SSIC All Creatures Great and Small

It is time for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge - last weeks Black and white cards were gorgeous - it is always a pleasure visiting your Blogs.  This weeks devotional and challenge come from Peggysue.
Praise the LORD from the earth, you great sea creatures and all ocean depths, lightning and hail, snow and clouds, stormy winds that do his bidding, you mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars, wild animals and all cattle, small creatures and flying birds
Psalm 148:7-10
Peggysue has challenged us to use any type of creature from tiny (like an ant or bug) to a very large creature (whale, elephant) on your card or project.

I don't 'do' whimsical too often but how could I resist this darling little peacock from our sponsor this week - Doodle Pantry.  For something different (for me) I have coloured with Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol - I love the shades of blue that they have.  After colouring I  cut him out and popped him up onto the Tim Holtz Birdcage Die, that has been embossed with the Provocraft Embossing Folder.

That divine tail was 'screaming' for some sparkle so I just had to oblige and add some 3D Kindy Glitz - the texture is great, especially when I am so tactile.

The green DP is actually packaging from some Prima flowers I won in a gorgeous candy some time ago - I love to recycle and it is not hard with something as lovely as this.  Pleated DP and Seam Binding finish the card off perfectly.

You can see all of the dimension and details in this photo.

Each of the design team members has a wonderful praise song linked in their blog post, or song to recommend that will get your heart moving closer to the Lord in worship. I have chosen the song
Heart of Worship by Matt Redman - I pray the words of this song speak to your heart and move you to worship God- not with all those things that would weigh us down as we endeavour to come into His presence, but leaving those things - simply coming and bringing just that - a heart of worship!

Thank you to this weeks sponsor

The image has been lightly, and very quickly, coloured with SU Chalks/Pastels using a Blender Pen.

The scrolls on each side of the Image are from the Spellbinders Fancy Tags and the flowers are form Wild Orchid - they have the yumbliest flowers!

LOC Honeysweet

My day started with a minus 6C temperature so I decided that there is no other way to go than bright and sunny - using the Layers of Color New Release Honeysweet art stamp set!

Who doesn't love Bumble Bees - they are the cutest little things - you know aerodynamically they should not be able to fly - they also have to be home before dark otherwise they cannot generate enough body heat to fly - and how do I know this.....in New Zealand we have Bumble Bees and my Mum was always telling us facts about them as we grew up - she loves them and we all grew up loving them.

This set has so many adorable images - this one coordinates with the Spellbinders Labels 18 - doesn't that make it easy!  I have used the Grand Calibur to cut it out - I love the crisp lines that the Grand Calibur always gives.

I have stamped the bee separately and popped up its wings, adding a little Kindy Glitz for some shimmer.

My satin bow has been tied with the Bow-Easy and the divine bling is from my friend Gunn in a gorgeous RAK - I have been saving this for the right card - and this is it!!

You can see the gorgeous DP from DCWV's La Creme Stack.
This card is for the following challenges:

LOC Nostalgic Christmas

The theme for my Card Design Class at my LSS is Christmas in August - LOL - too late for July!!   I could not go past the Layers of Color Reindeer Waltz art stamp set

I have created a Tent Card using the Spellbinders Grand Calibur and Classic Oval Lge to create the opening in the card.  The Reindeer has been stamped with Walnut Stain Distressing Ink and cut out using the Classic Scalloped Ovals Lge Nestibilitie.

I tried to keep it simple and hung the scalloped image using gold thread, running the tape over the thread down the length of the Scalloped Oval to make it more secure.

The flowers are from the Layers of Color Nature Walk art stamp set - a favourite of mine, I love these flowers as poinsettia's, they are so versatile.  I have coloured them with SU Chalks/Pastels and a Blender Pen, adding some 3D Kindy Glitz for that shimmer that is synonymous with Christmas.

The side view gives you an idea of the Tent card - it is so easy and such an effective card - I know the ladies will LOVE it.

The other card we are creating is a simple one using the Layers of Color Vintage Medallion art stencil

along with the flower from the Nature Walk art stamp set.

The first card is for the following challenges:

LOC NR Friendship Posy

Good morning, good afternoon or good evening - depending where you are!  It is afternoon for me here in Australia and a wet one one in Canberra, it is also the first day back at school for my three teenagers and they are far from impressed - me...well, I am making the most of the time!

To show you a card I created using the gorgeous Pansy Corner cling art stamp and Artful Endearments cling art stamp set from Layers of Colors new release.  I am loving these images and have been inspired by visiting the Design Team galleries - it never ceases to amaze me how differently we are all inspired - if you have seen the galleries you can find them here.

The image has been coloured with SU Chalks/Pastels - one of my favourite mediums for colouring!!  I have added a touch of color to the sentiment using the Chalks as well.  This has been layered onto a Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Rectangles - this one is in my next order, I have borrowed a friends to run some off but am running LOW - arghhh!!!  For all of my Die Cutting I use the Spellbinders Grand Calibur and LOVE it!

You can see the colouring a bit better here - it is surprising what a touch of colour can add!  The more I create with the ArtFul Endearments art stamp set, The more I am loving the font - it is designed by Laura Kirste Campbell, Layers of Colors owner and artist.

The background embossing folder is from Stampin Up, the Bow is created using Seam Binding and my Bow-Easy - a perfect combination (in my opinion), all held together with a gorgeous bling brad.

This is for the following challenges:
Lollipop Crafts - July challenge - Anything goes
2 Sisters - Anything Goes
Craft Your Days Away - Summertime
ECP Challenges - Summer Theme
Totally Gorjuss -  Punch or Die Cut

SSIC LOC God's Way

The Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge is always inspirational for me - I always look forward to Sunday and seeing what the Sistah's share - from the heart and through their art.  This week is is the lovely Grace who has chosen the scripture.

'For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts'  Isaiah 55:8-9

Grace has challenged us to create a card or project that depicts the sharp contrast of black & white or ivory

I have used this fabulous Starflower Frame cling art stamp from Layers of Color, it makes quite a statement in Black and white - which is not a colour combination I use too much but am going to have to change that!  The frame has been cut out with the Spellbinders Labels 16 using the Grand Calibur.

The sentiment is from the Layers of Color Encouragement art stamp set illustrated by Nina Brackett (I love this set) it has also been cut out with the Grand Calibur and popped up on foam tape.

The pearls are part of a gorgeous RAK I recieved from a dear friend - who doesn't love pearls - I was torn whether to use these on the card or wear them!  LOL!

The bow is created using my BowEasi - it always creates a gorgeous 'plush' bow, the 'diamond' is a part of a Blog Candy - I love these brads and am thingking that clear is allowable in a Black and White challenge - I don't want to break the RULZ!!!

You can see the dimension here on the card as well as the embossed layers - I have used two Stampin' Up Embossing Folders - they are always so deeply etched and you have to love that!!

This card is for the following challenges:
Crafty Ann's - embossing or debossing or both
Crafty Catz - no pink or blue allowed
Paper Cutz - anything goes
Patties Creations - must include a stamped image - glitter or bling

LOC Encouraging Postcards

With Friday comes Faith Art Friday at Layers of Color.  It is always a privilege to be hosting this post.
'Encouragement causes power and effect'
I cannot help but find inspiration from the Encouragement art stamp set being released, the sentiments bring such truth and are so inspiring - they speak truth and life to us and uplift the spirit.  This is something so powerful and motivates me to create Faith Art that is inspired not only by the visual but by spoken, or in this case written, words.

From the wisdom of Solomon

'A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.'
Proverbs 25:11

'Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.'
Proverbs 18:21

and Paul to the Church of Ephesus

'But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ' Ephesians 4:15

Throughout the Bible we are encouraged bring timely words, words that bring life and truth, to encourage and grow us in the things of God!

'But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit'
Jude 1:20

May we echo the prayer of the Psalmist in this beautiful verse
'Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.'
Psalms 19:14

I have used Layers of Color Backyard Birds, Her Majesty's Urns, Touch of EleganceEncouragement, The Love Chapter, Artful Endearments art stamp sets have been used for these postcards.

These cards are for the following challenges:
Aud Sentiments Challenge - anything that will make someone smile/enjoy your day
