Layers of Color Blog Hop

Layers of Color 'Fruit of the Spirit' Blog Hop!

Welcome to the

Layers of Color

"Fruit of the Spirit" Designer Blog Hop!

If you got here from Jennie's blog you are in the right place! If not, please start at Layers of Color blog.

Layers of Color is celebrating sponsoring 2Sketches4You this week!

We are featuring cards using their sketch and the Layers of Color Prize! Join the challenge at 2Sketches4You to be eligible to WIN THIS PRIZE: Fruitful Harvest art stamp set, Belle Brocade art stencil and Botanical Swirls art stencil!

I could not resist making an easel card - aren't they such a great style of card!

I coloured the Fruitful Harvest art stamps with Prismacolor Pencils and cut them out with a circle punch, layering it onto a larger circle.  These have been popped up with different height foam tape!  An adorable wheelbarrow embellishment had been added.

The Botanical Swirls art stencil works beautifully with many mediums - I have used 3 different Distressing Ink colors and sponged them on.

Belle Brocade art stencil adds such an elegant touch to the base of the card using the same Distressing Inks.

Our Designer Blog Hop theme is, "Fruit of the Spirit".

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Galations 5:22

Mother Teresa said, 'A day lived without doing something good for others is a day not worth living.'  I read this today in the 'Word for Today' and thought how timely it is, especially with the theme of the Blog Hop.

This is such a HUGE subject that it is impossible to capture it in one post, or at all for that matter.  As I have read the scripture and thought about what to share I came to the conclusion that as a Christian we cannot live without the fruit of the Spirit - we cannot pick and choose the fruit we would like to have, but need to have them all to be effective in our walk and to be more Christ like.  It is these fruit and the evidence of them that sets us apart...

I could not agree more with the statement shared in the Word for Today quoting
William Barclay 'More people have been brought into the church by the kindness of real Christian love than by all the theological arguments in the world. And more people have been driven from the church by the hardness and ugliness of so-called Christians than by all the doubts in the world.'

I am challenged not to just look at the fruit and agree that yes, this is what we need, but to take the next step   - to not just have the knowledge of what we need and how we should be using it, but to let it become a reality in my life - to back up my beliefs - more and more each day - will I fail - more than likely BUT I WILL GET up and keep going - our walk is daily and His mercies are new every morning - for you and me!!

From here, hop to Melisa's blog to see the inspiration she has for you! Be sure to visit each designer’s blog as there are GIVEAWAYS on each blog!!  Simply leave a comment on my blog today and I will announce the random winner tomorrow who will win the fabulous and fun Rise & Shine art stamp set

  11. Linda, I love the multicolored look that you achieved with the stencils. That little wheelbarrow charm is adorable. The wheelbarrow would be a great start to help harvest the "Fruit", but I am hoping for a big truck! If all the Christians cultivated the Fruit, what a different world we would live in.
