SSIC LOC The Lord Bless You

This weeks Stampin' Sisters in Christ is brought to us by the wonderful Traci Major.
This weeks Scripture is:

"Give thanks in all circumstances for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." ESV
1 Thessalonians 5:18

Traci has challenged us to create a card or project that depicts gratitude...it can be an image of something you are grateful for, a scripture that evokes your gratitude, or it can be a card made especially for a person you would like to thank this time of year!!

I have used am image from one of the Layers of Color New Release clear art stamp sets

This sentiment is one of my favourites - it is such a blessing to have it as a stamp - there are so many occasions I can think of to use it. It has been cut out using the Spellbinders Grand Calibur and the Labels Fourteen Nestibilitie and Labels Ten

The butterfly is from another Layers of Color New Release set, the Fairy Wishes clear art stamp set, it has been cut out and popped up on foam tape.

I love this scripture and am grateful for the blessing of God that He pours out so freely. So often we forget to express our gratitude, not intentionally, but just get caught up in life and all that comes with it in our lives...I often think about the ten lepers that were healed - I am sure they were all excited and so happy, but only one returned to say thank you Lord.....

I pray that each of us will be mindful of all He is and all He does for  us - forget NOT His benefits!

This card is for the following challenges:
2 Sisters - Anything Goes
Stamp, Scrap and Doodle - Thank you (Thanksgiving)
Challenge Up Your Life - Friendship
Fussy and Fancy - be thankful and feature a sentiment
Inspire Me Fridays - always anything goes Something Old, Something New (Old DP, new image)

LOC Noel

How are you enjoying the new release from Layers of Color - they have certainly changed my Christmas Cards - in the best way possible!

Just quietly  - the past two years I gave my friends cards I had bought as I was so busy making cards for the Boutiques that sell may cards I had not time left to do my own - but not this year...

Noel comes from the Christmas Verses art stamp set  - the font is divine and works beautifully as the focal point nestled neatly in the Spellbinder Nestibilities - I have used Labels Fourteen, Labels Three and the Fleur de Lis (thanks Bridget!) These have been cut with the Grand Calibur.

Layers of Color Belle Brocade art stencil definitely makes a bold statement on this card, together with the softness of lace - definitely a combination I will be using again.

SSIC Something New

It is my privilege to be sharing the devotional over at Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge this week.  I have chosen a scripture that has always been special to me.

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
John 13:34-35
My challenge this week is to use something new on your project - it can be a new product, technique, embellishment - even a colour combo that is new for you - show us what you got!!
I am using my new Stamp set  'Butterfly Kisses' illustrated by Nina Bracket for The Craft's Meow Store

How adorable is this image - that curl is way too cute!  I have stamped the image with TsukinekoVersafine Sepia

A second set of wings has been cut out, lightly coloured with SU Chalks and had SU Dazzling Diamonds added, I also added some to the Dandelion.

The punched flower has been scrunched and the layers split, this has been attached to a material bow with a button and come pink embroidery thread, a Tim Holtz Flourish has been embossed and tucked in behind.  The braid is from my stash.

Here is another card I created using  the same set - I will be using it a lot!!

I have added flowers to the base of the wings for something different - and of course wings just have to have that added sparkle - this time with Kindy Glitz!

These cards are for the following challenges:
A Spoon Full of Sugar - Flower Power
Use It Tuesday - Flowers and Stamp Not Previously Inked
Make It Monday - Always Anything Goes
2 Sisters - Silhouttes
Creations by Gilli- Green and Pink plus Flowers
Sweet Stampin - Playng in the Summer Sun
Fairy Fun Fridays - Summer Fun
Floweret - Spring and Green

I have always loved this scripture in John 16 - even before I became a Christian I loved to listen to the chorus that is based on this song.  I would beg my older brother to sing it whenever he got out his guitar - neither of us knew at that time what an impact it would have on my life.
When you introduce something new - does that mean that the old is replaced - this is something I have heard asked a lot regarding Jesus words - does that mean we are able to stop living by the Ten commandments.  The new commandment actually captures the ten commandments in itself.
We can see this when Jesus was questioned by the religious leaders
Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
 Matthew 22:36-41
The first five commandments are about loving God and not having any other God's before Him, the second five are pertaining to loving one another.  We can see that if we live by the new commandment we are infact keeping all ten commandments...perhaps with a new understanding and insight.  It would stand to reason that if we love one another like Christ has loved us, then we would not murder, lie, covet, cheat be jealous......

Therefore, we are not exempt from the commands, and principles to base our lives on, that are given to us in the Old Testament, but we are empowered by the love of Christ to live them daily.  This is no longer a task, but a lifestyle.  Will we have lapses - yes - this is inevitable, but what peace in knowing that as Christians we are not perfect, but are committed to the process of being perfected - this understanding alleviates guilt and condemnation.
It is in this action of loving one another, (and it is an action 'if ye have love one to another') as He has loved us that people will see that we are His disciples.  People can hear our words but they see our actions and these can carry the greatest impact....sometimes I share the FULL gospel better without opening my mouth - after all, we may be the only Bible people may get to read!

We gladly welcome back Clear Dollar Stamps as our sponsor this week!!  One of you lucky ladies will win $15 to spend at the CDS store, by playing in this week's challenge!

LOC FAF The Door

It is Friday and Friday means it is time for Faith Art Friday at Layers of Color.  This week I my inspiration came from a quote that captured me the first time I heard it.

The Door

There are things known
and there are things unknown
and inbetween are the doors
- Jim Morrison -

'I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.'

John 10:9

'Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me'
Revelation 3:20

I have used the Layers of Color Victorian Frame and Brick Wall cling art stamp, Belle Brocade art stencil along with the Spellbinders Grand Calibur to cut out the Labels 14 Nestibilitie and the .  The embossing has been done with Tsukineko Gold Embossing Powder - it is so rich and embosses thickly - it is my favourite embossing powder. The bricks have been coloured with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist that has been lightly painted on.

LOC FAF Remember Me

Faith Art Friday is always such an inspirational day over at Layers of Color - it is where art is shared that has been inspired by our faith - this is one day that is set aside purely for our passion for paper and for Him - we would love you to come and share with us by clicking here.

Communion has always been a topic that is interpreted in many different ways.  Each Church and individual has their own understanding on what the scripture is saying.  As I created this card, the sentiment led me to think about the times in the Scripture when Jesus asked us to think of Him...'Remember me'

'...and giving thanks, He broke and said, Take, eat; this is My body which is broken on behalf of you; this do in remembrance of Me.
In the same way the cup also, after supping, saying, This cup is the New Covenant in My blood; as often as you drink, do this in remembrance of Me.
For as often as you may eat this bread, and drink this cup, you solemnly proclaim the death of the Lord, until He shall come
1 Cor 11:24-26

Eating the bread and drinking of 'the cup' is partaking of Him - being in union with Him, therefore if we are in Christ we are remembering Him, as we commune with Him in His name.

Communion is an intimate act - one of deep fellowship.

The act of communion is a sanctified act in the Church and a special time, partaking of the bread and the wine symbolising His body being broken for us and His blood being shed for our salvation - I too have partaken of these sanctified elements and will continue to do so. I also understand that we are not limited to these times - when Jesus asks us to remember him - it is not only within the walls of our Church buildings but to also do it every time we break bread with believers- because we are His Church.

We should not underestimate the 'fellowship' we have around our own tables, in our own homes.  Communing with Him extends far beyond the elements we partake of at Church.  Indeed, as we come together around our tables with friends and family, breaking bread and fellowshipping together, talking of the Lord and remembering Him - we are having communion together...
We love to get together with friends and share what has been happening in each others lives, our talk very quickly turns to the Lord - more often than not this occurs around a meal...

When we are breaking bread together and remembering Him - this is indeed communion - are we drinking from one cup, or perhaps individual cups full of wine/juice, or partaking of the one loaf, or wafers as some do - no...this communion is one that takes place spontaneously from the heart of one believer to another - communing with the Lord and forgetting not His benefits....

'For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.'
Mat 18:20

Communion = Union, Intimacy and fellowship - we are all partakers of the Body of Christ

Thus remembering Him whenever we commune together.
I have used Layers of Color Embroidered Butterfly, Wild Grass Frame cling art stamps, Sent With Love, Flowering Gems art stamp sets for this card.  I have also used my Grand Calibur and the Label 14 Nestibilitie.
