LOC SSIC It's On the Wall!

This week's Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge is brought to us by our very own Grace and she has chosen

"He must increase, but I must decrease"
 John 3:30

For the Challenge this week Grace has given three options:
1. Make a CAS card, (representing "you" needing to decrease); or
2. Make a More is More card, (representing that He must INCREASE) or
3. Show us a simple version of a card and then show us the "More is More" version

This card started off as a CAS card but I FAILED greatly so decided to go with the
'More is More' card - LOL!  I could not help myself one thing led to another.  I started the Layers of Color Brick Wall cling art stamp - I love this stamp and will be using it so much more!!

I also used the Fruitful Harvest and Flowering Gems art stamp sets to complete my card.  I have coloured with an Aqua Pen and Distressing Inks - I do love the effect with this technique.

This verse has so few words but means so much!!  In today's society this scripture would not be in the '10 Most Popular Scripture' List.  Sadly the Church has not been exempt from the mind set that it is all about making us feel good.  More often than not we can attend Church and hear an amazing message from the pulpit and when we stand back and look it has been all about how we can benefit from God, the songs we sing are all about us and how God has blessed us  - there was a day that we used to sing about God and His Greatness, not about what He can do for us about about WHO He is....."He must increase, but I must decrease"

Now, I am sure I am not talking about your Church - but the Church as a whole - sadly even during worship we can raise your hands (for those who do) sometimes it may not be in total surrender to God. but going with the crowd, something that we automatically do - not that our hearts are wrong at all but it is not an act of worship that is done with our whole heart - the flesh just loves to be involved and can sometimes distract us from the actual act of worship!!  "He must increase, but I must decrease"

I am in no way exempt from this, my heart longs for the things of God and to have Him first, for me to decrease and Him to increase, some days I walk in this better than others.  I am thankful for the knowledge that I am not perfect but am committed to the process of being perfected - this for me will be an ongoing process until the day I 'graduate'!!!

I was inspired by the palette from The Color Room - I did not use grey too much on my cards until now, but I am really loving it - something else you will see more of!   This Weeks Trigger Tuesday over at Moxie Fab World also inspired me with these colours - this is another Blog I love - the challenges are always a bit different and the inspiration so inspiring!!  Don't you love this journey of discovery we are on every time we look at all of the inspiration that surrounds us in Blogville!!

  4. Gorgeous card Linda... love the rich tones and all the various elements just make me want to stop and study it a while!!! I loved reading your thoughts today! We are so on the same wavelength my friend.... and no, this is NOT one of today's top 10 favorite verses! LOL! But what we all need to be striving for! Have a wonderful week!

  6. Beautiful post Linda and so true. When I started out in this Christian journey - holiness - beating your flesh into submission to the things of God was preached and taught. Today the gospel is so watered down if we did not study the Word of God for ourselves we might get lost.

This is one gorgeous card, beautiful details - as always :) love you my sister (hugs) :)

  11. What great words Linda, how true! Grace did select a scripture that would not fit in the top ten of popular culture, for sure. And what lovely colors you used, they just glow! I am longing for the day when I do graduate! :}

  17. Linda, your heart is Lovely...it is clearly for the Lord. It is so evident in your beautiful card. As soon as I saw the fruit, I knew where you were going. I also worry about the "Happy ALL of the Time Churches." Sometimes they never get to the "darker" side of things.

Your sharing said it so beautifully...just like Grace. God Bless you, and thank you for everything you do to build the Kingdom of God.

    BE well.

    He IS Able,
    Traci S.
