Hello again what a week it has been, one of the highlights has got to be the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge !! You know how much I love these challenges - ths particular one I have the honour of using this adorable DIGI from this week's sponsor Teri from Delicious Doodles.
I had a lot of fun with this sketch and decided to use the same DP for the background and the panels, layering it onto white distressed CS to make it 'pop!' Some of the panels are lightly sponged as well, I like the effect that is has by leaving some edges unsponged, it adds interest and brings a nice perspective, in my opinion. Don't you just love those panels, this is one of my favourite sketchs and I know I will be using it again,,,,and again - Priscilla, you have outdone yourself this week my friend - I am loving it!
I have printed the image off twice and coloured it with chalks and a blender pen. I cut out parts of the image on one of the layers and popped it up on foam dots, not only the rose but SOME of the leaves as well. This was layered onto heavily textured back DP with some shimmer through it and was finished with red brads.
This last photo is just to show you that I made the rectange with the first image on it slightly smaller than the full image so that some of the leaves were hanging over the edges of the image and when I popped the rose up I didn't cover the whole rose with the foam dots, but added them to the outer edges and used double sided tape at the centre of the rose, near the leaves - so it was popped up at an angle, I used the same process with the leaves and love the effect, it was a little bit fiddlier BUT well worth the effort!
So there you have it, this card is going to someone very special to me, I hope they like it!
Now here is what you are waiting for - this week's sketch

ReplyDeleteHello, Lovely Linda!
ReplyDeleteThis is my first visit to your blog. I just LOVE it! Oh, your rose is just DELIGHTFUL! I think your COLORING and your LAYERING are done so well, it made me stop thinking about how you accomplished it, and just took a moment to "take it in." Your SHADING and all of the colors together make a POWERFUL statement! I love the darkness under the rose. I think it makes the rose stand out even more. The WONDERFUL DETAILS on your leaves are just BEAUTIFUL and you even gave the stem a bit of LOVE, too. I am sure the recipient will CHERISH this card for the rest of their time.
He IS Able,
Traci S.
