!

  I used my SU Chalks and a Blender Pen - you know how I love those Chalks!!

I have popped the cup on foam tape -you can see the dimension above = it always makes a card 'pop!'

My next card is using the image from our Weekly Bonus Sponsor DRS designs - I fell in love with this darling little bird as soon as I saw it - it is the most adorable shape and that wins me every time!!

The image has been coloured with SU chalks and a Blender Pen

and popped up onto a Spellbinders Large Oval with foam dots

Crotchet lace is added around the oval, along with assorted flowers and Kaiser Chocolate Pearls.

The card stock is also from our monthly Sponsor, The Paper Temptress and has been embossed, I love the way the embossing is so deep on the gold - perfect!  DieCut corners have been added and come Distressed Stickles as a finishing touch.
