SSHP OCC SSCC Such Innocence

I have been busy over the past week making cards that you will get to view within the next day or so..I can't wait to show you, who it is for your will have to come back to see!

In the meantime I have made this card with this gorgeous Hagler & Stanglar image that I was sent in a RAK from my Twisted Sister Judy (aka Jaydekay) on SCS.  I had actuallty been playing around and made it much larger than I intended BUT knew straight away where I was going to use it....this week Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potenial is all about being 'Bigger than Big' - so I am playing along with this card.

I coloured the image with my Chalks and Blender Pen - I have to say it was a it more of a challenge when the image you are working on is bigger, but I got there in the end.  I used Dimensional Magic on her shoes to make them look like patent leather.  She has been cut out and popped up onto foam tape so I could place her on this faulous sheet music, which qualifies her for the Our Creative Corner Challenge where it is a Music Challenge.  This sheet music is from an old Hymn book that I was given - it is very old and falling apart, so I am giving it a new lease of life by using it on cards!  The edges have been distressed (which didn't take much doing) and lightly sponged with Tim Holtz Distressing Ink.  Old recycled lace has been added to the lower part of the sheet music and a layered flower added to the center.  Button brads have been added to the flower and along the lace.

I have finished off with Vintage Corners that I have been sent my my Mum Lesley (aka SuperNan) Mum has only been stamping 6 months and has hit the ground running.  If you get the opportunity I know she would love you to visit her gallery and show her some L-U-V....while you are there, let her know I sent you - it might get me on her "favoutites list! LOL!!

This card is also for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge, where children is the theme, the challenge is based on this scripture:

Matthew 18:4 "Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven."

To me, this little girl is all about innocence, it is something that is to be valued and seems to go so quickly these days.  As parents we try to protect our children from those things that would harm them and pollute their lives, it is not always possible.  Children are usually humble, until we start filling them with pride - I don't know of any baby who has laid in the Nursey at the hospital thinking they are any better than the other babies, or that they have it all together, they are so innocent - it is only as we start inputting into them that there is the potential to lose this innocence and become anything but humble.  Thank God that we are 'in this world' but not 'of it!!  We have endeavoured to guide our children through their childhood, learning to cope with the things that go on a round them but to protect their hearts from the influence of sin- we are told in Proverbs to 'protect our hearts, as it is the well spring of lfe.'  Surely in doing this we can all maintain our 'innocence' in God's eyes.  I am so grateful that His mercies are new every morning, otherwise there would be no hope for me - PHEW!!

Thank you for visiting with me today, I love it that you take the time to comment, it means so much to me!  God bless you!!
